I met Dale many years ago at the Mount Vernon shop when I was Harley shopping. He showed me a few new bikes then asked me if I liked old bikes and I told him that I loved them. He forgot about selling me a bike and we spent 3 hours in the museum and he told me about his dream to move the museum. He treated me like an old friend and when I brought my brother to see the museum he remembered me and we walked by the new bikes and went directly to the museum and we spent hours looking at the collection. I am proud that Matt is keeping Dales sprit alive and I know he is proud of him. When we were discussing a new bike he even offered to help with the down payment. He was a true ambassador to the motorcycle world and it has definitely been passed down to Matt. I tried to visit you a few years ago however the museum was closed but I will make it soon.
Sounds like a truly special guy. Hope you can make it out to meet his son.
Dale sounds like he was a really cool guy. You can see Matt was raised well and shares his knowledge. My dad gave me his 47 knucklehead, it's in the makes to be running again. I listen to Matt closely for any knowledge I can pick up. I'll get to the museum eventually, maybe next year for the drawing. It's a long ways from Seattle.
WOW 😢. Great motor but the way Matt can just rattle things off is amazing!
I love autistic savants. They are so knowledgeable and talented
So proud of Matt, he really does his late great dad Dale justice. It's like he went to the motorcycle college of knowledge.
In a better way he did.. From the man him self, Dale was great !
Knowledge is amazing , he knows it all

Goosebumps and tears when you turn that crank by hand ... 👍👍
Definitely interesting history, but really got a chuckle, about how things have changed, when the picture of Joe on a race bike dressed in a shirt & tie, with a sweater... Not only style, but respect... Thanx !

In Phil Irving's iconic book, "Tuning For Speed" he recommended blocking off one exhaust port in any dual port, 2 valve engine.
Pauls a massive legend, much love and respect from Australia
...just an incredible find.
Very, very cool. Hopefully the guy with all of the parts will let the museum have/buy some of them. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
So so much history! Incredible!
Cool stuff!! Did you guys ever get that sprinkler system upgrade done?
We are getting the first half installed this winter!
@@wheelsthroughtime EXCELLENT NEWS 👏
Huge score! Hope to see who raced the bike the motor came out of.

Matt, you need to find out where this barn owner drinks coffee and be there! I wouldn't want to guess what that P shooter engine might be worth- awesome find! FR
Amazing find for the future of the museum ! Wow , thanks for sharing Matt !
Thanks for watching!
Bring the old guy down to visit!
He might think that is the place for his dad's collection?
Great find and a great friend with the same passion to keep HD history alive.
Amazing how these things survive great video bud now when do we see that fully loaded red knuckle you brought back from the auto jumble??
What a great find!!
Wheels through time is definitely on my bucket list!!! Such amazing pieces of history ❤️
The knowledge this guy has needs to be passed on before it's lost. Incredible.
Has to be the funnest class to race. Might need to sweet talk this old Mt.Climber. Get him a pocketbook sweetener. He has what it's about, trying to find where it goes. He could have the 2 you're missing.
Hope you have had a profitable year. Hope you smash all maintenence, and expansion goals.
We had a great year, and we are starting phase one of the fire suppression this winter. Thank you for the support!
It your knowledge that makes this channel so enjoyable, keep it up, your museum is a NATIONAL treasure

Super cool
Hello Matt my Dad an a few friends in England in the late 1950s all had contemporary British hotrods of the day, BSA GoldStars or Norton Inters.
But they also where buying up earlier Raceing Machines to Race around various dis used aerodromes, mainly KTT or KSS velocettes but amongst them was a Twin Port Rudge, this thing was fast! Unusually it had metal sleeves in the twin exhaust ports that sat in an internal shoulder an where held in place by the exhaust downpipe an nut.
This was by all accounts for running different compression pistons for when on methanol or other dope race fuels, you could adjust the Port size an thus alter the Velocity I guess an reduce the flow at the same time.
Maybe a Pea Shooter could run with an unblocked port if sleaved down?!
They first came across these sleeves when the exhaust got loose an they rattled to hell, they thought it was a Goosed Motor.
It had more go than the vellocettes which was a big surprise.
Multiple sleeves one within another.
Best to you best to all.
Awesome find. Can't wait to get back up to WTT.
Cool video! Why is there a "2-29" forged in the bottom end? Did Harley hang on to parts that long before they were used and serialized?
That is super cool
Great find
WOW ! Very Nice!!!
Wow!
Is the best friend to forever
That's a friend!
#1= amazing.....Thanks Matt.....
Shoe🇺🇸
Thanks Matt 👍
greatest museum in the world
🇺🇸 Outstanding Find
Cool
That is so cool, I want to take it apart for some reason.
There was a guy in the '60s that a barn full of Indian parts. His main ride was a '53 Indian 80. He'd bought it new. He's been dead a long time, no idea what happened to the barn full of parts.
Had a BSA single motor, that had twin port head with one port blanked off, must have been some 'know how' behind the mod'.
Would love to hear that engine fire up
What jacket is Matt wearing? Looks nice!
As usual always enjoy 🤓
Great motorcycle history but the older generation appreciates this stuff. Younger people dont care about history.
👍👍
My dream is to one day tour the museum, and meet Matt
We would love to have you!
Also stuff
👍☮️🇨🇦
Did you get my text with my address so you can send whatever I w o n to my house. It's so cool I can't wait till I find whatever I got. I hope the guy who got the Harley knucklehead enjoys the bike.
You're reply to me got deleted what did you say?
Unfortunately, this was a scam account impersonating us to contact you, it wasn’t us. But thank you for watching and supporting Wheels Through Time!
Holy smokes....
Plot twist: ALL of those engines came with the last two digits “01”. Turns out Barney the serial number stamper was really lazy and figured nobody would ever know. 😅
Haha!
@@wheelsthroughtime Hey thanks! Y’all have been a direct inspiration - I built a LEGO 1920’s track bike and gave y’all a shout-out in the video. I would be honored if y’all would check it out. Thanks!
So depressing to see all the advances in modern motorcycle technology has only gotten us to the point of throw away bikes. You'll never see a 2024 Harley Davidson product still running in 100 plus years.
Lete guess more Harley shit !! God I miss your dad !
we all do mate ,just an amazing wealth of knowledge ,so glad hes boy took an interest and listened to hes father
