    Lisa's background vocals on Alexander O'neal's "Criticize" is haunting. That song would not be the same without her

    Heard the background voice on various Jam & Lewis songs. That voice was a constant and well suited to the various artists that borrowed her talents. She's very good at what she does! It's nice to finally put a face to the talent.

    It is amazing how much talent we have here and a lot of us are not even aware of. I have only heard of Lisa Keith when she sang "Making Love in the Rain" ft Janet Jackson on Herb Albert's "Diamonds" album. I was not aware of anything else she had ever done until now. Obsolutely amazing!

I would Love for Her To Do Another Album Like Her Debut, Today!!! Thanks For The Upload!!!

    Thanks again, retrorhythms. This was great. Like others have stated, Lisa is a very talented vocalist. And Uncle Jam is right, Lisa is the rare artist because she has 0 ego. Not saying that artists have egos, but with Lisa, she has always been humble and so laid back, without an ego.

    Aww, that's cool! In '95, I asked a publicist at Perspective about her...and she was already gone from the label. But the lady did not know any specifics. I did notice that Lisa sang on the CD of a Minneapolis rap/gospel artist from last year!

    Indeed a very talented and wide-ranging vocalist! I believe someone posted a comment on another clip of hers that Lisa and her husband are musical ministers at a church. I may be confusing that with another artist who disappeared; but I am pretty sure that she's very involved in church in some way.

    She actually was involved in writing most of the songs on her album (as she talks about in this EPK)! They may not have been as commercial, but the songs are pretty solid imo!

    Been a fan of Lisa Keith for years. So underrated, but I think she wanted it that way. She just wanted to make music and sing. Belive it or not some artists just want to be working artists, and they could care less about the fame.

  • @retrorhythms
    @retrorhythms  15 років тому +1

    I can hear the similarity in some of her vocal runs (and note that she also sang back-up on many of Karyn's songs); but the tone of her voice is definitely distinctive to me! I think if you heard her whole album, you would know what I mean!

  • @retrorhythms
    @retrorhythms  13 років тому +2

    @VIEREMIX I agree. I think the fact that she is white is why the record company decided to promote her in a more pop direction. And since she has contemporary gospel leanings, it seems they sort of went for that Amy Grant-type of thing at the time with the Keith Thomas involvement. Soulful gems like "A Love for All Seasons" and "Days Like These" were criminally overlooked!

    "I hate to be the bearer of bad news" (you Flyte Tyme fiends know where that is from) #LOL ....but her voice jives (no racial music pun intended) WAY BETTER with lush crystal keys, soulful low-key sounds that Jam & Lewis saved for Alexander, The Human League, Cherrelle among others THAT SHE SHUG BKGRD VOCALS ON. I don't like her voice on pop and acoustic records.
    "Making Love In The Rain" (sounded better than Janet on the record although Janet sounded very nice) - she killed it with her adlibs and chorus riffs
    "Diamonds"
    "Our First Christmas" by Alexander O"Neal (she killed that chorus)
    "Hearsay" (album interlude to "Never Knew Love Like This" - she really killed that)
    "Even When You Sleep" by the SOS Band
    Why didn't Jam & Lewis put her out with their late 80s signature sound??? That conflates and angers me! I'm not mad at J&L nor she, but just the shituation.

    • @TheEsquireOfSportsFSU

      @@TheEsquireOfSportsFSU Oh, man, that was too cruel of me to say that the songs would have been better with another voice! Yes, it would have been an improvement, but I feel horrible for dissing Janet Jackon's art as she meant it to be!!!
