Sharing Science Through Origami Microscopes
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 жов 2018
- Inventor Manu Prakash thinks you can’t understand Earth’s big problems without looking at the (really) tiny things. So he created Foldscope: an origami microscope that brings science to people’s pockets. It costs less than $1 to build, is portable and weighs less than 10 grams. There are more than 500,000 Foldscopes out in the world, and Manu hopes they’ll forge communities of curious problem solvers.

its really sad they dont tell the other (and more IMPORTANT) reason why he invented this microscope: at 2:12 you can see this spinning thing which he invented aswell. you put blood onto this and you spin it around so that it works like a centrifuge. you can then see under the microscope if the person has malaria or not. they made this examination accessible for everyone . this guy is a hero :)
sorry for my poor english :/
you have really good english! im a native speaker and you probably have better grammar and spelling than me!
Hi. (Sorry for my bad English)
@@biblicallyaccurateangel1378 wow that's even more amazing ❤❤❤❤❤
@@thatxonexguy5438 I hope that's sarcastic! 😆😂😂

The beginning of the video made me think that it's entirely plausible that the next Einstein could be living in a slum right now with no access to education or anything
Wow so racist. You consider India a slum then u might be looking at your life wrong
@league Preach!
Everybody has the potential to be next Einstein or be the person to discover a cure for cancer. But here's the thing: not everyone has access to the best possible education one can get if you want to be the Einstein or discover the cure for cancer.
@@stop4372 lol. You triggered bud?
@@stop4372 where the hell did he say India is a slum?🤣
"Out of two billion kids in this planet, roughly a billion kids live in poverty. That's half the world's talent that has absolutely no access."
"Tools will come and go but it's these communities we're trying to enable that will really stand the test of time" -Manu Prakash
I hope there is a video that explains how does that origami Microscope work, I just can't imagine... This is amazing.
Watch Mark Rober's video on him. There's a small glass bead which is fitted into the origami which zooms in things so that you can see stuff that the naked eye couldn't
This is wonderful. I sometimes ask myself where could I be now if I had had a better education, even further, where if my whole country had better education and a better approach to science. I can only imagine.
Occasionally, one becomes slightly hopeful...
science saves the day! again.
I’ve seen him on mark rober’s channel
Yeah i think great big story is a little late
@@SNX1881 But on Mark's Channel it was also about the centrifuge not only the microscope, this guy invents a series of low cost tools it's never too late to show what he accomplished. and before he was on Mark's Channel he was invited in a TED talk.
I can proudly say that Manu Prabhakar is an Indian scientist because of his discovery that even poor children can get very good quality education today.
Origami is awesome.
It isn't origami
hello again
@@jasperpang6819 who me?
Manu Prakash is an amazing man. Incredible work.
Ooh! Nice! We saw this at MAPCOST the other day during our field trip. I looked through that microscope. It was awesome.
Meanwhile politicians getting the Nobel Peace Prize. Nice.
I remember reading about this 5 years ago in my physics class, cool stuff!
Remember that time when UA-cam crashed?
He's such a good boy.
This was on mark robers channel
I thought that too
Wonder full work sir
It’s about time you did a video on this
2:17 It's funny how he pronounces "Aha" as "Ahuh".
Commendable work
It's a great invention!
Thanks big story for This video..
If possible Please tell us how to make this microscope or where is available ... how I buy for the talented kid's ...
If it is available online give us link .
Thanks..!
I’ve seen him before on a channel
Wow, interesting idea!
Amazing.
From where I can buy this,it's just brilliant...isit available in India?
One day, I hope to be as amazing as this guy
*Mark Rober!*
Lack of access to science shouldn't be a concern of a mere citizen, it should be a common concern instead, aka government (the will of the people). So seeing someone doing smtg like this makes me happy but also sad
Now I feel like I’m not living up to my potential. At least videos like this help make me feel a little bit better.
When we have these expensive microscopes we all gather around but we could just have these ones with the same microscopic power...
amazing
I have seen this guy before
Very interesting
WHERE WE GET THIS ? I WANT TO BUY FOR OUR VILLAGE
I also want one , where can i get one ??😅
Kmaaal
Interesting.
Is there anyway people can buy it?
Hey guys 🤗 could someone please tell from where can I buy onee 😊
Where can i get that things
Nice
2:08 Is she using it to look at the sun 😂
given that half of the people in the video are also staring into the sun, I think the sun is serving as a backlight or something
We have Manu Prakash here and then there is Elizabeth Holmes🤧
Great, but i don't know how to get this!!
Where i can buy these
It isn't origami but it's still really cool
Wao
Recycled paper tools should be the next step in technology.
How can i buy
how to buy it
Gray how to get access to that
Sometimes I poop in my neighbor's backyard to show consolidation with the poor kids of the world
Waw what a man
I want that Micro I love it😍😙
How to buy in india
How can i get this
Such a shame they didn't tag Manu - he is such an interesting guy. Here's his website www.foldscope.com
i very very love origami this me passion
But now that microscope is pretty pricey.... Thats what happens.
See mark rober's video where he goes un depth with his stuff
You are really the access to science for poor people
Mark Rober
I HAPPENED TO BE IN INDIA

I read abotut this like a yr ago
Can you not
This Indian fuckin media is useless.
Those are more concerned about relationships of Salman khan, than to praise this man's work🔥
Still I'm literally fuckin 5 whole year late to know about this guy.
He first appeared on Ted Talks
Can I have one
I am Indian and like science and came to America for more science
wooow that’s amazing
Hi this is so expensive I leave in pakistan it's normal prize is 12$
UA-cam stopped working because y'all didn't like this video.
i have the7nd comment
First
Tomorrow I have a birthday
Thanks
And in India most are busy in politics. Indian people think that politicians are above scientists
Saquib Ahmed to be fair most people on earth would rather vote for good sounding (unrealistic) promises ,then logical conclusions/problems,which require more taxes to be solve. Just look who we vote to be our leaders....
@@abcabc-uv6ce who u vote? U still believe in politics????
