You can still save a cracked aluminum head. Find a guy with a tig welder so he can gouge out the crack and weld the crack with 4043 filler rod . You could hide it and rebuild the fins that are broken off . It would honestly take me 2 1/2 hrs of work for me to fix if I were using them . All not hard to do for the proper guy. I repeat not scrap or walk hangers
The big problem I see is you don't know how much you took off the head (thousandths of an inch) so you won't know the amount to take off the other head so you get the same compression ratio for both sides. You also won't know how much to take off the piston crowns to establish the proper CR for the engine to run reliably. Better you should just hang the on the wall and call it good.
Gosh darn dangnabbit. Thanks.
Yeah, couldn't have put it better my self.

All that work...
I guess that’s why the first thing they do at an actual machine shop is clean and check for flaws…🤷♂️
Get some offenhauser heads
I have never seen a machinist use a beltsander to dress a sealing surface of a cylinder head
Mostly cause its a bad idea.

You made it that far… why don’t you just weld up the other side? 🤷♂️
