In this video I failed to mention that Ulysses S. Grant did very briefly stay at a home in 1860 in Galena with his family and is open for tours. We didn’t even drive past the house this visit but would like to do more history tours such as his home upon a future visit. There’s a lot more to uncover in Galena’s history! But this visit was more for recreational purposes 🙂
I graduated high school from Galena. It has totally changed to a yuppie Outpost for affluent Chicago ex pats .

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed and found it useful. Finally working on the Chicago one and plan to finish up in the near future. But yeah Galena was a good time. Need to return to see more of its history and other offerings.
I feel it's missing the point to not mention Ulysses S Grant and that fact that it was his home for a while and that Abraham Lincoln gave a speech from the historic hotel there. More interesting that details of coffee houses and grocery stores

We didn’t do much history this go around so it wasn’t really the video’s focus but more or less just what we did on this short weekend trip and those things to do on Main Street. I definitely missed a few pointers there I could have added in though. Work in progress. 👍🏻
