    I'm very happy to report that Yoshimura went back to the drawing board on the first low-volume insert, and make an awesome follow-up replacement in the SA-18-K Spark Arrestor! I take you through this new product as we explain it, install it, and hear it!

    Yosh is great! I went to the HQ in Corona to buy a spark arrestor for my MX bike and had trouble getting the old insert out. They were nice enough to remove it for me. Top notch products and service!

    Will try with and without, but I think my neighbours are going to prefer it with the spark arrestor. 😆

    Nice review.. I think I like the spark arrester version best. It has a more linear sound without the hot spots in the rev spectrum. Most engines do best with a certain amount of back pressure.

  • @yvonnecarpenter2957

    The kid stole the show! He looks fearless! Climbed on it with socks and probably had 2 feet gap from his little feet to the ground, which he could careless, lol! He reved it like he stole it 🤣 Thanks for the review. I like the look of the exhaust a lot. But I was afraid of getting in trouble in the streets of Colorado (sound wise)! So I called Yoshimura tech support and they guided me to the slip-on version of the exhaust plus the spark arrestor, when time comes! I got to get a Monkey first, lol! It should not be long, dealer said a couple of weeks, let’s see 😎

    • @John5XR
      @John5XR  4 роки тому +1

      Haha, yeah he’s fearless alright! Check out his racing videos I have on my channel too. He’s quite the rider at 5-years old! Yeah, the full system is pretty loud, but the spark arrestor hushes it down a bit. The slip on would be even more tame 👌

      This makes me happy! My kids are very into what I do so I like to include them. And quite simply, if I don’t, I wouldn’t have the time to do the videos to begin with. All monkeys currently produced are exactly the same, no differences other than color and abs or non-abs

      Thanks for your reply. I know what you mean. I have a young child, he’s only 1.5 years old. Such a bright kid. I want to involve him in everything I do because I’m a older dad and want to spend my time to teach him the lessons I learned and make lots of good memories. Like you, I have to use my time and manage them well, I can only fit so much things in a day. Family, work, and Family. Anyways, you seem to be a awesome dad from some of the videos i watched so far. Keep up the good work! Ill be a tuning in to see your progress and hopefully I can get my bike up to about 75-80mph in due time.

    • @John5XR
      @John5XR  5 років тому

      Thanks, glad you’re enjoying them! Absolutely a performance gain, and no tuning needed with just a pipe. My recommendation setup would be the Yoshi pipe with spark arrestor for max performance gains on just pipe. Add in an intake, and you’ll probably wanna add more fuel with a Bazzaz Z-FI

  • @Agislife1960
    @Agislife1960 4 роки тому +3

    Does the exhaust system add to the top speed or acceleration and do you have to modify the fuel injection system to fully utilize the exhaust pipe.

      John5XR I’m going to uninstall it, ride around and then install it back. I spent all day riding another bike around that’s considerably quieter. Maybe that skewed my results.

    • @forrysc
      @forrysc 5 років тому +1

      John5XR I’m going to enjoy a large plate of crow. I uninstalled, farted around the neighborhood, reinstalled and rode 80 miles of mixed side streets and highways. It’s quieter. At full throttle it’s marginally quieter. Cruising at highway speeds with part throttle applications it’s much quieter. Cruising at low speeds in the neighborhood it’s very quiet. I didn’t notice any power loss. In fact I hit 71gps speed (73 indicated)going down hill partially drafting a truck. My previous top speed was 70.

    Is it the same reduction in DB with both inserts? (arrestor vs. non arrestor v2). Will the arrestor need replacing over time (carbon buildup etc.)?

    • @John5XR
      @John5XR  4 роки тому

      No, the spark arrestor insert is considerably quieter than the low-volume insert. The sound is also smoothed out, as in not so "barky"

    • @John5XR

  • @vtrmcs
    @vtrmcs 4 роки тому +1

    Hello John. The arrestor looks like it had coked up pretty good, presumably with limited mileage on it. How is it fairing now, assuming you're still using it? Enjoy your videos btw.

    • @John5XR
      @John5XR  4 роки тому +1

      Definitely still using it, but I wouldn’t expect it to have much, if any buildup. It’s a clean burning 4-stroke and shouldn’t be blowing by any oil to clog the arrestor. I don’t put many miles on the bike, so I might not be the best to test longevity! Thanks for watching, glad you like the videos!
