Agreed. I found this channel a couple of years ago and it’s outstanding. Factual information researched and presented with an unbiased excellence. Thank you for the outstanding content Forrest!
Thank you so much for this one, Forrest. I remember asking you a few years ago if you would please cover this topic, and I hoped you would get to it one day. I love all of your videos, I never miss an upload - I particularly loved your Zodiac series. Your charisma and journalism is second to none IMO, and the hours upon hours you must dedicate to your reseach really shows. Please keep your wonderful videos coming. Wishing you all the best for the holidays. Mike, from the UK.
Thanks Forrest, this was another in your line of great videos. A suggestion would be the Halifax Nova Scotia explosion of 1917. Prior to the first atomic bomb it was the largest man made explosion.
You can hear the absolute terror in the reporter’s voice. The fact that anyone got out of that situation alive is a miracle. Though I suspect many that lived, wished they had not.
I cannot disagree with you. Looking at the footage, this crash could've been unsurvivable for everyone onboard the Hindenberg. In fact, Morrison recalled that the reason why he said "Oh the Humanity" was because he initially thought that no one had survived.
I had never previously followed up to read about the survivors, and the stories and images are fascinating. Apparently the last living survivor died just five years ago, in 2019.
I remember as a kid seeing this clip, I felt anxious from hearing the terror of the reporters voice. Now I have to go to google maps and take a look. I wonder if anyone knew that WW2 was about to start. Thanks Forrest
That audio of the the radio coverage was horrifying. Honestly might be the grimmest thing I've ever listened to. First thing that came to my mind was 9/11 coverage, but even then, this was somehow more mortifying to hear...
It would be interesting for you to cover the design changes with LZ130 Graf Zeppelin II, which never carried passengers but was used by the German military for radar reconnaissance of the British coastline, prior to the war. It is rumored that they changed the method used to connect the external covering panels to the framework girders to ensure good electrical grounding of the covering. Prior to the Hindenburg the original Graf Zeppelin and predecessor airships used conductive painted strips over the lacings that connected the covering panels to the framework girders. But because the Hindenburg was designed with diesel engines in mind (previous Zeppelins used Maybach petrol airship engines) the designers thought this extra measure of safety wasn’t required.
That must have been a sight to see back then. The airship, not the fire. Although the fire was probably pretty spectacular too. It was over 4 times longer than a Goodyear Blimp, and twice as wide.
That reporter no doubt suffered from a severe case of PTSD for the rest of his life. RIP to the crew and passengers. It was found out much later than they had used a substance to coat the ship with that was basically rocket fuel. Hydrogen bags covered in rocket fuel...
Minor correction - that common audio recording of the reporter is running too fast leading to him having a high pitched voice. He had a more deep stereotypical broadcasters voice. Anyone who wants to hear it at the correct pitch can find it on UA-cam.
Love your channel! Makes me wonder how long it took for them to cross the Atlantic and how many pilots there must have been to always keep the craft manned. Also: Two weeks ago tomorrow I went to Cielo Drive and the gates were open! Stepped inside and took a photo. The friend I was with freaked me out cuz he was worried the gates would close on us, so I didn't go too far in. Went in nonetheless...
Passengers paid $450 ($9,900 in today's dollars) when you were better off crossing the Atlantic 3rd class on an ocean liner. Sometimes it pays to be poor.
At 803 feet, it was 2.67 football fields in length, and well more than 1/10th of a mile. To drive from bow to stern would cause your odometer to click once, in the tenths of a mile digit. Still, with the tail and fins, it looks like a beached whale.
I own a tiny piece of Hindenburg Skin 1/4 inch square. (Yes I know most of the structure was burnt) but a small amount of skin remained in the wreckage. The skin is part of my Mini Museum #2. You can look them up and how they acquired them to manufacture. the company is called Mini Museum.
Another great one. I would love to see you do a video of some Texas history spots like the Alamo. Most people thing the Alamo is just the church building that stands in downtown and fail to see the true border like the outer walls. With the hotels and river walk it’s impossible to know the borders and thus the true story. Also San Jacinto.
Pilot error He oversteered on the approach, snapping a cable in the rear which whipped and punctured a hydrogen air bag The gas found relief out the base of the upper tail fin and static ignited the mix They couldn t use helium bc the US was the only manufacturer and wouldn't sell it to them
My grandfather was on it. he told me he saw a guy speaking German emerged from a restricted area holding a cigarette lighter. He said the guy gave him $100 and told him to keep his mouth shut.
It is very strange that this thing made it all that way, then only minutes and a few feet from their landing zone, exploded into bits. Just doesn't seem like a innocent thing. Looks very fishy to me.
More superb content. The Forrest Haggerty channel doesn't raise the bar, the Forrest Haggerty channel is the bar.

Another excellent and concise report! The radio reporter’s emotional reaction is unforgettable. Thanks, Mr. H
Heartbreaking reaction.
Been with you a long time now and you never disappoint. Thanks, Forrest.

I was gonna go to bed after my long day doing dad stuff but... I can spare another 9 minutes for the goat. Oh the humanity!
The humidity 😂
Thank you Forrest. By far my most favorite youtube channel for years and years
Top notch quality content, as always, Forrest is in his own class
Your content is always interesting and well researched . Another great presentation. Thank you.
Very nice summary of what happened and probable cause
Thanks Forrest, this was another in your line of great videos. A suggestion would be the Halifax Nova Scotia explosion of 1917. Prior to the first atomic bomb it was the largest man made explosion.
Thanks Forest for another splendid video!
Very nice video! your attention to details and facts is impressive

As usual outstanding storytelling and more details than I've ever had on this event. Thanks againForrest.
Such a good video. Simple, informative, punchy. I love it
Great historical video as always Forrest. Thanks for posting and Merry Christmas.

That's called dramatizing a story.
As always, very interesting and informative!
Really enjoying the regular uploads keep em coming !. 100k by new year 🎉 and fully deserved!.
Excellent and concise film. Well done!

getting history class without a college tuition is amazing.
BABE WAKE UP NEW FOREST VIDEO
Absolutely awful. The commentator was clearly devastated. Those people aboard... we can barely imagine.
That audio of the the radio coverage was horrifying. Honestly might be the grimmest thing I've ever listened to. First thing that came to my mind was 9/11 coverage, but even then, this was somehow more mortifying to hear...
That poor announcer was probably traumatized for life...
Another's great video, always enjoy your presentations.
God i love these. The best unintentional asmr and i learn stuff!
Wow thanks for the video 😮
Very interesting. Great as always Forrest.

Great video! St. Elmo's Fire is also a good song.
I am surprised that anyone survived this explosion and crash. Interesting video!
Excellent.
Thanks Forrest - good stuff👍
Another Forrest video! Can't click the video fast enough!! Thanks!!
That must have been a sight to see back then. The airship, not the fire. Although the fire was probably pretty spectacular too. It was over 4 times longer than a Goodyear Blimp, and twice as wide.
As usual, Forrest delivers!
That reporter no doubt suffered from a severe case of PTSD for the rest of his life.
RIP to the crew and passengers.
It was found out much later than they had used a substance to coat the ship with that was basically rocket fuel. Hydrogen bags covered in rocket fuel...
Forrest, can you do more forensic file videos like you did with Cara Knott? I love those kind of videos.
What case do you have in mind?
Gabby Pitito, Megan Kanka, Karen Snyder and The Menendez brothers murders.
And Forrest, Under the Ash Tree is a good you tube channel for different murder stories.
Crazy to think this was less than 100 years old

great video

Amazing that it did a round trip from Germany to Rio de Janero Brazil...must have been a very luxurious flight.
May God comfort the families of those who perished. My sincerest condolences. Thank you for sharing this Forrest.
Hi Forrest. Your graphic says 1937 for the test flight. It was 1936.
Keep up the great work 👍🏻
Awesome video. The Hindenburg was what started my love of "disasters" as a kid, as morbid as that sounds 🤘😉
04:12 "Some landing" ~ Gig Young in The Hindenburg (1975)
But other than that, how was their flight?

Taco Bell's first Uber delivery

0:42 So we have Herr von Zeppelin to thank for ultimately giving the band Led Zeppelin its name. 😂😂😂

I thought the "Oh the humanity" audio was recorded after the event.

Thank you.
5:39 I will forever hear Dazed and Confused when I see a photo of the Hindenburg going down in flames.
Pilot error
He oversteered on the approach, snapping a cable in the rear which whipped and punctured a hydrogen air bag
The gas found relief out the base
of the upper tail fin and static ignited the mix
They couldn t use helium bc the US was the only manufacturer and wouldn't
sell it to them
Not sure how anyone thought a highly flammable incendiary structure would be a wise choice for travel.
My grandfather was on it. he told me he saw a guy speaking German emerged from a restricted area holding a cigarette lighter. He said the guy gave him $100 and told him to keep his mouth shut.
Forrest the goat!
So funny to see the swastika in the USA without much fanfare.
Beautifully decorated ship!
My Grandfather lamented how he would see the Hindenburg fly over New York city as a young boy.
his grandson was named Led
mr moorison is buried in my hometown scottdale pa
Thank for this information!🙏
It is very strange that this thing made it all that way, then only minutes and a few feet from their landing zone, exploded into bits. Just doesn't seem like a innocent thing. Looks very fishy to me.
I own a small piece of the Hindenburg
Bottom line, Hindenburg could have been helium filled. But, helium was more expensive/less profit margin. Once again, greed always wins.
Too much dead air for my taste. You should be able to narrate and manipulate the map program at the same time.
👌🇺🇸
The next famous zeppelin occurred in 1968 when Led Zeppelin was formed.
Yep! Their album cover is a vintage brownish color photo of this event!
Thank you, Forrest!
He kept running and running
Bahdawm- tic tic tic
Bahdawm- tic tic tic tic tic tic
Bahdawm- tica tica tica tica tic tic
lol 😬
813'!? Nope. Hindenburg was only 804.8' long it was never 813 then shortened to 803'
