I have been doing more and more of my own maintenance on my Victory. It is an easy bike to work on and the engine is simple. My pads are holding up well because the engine has insane braking power which minimizes the need for hard stops. There is a great deal of satisfaction that comes with doing the routine maintenance.
Yup we always do our own maintenances. The simple stuff of course... Kake will record the next time she do her bike. Yeah I would say those pads were low lol. Yeah the oem stuff is always more expensive $$$. Man beautiful back road.
As a long time Wing owner it is interesting that the inner pads a more worn than the outer. Since I have been riding Goldwings for awhile I will spend the money on the OEM. I had half the life on my 2007 with after market. Will be interred to see how these stand up. Video idea to check them in 10,000 miles and see the wear. Keep riding my friend.
Yeah, if these Niche pads don't last very long then it might actually be comparable price wise to just go OEM instead. I'll have to watch the wear closely!
Excellent savings Mengy. Well done. You are right. Pads were toast and DCT trans would have more pad wear due to lack of engine braking from a manual trans. Great point. MotoGP racing goes through front brake pads pretty quick. Have you been riding like you stole it? I think so. 🤫 Of course you checked the rotors.? That’s also a nicely built car port structure. Do you also have a garage for those cold and snowy Pa winters? As always those Pa roads are priceless. Ride safe and PD ride often.
There are wear indicators on the pads you can see to check before taking anything apart. How are the rotors? What’s the part # for those Niche pads. Yes, those pads needed replacement. Read somewhere that you should only click a torque wrench once when tightening bolts. Informative. Thanks
Just did mine the other day. I ended up replacing the bolts. I want to take old ones to work to check for run out, just for curiosity. I don't really see any reason to replace them tho. Let us know how that brand works out for you. I am really curious. I replace mine with Honda OEM. They cost to damn much lol.
Very Smart !!! Replace pads with 20 dollars pads and next time replace two new worn rotors with $600 dollars just rotors plus new set of Honda new pads. All together next job will be $800 dollars. That is Genius and please lets us know how they sqweel and sound blaringly loud. I guess with the helmet on you can't hear it anyway...
Getting ready for a 4 day to WV , the multistrada got new chain , sprocket, oil and filter and the new front pads are going on with the new tires I will be changing myself!!! Don't pay to have My bike worked on, use the $$$ for gas and motels!!!😀😀😀🏍🏍🏍🏍🍺🍺🍺
@@MotoMengy I hang at my friends shop in Emmaus, he has a tire machine that I use !!! I just take my free tire pile tires over and pop them on !!!😀😀😀🏍🏍🏍🍺🍺🍺 right now I have 16 tires hanging in my garage!!!

There sure is, plus I love learning the inner details of the bike I'm riding too. 😎
Nice job MM, I bet you can tell the difference
A bit, but not as different as I expected. I guess even though the old pads were worn they were still braking just fine.
Good job! It's good to be able to perform that type of work yourself. Ride safe.
It's good, but man the older I get the more I think sometimes I'd like to just pay someone to do it. The miser in me won't allow it though...

I loved wrenching on my Harleys, they were easy. The Wing is a little bit more difficult to maintain. Less to maintain, but harder to reach stuff.

I've been using the EBC double H sintered pads on my 2018 wing. In addition to costing less than the OEM pads they seem to wear much more evenly,
I'm not a huge fan of the pads I bought, they squeal now and then where the stock pads never did. I'll look at the ones you got next time.

I may ride my Wing a bit fast in the curves from time to time...😎

Me thinks so. All good. It’s kinda why we ride. 🤫
Wow those pads were shot! I used to paddle-downshift like crazy when I had the Gold Wing, but the front brakes on that bike were crazy good.
I use the paddles too, moreso now than I did at first. They help a ton.

On older Wings I tried after market, OEM is the way to go moose.
So far I like the Niche pads, but every now and then they'll squeak just a little bit. Goes away a few miles later though.

They seem to be wearing just fine honestly, but thanks for the advice! 😎

I have put my own tires on but its not easy without the proper equipment. New tires are one of the few things I'll pay to have changed today.

Hiya David!
By the way $65 x 2 = $130 :-) but I take your point, still expensive.
I think with tax it was closer to $140 than $130, but eh, inflation and all that! 😁
