Oh my goodness! I just happened to stumble on this today. We are in the middle of the Corona Virus crisis (April 3rd,2020). This wonderful Music from one of my favorite Progressive bands is a joy to behold! Thank you so much Robert for posting your incredible band, Gracious, at the Isle of Wight 1970 festival. Please stay safe and healthy! Dave
Fantastic. May I hope for a release of the whole concert, waarts and all? I discovered Gracious in the late 90's and have both the albums on uk originals and the singles. Even the cd Echo. A BIG Super Thank You for this.
great to have the continuation of the video.... i 'd be be totally pissed off if there weren't any ;-) excellent song .... i am more into the first album, so i don't even remember THIS one... i remember "Supernova" very well then. The composers' fantasy is astounding and .. exquisite! And i am quite attracted to the front-man. He does a great singing job and his voice is very characteristic.... some may not like it , but i definitely fell for it, so many years ago ... Thanks for the wonderful pieces.
@@SuperRobsal I can't make out the mellotron...I initially assumed they were playing a Mk.II (the M400 had just been released in 1970, so it could be a M400 although this seems unlikely). Mike Pinder used to have the same problem, which he resolved by swapping out the AC for a DC motor (the "Pindertron"). He used to complain that if too many housewives turned on their vacuum cleaners while the Moodies were playing, his Mk.II Mellotron would go out of tune. There's good video of the Moodies at the same festival, and in one of them, Mike's 'tron briefly goes wayyyyy out of tune, which garnered a clear chuckle from drummer Graeme Edge. At any rate, if Gracious were using one of the first M400s, I don't know if they had yet incorporated DC-powered motors to avoid those nasty fluctuations. I'm happy to be corrected if any of that is wrong.
Not sure how you can’t hear the ‘tron!! The last 5 minutes are just huge strings and a guitar solo! Maybe you haven’t got to that bit. It used to go out of tune all the time in open air gigs, but was pretty good indoors. As I think you know, Martin had both keyboards set up exactly the same, removing the tape drop problem, so strings used to sound constant Hope that answers some of your question, but what do I know-I’m just a drummer
I think the other tapes (brass or something else) malfunctioned. However at the start he said they got the violin tapes working. You can hear them at 2:10.
I was 19 when I witnessed this performance, now going on 73 I cherish my original vinyl of this wonderful band and yes Alan was a great guitarist!❤

Tohle je tak krásný, že to okomentovat nejde. Další ze zázraků rockové muziky. M.
Beautiful Mellotron !! and the guitar solo is a true gem !!!
Dnes musím, a to,chtě-nechtě, uznat, že se UInteligence poprsila a trefila se mi do vyjetých kolejí rocku. Dejte jí najíst a napít. Krása a díky. M.
You guys deserve more recognition Once on a Windy Day may be one of my favorite songs ever
Nice to see the band live on this festival. Since 1970/1971 I have both albums of the band and I cherish them more then 45 year.

Epic. Monumental. Greetings all the way from Serbia. Isn't Internet great?
Lovely stuff, and has a great sound too - glad that 'tron worked!

Be great if someone could release the audio of the whole set, with a booklet full of pics and reminiscences. Sounds like a possible crowd-funder?
Thanks so much
Wow! I had given up getting a chance to listen to the whole song! Thanks so much!! Anyone know the 'tron chords?
OMG THANKS !!!
Just read somewhere that BigElf has the Kitkat Mellotron. Sweden must be Mellotron central.
good..................................
Great guitartone! Did the guitarplayer play an SG straight into a cranked up 100 watt Hi-Watt?
Sebastian Öström
Exactly that!!
Well spotted
SuperRobsal Wow! Must've been loud. They go very loud before they break up that much, don't they?
Sebastian Öström
Don't forget, this was the Isle of Wight Festival 1970
There were at least 350,000 people there, so a big gig!!
What exactly happened to the mellotron? It crashed fot a little time? Because at after seconds it works and sounds again.
The problem was the generator.
As the electricity fluctuated, the mellatron went in and out of tune.
