I haven't slept in two days... I haven't been this inspired by a VST in since I bought MASCHINE 10 Years Ago. Wait till you realize how easy it is to create your own chords, or drag in your own samples and midi info. It is absolutely outstanding. It is so well curated. I'd love to meet the team behind the design. Some of these samples maybe nothing but more than samples from their enormous library. It goes to show you the possibilities that many of us weren't even aware could be achieved with only stacking these types of textures and sound design. What will set this plugin from everything else in this genre of VST's would be.... EXPANSIONS! Enjoy... I'm going to play with my Playbox.
it´s a custom-made piece by El Taller Pino. Made of brass components with no finish so it will still age and change color. The inside is made of a 6PX Cassette Player, a vintage machine. The idea behind it is to recycle old tape machines that would otherwise end on a landfill. It has a motor for pitch speed too.
Had such a blast getting to look at this for the past couple of weeks. For anyone wondering, yes, Playbox is legit. Haven’t stopped using it since they sent it my way. The ability to load your own samples in is crazy. Now who do I have to bribe to make this work natively in Maschine? Lol
@@schmapps1 It works fine in Maschine :) I was saying I wish it worked in Maschine Plus in standalone mode as a part of the OS. It's so powerful that I would love to be able to reach for it just like I reach for Kontakt itself. It's really powerful and I'd just love to see it's features be more widely usable or integrated. It really was a stroke of genius by the devs that I think could have a much wider application. Hell they can put it in a little calculator like Teenage Instruments and I'll be happy haha :)
@@humvnpvrvdox9606 whooooa lol. Coming in hot! That feature has always been around. I set my Machine, my Jam, and my Komplete Kontrol alt different groups quite often without any problems. It’s just a routing thing. Datsunn explains it at the end of this video. ua-cam.com/video/LBwD9cT_Wvw/v-deo.html
Huge Native instruments fan/user. Loving this instrument and your deep dive here. Giving me lots of ideas. I'm also a fan of circuit bending and resampling and have many home built instruments. One question. Is is possible to buy one of those cassette re-samplers somewhere?the one on the gold pedal thing. I need one NOWWWWWW!!!!!
Fantastic video! I love random ever since messing with modular. I want this! :) Not for inspiration, but as the main instrument! Please put it in K14 and I will get one! Even better, roll out a K14 + Izotope with Komplete Kontrol + Maschine mega bundle as a pay monthly subscription so we can "rent the hardware" too!
Looks very promising but could have some graphical/interface helpers for beginers showing how to make complete musics from any genre (or some) from start to finish.
Nice instrument, but I see _randomization_ has been quite focused in the video. The random feature is already a part of many NI synth instruments so what's new in Playbox's random feature?
and yet no undo button? All the randomizing you can do would lead on to think that an undo button is available in case you make a mistake and randomize something?
They should have added this to Komplete Ultimate and above, or even regular Komplete and above. I would be willing to give up the stuff in Komplete Ultimate 13 that I never use, if they added this. I probably only use about 20% of the things I got with Ultimate, like the Acoustic Guitar loop or George Duke Kontakt instruments, they could go without a problem, there's actually a bunch of them that are all but useless to me. I would definitely use this. Unfortunately I'll have to wait until their summer sale or Black Friday sale. I'm in the process of building a hybrid setup, and I'm focusing on upgrading my MPC Live 2, hardware synths, and other hardware right now. It would be cool if NI allowed Komplete purchasers to pick between certain things, and customize their choices. I got Ultimate on Black Friday, for a great deal, so I'm not complaining, but if they allowed us to choose things that fit our style, it would be a lot better. If they ever do, hopefully they allow retro sales to change theirs too.
Playbox has been added to our Komplete Now subscription plan and will be in K14. We also consider making several KNow flavors geared towards specific genres/styles in the future!
Every time I see Ableton the first thing that pops in my head is “God that’s an ugly piece of software” . I know the way it looks isn’t THAT important, but damn, all these years and it still looks like it runs on Windows 98?
Maybe I am biased because I am used to it, but I am personally fine with it. I don't know what preferences you have but I've read similar comments coming from FL Studio users and I personally find the FL interface to be quite ugly and unintuitive (that's why despite starting with FL I ended up quitting. Ableton's minimalistic design Is quite comfortable to me I am personally fond of the dark theme. I guess Logic looks fine but I am not a MacOS user and I've only used it briefly in school, so I can't say much about it. Pro Tools and Cubase both look atrocious and like they are stuck in 2002. Reaper is getting better with each update but it still looks meh. Can't speak for any other DAW because I didn't use them. I don't know man, I don't see how the competition is doing any better.
Ok for filmscoring or Ambient music, not for regular pop. Nice, but can easily been done with a sampler, without the randomize function. 149€ ? Waay to much for a toy. 49€ would have been a normal price.
Ok so, you put different sounds in one key and that allows you to play them at the same time. So instead of pushing 4 keys at the same time now I can push only one. Mmmmm...
Thank you Native Instruments for letting me beta test and present this. Shouts to the whole team who developed it, a really great tool.
Thank you Robot Koch for the great video. I've had a lot of fun using Playbox so far
LOL! toooo much talking man. way too much.
Ableton instead of KONTAKT - possible ?

Enjoy!
Wow that's definitely something for me, i sometimes like to have an element of coincidence but be than able to control it

Very nicely demonstrated, Robot Koch. Gonna check out your EP, Alchemy, made with it now! Also gonna build a TouchOSC template for Playbox :)

From a graphic designer ‘s point of view i think ableton’s ui is outstanding. Only thing they might want to improve is the library management.
