  • After 11K miles I need new front brake pads. I brake before every corner and need to learn trail braking now which I am convinced is the safe way to corner but safety does come with a price!

Just to add with my little experience with bikes, you always want to try to take the old pads out without pushing the pistons back in yet. When you run them back in while dirty, you bring contaminates via the pistons seals which can A) scratch them, B) dirt the oil. WD-40 degreaser which will not harm anything and a toothbrush and an old shoe lace, you run it around the pistons and wash and dry them and then use a brake piston clamp to press them back in. That tool cost 25.00 on Amazon. Happy and safe riding.

I've read Honda recommends new brake caliber bolts each time, so I looked it up when I did my brakes at 15K (and yes they were shot) and my manual did say use new bolts and torque to 31 lbf-ft

You lucked out in getting the pads on correctly because it does make a difference. The little arrows on the pad tabs match direction of wheel rotation, You can see arrows in your video at 5:15 and 5:50. I think the only difference is the anti-squeal backers, get the arrows down and they tend to squeak. Did ya luck out on the right? There is NO inactive side of these calipers.

Exactly, also the use of the electric wrench is not my thing.😢

You don't recommend using anti squeak lube on the backing plates????

Thanks for the video p.s. trail braking does not work on a bike with linked braking because your using half the front brakes at the same time .

There is no way you'd need to change brake pads at 10-11k miles. Those pads have plenty of wear left in them. I didn't replace my fronts on my 2012 til somewhere near 50k. And that was only one side- the other side was still plenty thick for awhile yet.
