What are your thoughts on Multiversus? Would really like to here your thoughts on this game!

I genuinely like the game, but not more than Smash. The game does feel slow (slower than beta somehow) and look slow, but I’m fine with the speed though I would like a small speed up. When you hit a combo, it feels great, I like Rifts though I hope they fix the requirements for some of them, I like parries in this game more than Ultimate, using airdodging aggressively is fun and cool, the characters interest me more than Smash’s since I’m a huge comic book fan so knowing DC is going to get a lot of characters with great movesets has got me incredibly hyped. However, some downsides are the UI being kinda sloppy and slowness, even if I am okay with it. I’m fine with the grind for getting the characters, music is mid for now, but not using characters I don’t own in training mode sucks, hitlag is wack, mashing is annoying, and the buffer system really sucks and I hope they change that quickly. I really hope MVS gets its needed updates because it looks so promising and having another crossover fighter contend with Nintendo since this genre shouldn’t just be one game being dominant and it could cause Nintendo to advance better with their own IP. Hearing the devs genuinely care about this game gives me hope for its future and I really wish the team the best of luck. (I need Marvel characters in this game as well, so don’t die yet, MVS… or for awhile at least).

I actually really like it, it feels really easy and accessible for me and I feel like I can actually space really really well and actually read people and properly stay at a range. Of course 1v1 kinda sucks but 2v2s is actually amazing imo

@@maskkid I completely agree with you. Other than I do like is more than smash. The characters in this game are amazing the game design in them is so well thought out and creative. They really do put soo much love in this game with all the little details. I love all the characters I watch so many of these shows/cartoons/movies. I think the game would benefit with being faster. I think 1.25 to 1.5 times faster would benefit it faster than that could mess up 2v2 because it is already soo chaotic at times. I play a lot of 2v2s with my brother and best friend.

I enjoy MVS! There’s actual combos that you don’t need complicated tech or speed to pull off. It’s slower now but the speed isn’t really an issue in my opinion even though I wouldn’t mind it being faster. Rn the issue is the UI, choppy connection, and missing options and features that were previously in Beta. Other than that, MVS is a game I’m willing to dump time into. I’m hoping for more characters and updates for overall health of the game. PFG Devs actually listen to its community so I have no doubt the changes will come.

Tbh i just like having a platform fighter that feels inheritly different to the game i've been playing since december 2018.
A lot of the cons you mentioned such as the slowness of the game, the cooldowns and the floatiness give the game a different feeling to Smash, and i like that.

    • @PurposeDriven7_
      @PurposeDriven7_ Місяць тому +7

You can give a different feeling to the game without doing that though, look at Brawlhalla, Rivals and NASB. They ALL feel different and still make the gameplay fun and snappy.

@@imprudentdev1503NASB 2 is a bit buggy, but it is well worth it imo, it’s just the community is so small now because everyone was scared off by the reception (not necessarily the execution) or NASB 1. That game is seeing a resurgence of people who recognize it as an actually well done melee style game, very fast and techy, while the sequel will appeal to people who are more used to current day smash games, but it has a decently fast pace and plenty of tech with the slime mechanic. It feels incredible honestly. I think both NASB 2 and Multi are great in there own ways, all said

@@imprudentdev1503 Multiversus has tons more bugs than NASB 2, NASB 2s pacing and flow of the game is very smooth and the slime mechanic is a game changer for platform brawlers. Is basically where Multiversus got its meter inspiration from. Rivals 2 is easily one of the best platformers made. There are NO bugs m, I personally have the played the beta and it’s in better shape than many brawlers that are in full release. Rivals 2 is quite possibly the best platform brawler I’ve played.

Let me just start by saying thank you for being the voice of the community and addressing this. We need more big content creators to at least acknowledge these things so that they became more aware to the dev team and community as a whole. I had 350 hours in the beta and played almost every day with my roommate. We patiently waited during the 10 months the game was down and highly anticipated its return. I was certainly prepared to spend hours grinding the game back out again. However me and my roommate INSTANTLY stopped playing upon its return. I agree with every single thing presented in this video but there are some things I desperately need to reiterate:
    1. Don't you think I would've bought every character in the beta with my mountain of gold had I known it would be removed, and compensated with actual garbage? Now I'm stuck with a ton of characters locked where instead I easily could've purchased them all previously. They took away gold in exchange for confusing fighter currencies which is not nearly enough of a compensation when, like I said, I could've effortlessly bought all the fighters previously. But now I'm being punished by my decision to not buy them.
    2. It is NOT fun at all to have 30+ frame delays for most moves in the game. The speed is atrocious and utter garbage and is a total slog to play though. The end lag / start up times for every move on every character (including jump speed) makes the game inherently feel unresponsive and unfun to play. Reaction time should be rewarded in a fighting game which is a concept that suffers with the new slow state. The current speed feels more like a chess match with how back and forth the gameplay is, instead of a much more fun faster paced feel.
    3. In the beta, simply the more you played, the more you gained; yet that whole idea is completely non-existent in this new version. You're rewarded just the same amount if you played 100 hours versus someone who plays a character for 2 hours (excluding missions). Where is the incentive? Am I supposed to keep playing just to not have anything to work towards? Its a completely backwards and broken system. Look at some of the most popular free long term based games, such as any of Supercells mobile games. Free games, such as clash of clans or fortnite, are wildly popular because every single day there is something to strive towards and accomplish, which is not really the case for this game. And even IF there was something to work for like higher ranks on your characters, you're not gonna have fun doing it anyways when the movement is unplayable.
    4. There is absolutely ZERO justification for removing end game stats, leaderboards, exp gained from battles, and individual fighter ranks. Genuinely I see no justification for taking away something every person agreed was a good thing. The direction the dev team took with the mountain of disagreeable changes is laughable. Who thinks TAKING AWAY content is better than leaving it in or adding it? Its completely illogical and unnecessary.
    5. Overall, its safe to say that I was heart wrenched and hugely disappointed upon returning to this state of the game after a long 10 month wait. These are issues me and many other people surely agree upon and I know at least in my case, there's no reason I would want to play this game knowing how much better it was/ could've been. Its just like when someone transitions from 60 to 120 fps. Once you experience greatness, you never want to go back. This game unfortunately gave us an incredibly fun and simply designed beta, including its very user friendly and intuitive UI, and instead reverted to a fortnite menu copy with way too many buttons, and numerous issues and changes that were either entirely unnecessary or straight up bad.
I appreciate anyone who took time to read this. I am hugely passionate about this game, but until most, if not all of these changes are at least acknowledged or fixed, I don't see myself returning to this hot garbage game state.

This game fails the basics so hard. There's extremely few universal techniques and options in the game. Character specific skills, while creative, don't make up for the lack of option that people take for granted in Smash. I could probably write 2-4 paragraphs worth of offensive, defensive, and mobility options available in ultimate that people would simply categorize as the "game engine" or "game feel". Take simply the ledge options: jump from ledge, roll from ledge, neutral get up, drop from ledge, attack from ledge, ledge trumping, ledge grab limit, use of ledge invincibility, ledge regrab, 2 framing, etc.
There's so many little things that have to be purposefully coded that people don't think about and which tbh the devs of Multiversus didn't consider developing or consider developing an alternative for in their game. It's just very basic and the things they did change makes the game feel less punishing and less in your control. The landing not canceling aerials is a perfect example. This may be less punishing for players but it actually ends up removing options for players. For instance, techniques like drag-down aerials or first hit aerials can no longer be performed.

If you played Smash Bros for years, this game gaslights you into thinking you suck at platform fighters. The points you made prove it: its mashy & inconsistent with several moves
Some say "i like the slowness & the floatiness cuz it helps me plan out"
Dude, what's the point of planning when you just grab any character & mash all the attacks making it impossible for the opponent to get in?

Honestly, I personally disagree with almost all of your subjective cons of the game. I really like every character being unique and not all having the exact same capabilities (ie. some up tilts charge, some don't). This causes you to play a character with a charge and one without differently, like prioritizing different setups or playstyles to use each character to their strengths. I also really enjoy playing around the cooldown system and having multiple moves on the same bind. I find it fun to plan out when I want to use a move so I have the off-cooldown move or hold the cooldown move for when I need it. I feel like these things add a lot of nuance to strategy and playstyle. I've played enough smash; I really like having another platform fighter that lets me think differently and provides a unique experience to smash. I'd rather go play smash if that's what I'm in the mood for rather than try to align the design choices in this game with those in smash.
Not saying you're wrong, but there are those of us out there who love the design of the game!
