- There are numerous ferry routes around the San Francisco Bay, operated by several companies. The Golden Gate Ferry operates a few routes, including this one from San Francisco to Larkspur. It features frequent service on weekdays, and adequate sailings on the weekend, comfortable facilities, and great views. When coupled with a train ticket for the SMART service to Sonoma, north of San Francisco, the ferry trip is also a great value.
We enjoyed this trip on a fabulous day in January. The video is a brief review of the facilities on-board the Golden Gate Ferry G. T. Marin ship.

I take this ferry fairly often on my trips to San Francisco, i'm glad to see that you seemingly enjoyed it as much as I do!
Yes, that trip is great! The ships are in good shape, views amazing, and the availability of a little snack bar quite convenient. We don't have frequent reasons to use the Golden Gate Ferry services, but when we do, it's a great choice.
Gotta say, you're doing some top notch reviews of Bay Area transit options! These are great!
I would love to see a video on using the local transit options for some special purpose trips. It would be interesting to see you attempt to take the train to Tahoe - Sugar Bowl, Boreal, Northstar, and Soda Springs seem like they may be accessible via shuttles from the Truckee Amtrak. And maybe a trip to the beach would also be interesting to see via Gilroy (Caltrain + bus) or Salinas (Coast Starlight + bus to Santa Cruz or Monterey/Carmel).
Thank you for your kind feedback, and sorry for the delayed response; we've been traveling without much spare time. I record all material myself and create the videos, so while they may not be polished, hopefully they are informative.
Your suggestions are great. In fact, I thought of going to Monterey from Sacramento via the Capitol Corridor train and a bus connection in San Jose, but haven't done much to investigate this yet. The ski area trips may also be possible, but do require some research. I have, however, looked into a trip from Sacramento to Yosemite, via a San Joaquin train departure and a bus connection through Merced. It doesn't look too bad time-wise, and considering the recent Yosemite overcrowding, seems like a much more relaxing and stress free trip. I'll work on scheduling that one into our plans.
I love the quiet ambience.
This is high quality footage, both sound and video. What where you shooting with?
Thank you!
The video was shot with a GoPro Hero 10 Black, on the 4K setting, with the build in microphone. It's a great camera, and I love working with it.
Well made video 👍 thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
I take this very often on my way to work. Usually we have different vessels like the one where when you were leaving on the side, I haven’t seen much of this vessel lately
And that’s when the other gate the main gate was broken so they use the other one
A great way to commute, I think... :-)
@@BordRestaurant Yes, it is
Lol I like how the button to flush the toilet was labeled "Royal Flush." :P
Humor is always good! :-)
taking a ferry is like taking a Yacht to your destination.
And a lot easier on the budget... :-)
Fun fact: I live next to the larkspur ferry
Must be very convenient for these quick trips to the city.
