  • It's the dilemma every seasoned traveler faces: wait out a layover in the airport, or get out and explore. In this episode of ‪@windowseatworldtravel‬, we throw caution to the wind and show you just how easy it is to escape the airport terminal and embark on an urban adventure. Our latest example: a four hour layover at Heathrow airport. Is that enough time to get into central London? You better believe it is - and we'll show you just how easy it is to do. Catch an express train, and you'll be in London in 15 minutes. And believe us - it's far better than wasting four hours in an airport lounge.

    I'm glad you posted this vid. I have a five hour layover in London coming up in a few months and this vid convinced me NOT to get on a train and explore - London just didn't look interesting enough (not for 100 bucks anyway) Side note, that black phone booth isn't the type that we normally think of when we think of London (4:58), they're red.

    So happy to find your video. Traveling to Kenya this November from the US. Coming back I have a 7 hour layover. There’s no way I was missing out on sightseeing London. Wasn’t sure how I was going to get it done arriving at 5:40am and leaving at 1:40pm. But I believe it’s doable!

    Jeremy, awesome use of time. I'm no fan of dept store shopping but Harrods - love that place. Best bakery I've ever found, even with the exorbitant prices.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    I will have 10 hours layover in London UK. I can't wait to enjoy my layover visiting all the places there. Plus shopping at Harrods store😊

    Thank you very much for this. I have a twelve hour layover coming up in July and I plan on doing just this but I want a Harrod's bear. And yes I know I can get one in the store in Terminal Five but where is the adventure in that!!! I wonder if there is a luggage storage service in Terminal Five? Off to do some research! Keep up the good work!

    Hi your video is very very informative. Thank you so much.
    Being a Canadian citizen do we need any kind of permit / visa to go out of the London airport?
    How long did it take for you to come from paddington to Harrods in the cab ?

    • @windowseatworldtravel
      @windowseatworldtravel  2 дні тому

      You shouldn’t need a visa with a Canadian passport. I believe you can stay for 6 months Visa free. It took about 20-30 minutes to Harrods from Paddington station.

    Could I ask about the process when you land? Do you exit with the arriving passengers or with the transit passengers first?

    • @windowseatworldtravel
      @windowseatworldtravel  7 місяців тому +1

      You exit just as if you’re leaving the airport. And you’ll have to go back through security when you return. But the process is easy and fast.

    Will a 3 hour layover be ok to go out in the city and back from Gatwick?

    • @windowseatworldtravel
      @windowseatworldtravel  6 місяців тому

      I think that’s too tight! Gatwick is too far away if you ask me.

    So you didnt have to go through customs?
    How did they let you out the airport to explore? I keep hearing different things on this part.

      "...let you out of the airport"? How can they keep you from leaving?

      @GuyGabriel-eu7hb A friend of mine who lives over there told me that sometimes it's difficult for them to allow you to leave the airport. So I was curious to know others' experiences. Have you done so?
