Came here to say that. Honestly kind of short sighted of Ricky to not realize that was a possibility. And then he even said “why” or who would want it- really? There’s a ton of applications with entertainment being only one

...Except it did happen Ricky, in fact it was already being done at the time Karl was talking about it. It's called Augmented Reality, and if Ricky wasn't quite so overconfident about his own cleverness he'd have known about it and realised Karl's idea was pretty reasonable. Ricky's got a habit of doing that, so he sometimes misses out on Karl making some very good points.
Oh come on Karl didn't come up with augmented reality, he just googled "future tech", VR was already way in development at the time

Love how egomaniacal Ricky was proven dead wrong in this one regarding augmented reality. I hope people still remind him of that. :p Of course, his kneejerk 'must immediately shoot down anything Karl says' mentality has proven him wrong many times, but this one was particularly good. Haha.
Karl isn't consistent. At one point he says that boys raised by wolves would become more wolf-like. But in another conversation he says that a couple brought home a baby which they eventually found out was a chimp, because if grew more and more hairy. Why didn't the chip become more humanlike?
You could even say he's stupid.
