So so so deserved. I know not everyone watches skiing and for those who don’t, probably don’t understand just how amazing she is. A one in a lifetime talent.
I am a skier and follow skiing. Think of the best in their sports: Ohtani, Mahomes, Serena, Mondo Duplnatis.That is how dominatingly good Mikaela Shiffrin is.
It’s so refreshing to see the humility and kindness she displays, while being a powerhouse athlete. Her quiet demeanor is absolutely stunning in this day and age. Congrats to her!

She even posted a little video on her Facebook saying that she's been nominated before and didn't win and that she knows she's up against some big names and she "knew" she wasn't going to win this time either, so she was going to stop worrying about it and just go and have fun. Then she won 😅. She's such a cutie.
Mikaela, America's sweetheart, has been and continues to be a joy and inspiration to watch. Few have done more to put alpine skiing in the spotlight of sports competition.
She is an amazing athlete. I don't watch a lot of skiing, but I've been tuning in from time to time when she was racing.
Well deserved win and a great speech. I really liked her take on records, viewing them as inspiration.

LfG!! Shiffrin is a Colorado native and a legend around my area.. I grew up in Longmont about 30 min from Eldora ski resort and big names passed through our area quite a bit!! I got to meet Lindsey Von and Shaun white on the same day up on eldora .. 😅 Colorado skiing truly is something else and imo is some of the best in the entire world outside Europe 😅🎿 my brother met Brodie miller up on winter park skiing moguls and trees 🌲
And now we all know why she is truly the GOAT.

@@derekjlight 😅 You remind me of this guy that I was having a little argument with on Twitter, who said that Mikaela was unhappy that she got 2nd place in the Super G at the 2023 World Championships. If you're not familiar, that's just one of the 4 different events she raced. He said that she was unsatisfied with the silver medal, and that she only valued gold. I'm an Alpine ski racing fan and a Mikaela fan, and I read a ton of articles and posts, and I watch videos, and I knew that wasn't true. So I told him what she said and what she has said in the past about being okay not winning a race if she feels that she skied her absolute best, which she stated she did. Then he says to me, well we'll never know unless she tells us, will we? Well, HE wouldn't have known. I did. That would have been the end of it, except, much to my surprise, she *did* chime in, and said exactly what I said that she said. I can't even tell you how satisfying that was 🤣. It was very hard not respond with "Haha, told you so!" But you're right, I can only go by what she says and what's written about her in articles. She may have a drinking problem, and they are all lying. I just don't think they are.

And she came back from that public embarrassment with record-setting World Cup wins.
You may not know that the year before the Olympics her beloved father died very unexpectedly and that deeply troubled her. Coupled with sky high expectations she could not adjust to the unique snow conditions. I'd be willing to bet that she enters the next Olympics and does Very well.
