I got my onexfly yesterday it feels good in the hand. I have a rog ally ally and still love it. The onexfly feels more comfortable to play games on for longer hours. After an hour or two my hands feel uncomfortable playing on the rog ally.
@@BarelyAverageDude I also like that we can add our own custom images & backgrounds for the games in our library. Asus needs to add that feature for the ally.
I've enjoyed that video and hey, more voices in the space with different opinions is something we should all want as creators, and as viewers. I'm looking forward to your full review but until then, you gave us a good starter course. Keep up the amazing work my guy!
You can tell the difference in certain situations where the fps is fluctuating a lot. PpI talk about VRR and tearing a lot, but if you have VSYNC you won’t really have tearing even if the FPS is below native. VRR is really to smooth out stuttering or the lag between frames, not screen tearing. I will say that my goal is always to get a consistent fps so it’s not a requirement for me; that’s why my favourite device is the Kun and it doesn’t have vrr or 120hz. What I think IS more important is a native landscape screen. That’s not always an issue, but when it is a problem it’s a very annoying problem.
6:37 I have an S22 Ultra too, to this day. The OneXFly was going to be my very first handheld PC by FAR I LOVE its design. But I was one one of those skeptical people about Chinese-limited products. Then I got the ROG Allyz Z1 Extreme. Currently happy with it, but the Fly still looks delicious and I wanna bite it.
Honestly, I really wanna try these other devices, but I don't wanna risk the large amount of money it takes, unless they're established in the US, or have a good warranty/parts replacement (GPD for example, will send me parts under warranty if I can demonstrate the issue).
I honestly don’t trust anyone’s warranty that much (besides valve) Even big companies like ASUS are spacing that department. I just try to be careful with my devices and fix what I can my self. (Luckily haven’t had any major issues) Fun enough I was able to get replacement parts from AYANEO for free and they are known to have less than ideal customer support. I just asked for a part and they sent it for free.
I feel like you didn’t talk about the gpd win mini 2024 very much- what are your thoughts on that one? I was thinking of getting one for then portability but already have an Ally.
Oh it would be cool to see a head to head with the rog ally. Trying to decide since I have the ally if it would be worth getting the win mini because of frequent travel and the portability of the mini :)
@@Rob7911I think the 2024 Win Mini is the best 7in handheld right now. It has the same display as the Ally, but it is more portable, has more ports, more RAM, has optional grips that make ergonomics better.
You could easily play at 120hz while still taking advantage of extra ram. Textures have the smallest effect on performance out of any setting in a game. So if you can increase vram allocation to say 10GB, you'll be able to play at the highest quality texture settings while still getting the same FPS vs crashing/insane stutter on a system w/ only 4-6gb of vram allocated. Thats before we even get to the much better 1% lows & frame times, or even getting to older games w/ tons of texture mods (fallout/skyrim etc)
the FUTURE OF GAME GEAR .. I had the GAME GEAR briefcase and everything.. my parents were mad about using so many batteries LOL . Battery technology is in a different ERA
That’s definitely something to consider, but I actually think it’s a great device overall. *VRR is great* for when FPS is fluctuating, but I always do my best to mitigate FPS fluctuations with setting adjustments; so it’s not the biggest deal in my case.
Exactly. The article that says “best handheld of 2024” is pretty much a joke. It looks like it was written last year but they just updated the title to say 2024. It doesn’t even mention the Deck OLED, but the Deck lcd is on the list. That makes me think it was written before the OLED released because in what world is the OLED not even mentioned but the LCD is? 🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ I bought it just to test the claim
Great device, but too small for me. I have a win 4 (6800u) and I think the design is amazing, but I like a larger device that’s more comfortable to hold.
Yeah it's not as exciting as they hyped it up to be. But we knew that they was no new processor available from AMD unless they went fully custom and got something that's a full generation ahead. (Not happening)

i sold my legion go..its too big for me..i cant put it on my bag...i cant find onexfly here in my country so i pick up gpd win mini
Win mini is my favourite small device. 👍🏽
I sold my deck for the mini for the same reason. It's the only handheld with a 7" that is actually portable. I love the mini.

@BarelyAverageDude as the screen size same as the steam deck screen

I don’t see the purpose of vrr on a 7” screen. Can you tell the difference? I own both devices and I don’t see a difference.

Hope you didn't get rip off by Asus tho😂
Size doesn't matter, its the performance that matters most. Thats what my wife says 😂
😂 lol you got a good one.
But in that case, performance is pretty similar across the board for 7000/8000 series handhelds.
Future Onexfly 2 needs to have QD-OLED screen
That would be awesome!
But we need to see a 7in 120hz OLED display before it makes its way to these smaller manufacturers.

It's actually real fly pro f1

Is one x fly more powerful than ally x because the ram bigger and the bettery life 65w which bigger than steam oled
the problem i have with these chinese brands are the lack of supported accessories you can buy compared to Steamdeck and ROG Ally.
