    In this episode Matt talks about factors to consider when matching streamers to river conditions. This includes river and environmental factors, and three big things to pay attention to when you're buying flies or deciding what tie for the next big trip. No, we're not going to tell you exactly what fly to throw but we hope this will help you pay attention to the correlations between what works in certain conditions and why.
    As always, leave us some comments! We love hearing from you! Have you found a fly selection system that works for you or is it just a free for all?

    Great tutorial. Mentioning a deerhair mouse, @ a show a guide from Alberta gave me one. Not unlike the sculpin, killer lure. Fished anywhere, anytime.

    I had the opportunity to fly fish on the manistee and couldn't believe the trout i was catching. Beautiful river with beautiful fish. Michigan might just be my favorite state.

    Do a couple cuts to references. Like a quick cut to the fog and beautiful morning conditions.

    Hi, Matt!
    Great explanation, thank you for that! That Madsen's Skunk fly pattern is something new for me, so I can't wait to test it on our local streams! Btw, how do you present this fly in the water? I guess its behaviour might be different from, for example, Muddler Minnow.
    Regards from Prague and tight lines!

    Hey brother, great video but you need to really tone down on the really. Minor thing to say for sure because your content is great but just something to consider. Thanks and keep up the great work.

    How do you rig for streamers?

    • @TheNorthernAnglerFlyShop
      @TheNorthernAnglerFlyShop  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Christopher, thanks for leaving us a comment. We were hoping to get a streamer rigging video shot before the snow showed up here in Northern Michigan but the basic rig is this: 6-8wt rod, sink tip line 200-300 grains (length dependent on river system), short leader (less than 5ft of maxima 10-12lb) and then your fly. We see too many folks overthinking it and complicating things with tapering leaders when it's not necessary. Hope you get out to fish soon!

    If I had the money I'd offer 20k to come to Utah and streamer fish the Lower Provo River....because Fk that river! I've fished hundreds of hours and dozens and dozens of streamer patterns on it and caught like 20 fish. I've tried every technique there is....I

    So in CO it just snowed a lot and the river is very cold is it still good for streamer fishing?

    • @ColorfulCOFlyFishing

      Temperature wise

    • @TheNorthernAnglerFlyShop
      @TheNorthernAnglerFlyShop  3 роки тому +1

      Fish gotta eat right? Biggest thing is to adapt your presentation to the conditions. The colder the water, the less fish are going to chase your flies so make sure your flies are getting down right to where fish are holding and slow your retrieve speed down. Take temps when you get to the river and keep notes on what you try and what works; eventually you will find a fish willing to eat!

      Brrrrr! Pick your days wisely but I found living out west tailwater fish tend to be a little more active than our Midwest fish in cold water.

    This is easily the best fly fishing video i've seen on the tube. Maybe a Euro Nymphing video of this caliber?
