My first car was a 72 Gran Torino. It was just a grocery-getter, not a Sport, that originally had a 351W. It was given to me at 15 and was a "if you can get it running you can have it" thing. I learned a lot from that car!

How spectacular this 1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport looks in the sun with that green (Ivy Glow) and the large side reflective stripes! I like the large, mouth-style front grille, with its twin headlights, and the additional "Ram" air intake on the hood; plus the handsome rectangular taillights recessed into the one-piece chrome bumper (special mention to the immaculate "Cobra Jet" V8 engine bay). Excellent interior combination, with seats, doors and upholstery in green, along with the elegant instrument panel full of dials. Perfect day for the final tour; with that beautiful shot showing his brilliant beak crossing the road... Congratulations to Mr. Lucarz, for his 26 years alongside this Great Classic! Great video, Lou!
Hi Douglas, Thanks for sharing the details you notice and enjoy. Happy to read you subscribed and welcome to the Channel. Hope you see MANY more cars you enjoy, Lou
I saw a 72 Torino for the first time in the dealer showroom the day they first went on sale in October 1971. I fell in love with the car. I was a college age student at the time and didn't have the ability to buy it, but it was one of the many cars I saw in the showroom and wished I could buy it. That stripe on the side was a really cool thing to see at night when streetlights or other car headlights reflected off of it. It had a changing look to it as it went from the front to the back. I do wish Ford was still making cars like that. Surely, there would be more cars on the road than SUVs if they did.
These cars used a rigid body/flexible chassis design first seen in the '65 ful sized Fords, fantastic handling; fabulous detail. Speed limiter for novices who missed a shift!! Thanks guys
I guy up the street in the next development had one of these in a bronzed brown color in the 1970s. I was never a Torino guy but his did look and sound good. Overtime Torinos have grown on me.
Very nice car. This Torino is the nicest one I seen. Love the green paint with a light green stripe. The 351 Cleveland with a four speed is nice also. Thanks for showing this beautiful car guys.
Rarely do I like a green-on-green car, but these Torino’s are an exception. I owned the ‘73 version of this car in the late ‘70’s, but with the more common automatic. There was very little ‘Cobra Jet’ left in that 351 by ‘73, as mine could only muster a 16.8@83 mph at E-town but boy that was a quiet comfortable enjoyable car, especially on the highway. What a great example of a seldom seen car. Great video Lou!

Hi Lou. It's always a pleasure watching your videos. As for this outstanding automobile, wow! This to me is a mans car. Big loud powerful and you need some fast hands for when it gets a bit squirly after you put your foot down too hard. This could be one of the best of the best for sure.....26 year custodian. This man loves this vehicle for sure. I thank the Lord for guy's like Anthony and you Lou. Without you, this world would be so boring......."ear to ear grin everytime"...... awesome!
Sharp looking car, wow! Love the color and side stripe and magnum 500 wheels, hood scoop - all complement a great looking body. Great stuff Lou and thanks!
Pretty sure the Gran Torino Sport used in the movie was paint code 4Q, Dark Metallic Green. In the 1980's I had one in the same dark metallic green paint.
Lou you covered the instructions that were in the interior but blew by the radio that i think had a cassette player. You mention the console and emblem but fail to mention any functional console details. Lou you drive me crazy! Other than the video of the interior you did an awesome job on the exterior.
Nice car, for sure, many thanks. Didn't you do one just like it a few years ago? That ram air is uber-rare on these, most you see are made up from other year/model parts. If you have to have one, this would be it. 👍
Hi 1969, You are paying attention. Nice work! Yes, this car has been featured before, however we did not take it for a ride, and there are a few more updates to the restoration, Lou
I have seen this car before and it is absolutely amazing. Love the functional scope! Just Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This just never gets old. Of course I would like it in Black!
great video as always lou. i just cant get enough of watching your videos of great classic automobiles. still waiting for the video of a late model chrysler minivan. LOL. JUST JOKING LOU.
Hi sly 23, Happy to read you're enjoying the videos with me :-) It's funny you share "late model Chrysler minivan", because I was convinced I would not video station wagons as they are "technically" not cars. However a Friend convinced me to video his, and it had GREAT success, so now I'm looking for good station wagons too :-) Maybe Minivan in the future? If the demand is there, you never know, Lou
What a great looking Gran Torino Sport! I had one back in the 1980's, but mine was not a Cobra Jet, not even a 351C-2V. No, mine was saddled with the 400-2V engine. With lots of machining and parts, I did build a replacement 400 that was a real tire melter. I sold it in the mid 90's, really miss that car.

My parents former neighbor had a son with a 73 Gran Torino, this body style. I remember it in the late 1970's. His was black with gold stripes down the side, and black interior.
Great story, Lou! A childhood friend of mines parents had one in medium blue with a blue interior. May have had a 351 Windsor V-8, but was definitely an automatic. Rode to school in it a time or two! Cheers!😁👍🛠️🔧

Happy to read "One of my dream cars one of the most beautiful ever built" :-) High praise.
I'm so happy to see this video, i was parked next to Tony at the Fairlane Club of America show in St.Louis in 2003, very happy to see he still owns his. I owned my 72 for 40 years and 4 months and sold it with 14,455 miles on it. Two thumbs up buddy!

The hose says RAD, i couldn't agree more❤
:-)
Without you, this world would be so boring......."ear to ear grin everytime"...... awesome!
Hi cymatics, High praise. Happy to read "ear to ear grin everytime" :-) NICE! Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Ford always had some nice green shades back in the day.
Thank you for sharing.
Sharp looking car, wow! Love the color and side stripe and magnum 500 wheels, hood scoop - all complement a great looking body. Great stuff Lou and thanks!
Hi Bruce H. Happy to read "Sharp looking car, wow!" :-) You're welcome, Lou
So reminiscent of the Eastwood movie. Wasn't his a darker shade of green? Really nice restoration
Hi Tony, Not sure if Clint's was darker green. Hoping a Viewer can share knowledge. Glad you enjoy this restoration, Lou
Pretty sure the Gran Torino Sport used in the movie was paint code 4Q, Dark Metallic Green. In the 1980's I had one in the same dark metallic green paint.
Thanks for another unique car presentation. Love the color, wheels, and overall appearance
Hi Ike, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
I just watched the movie Gran Torino on Saturday.
NICE!
Nice. I think it had a '64 Impala SS as well in the film.
What an amazing example.. and love the 4 speed and the hood scoop!.. unique it is…
Happy to read you enjoy this "amazing example" :-)
Beautiful car
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
@@loucostabile I have a 71 mu 351 Cleveland build like a boss

Hi Annoyed Coastal Beach, Happy to read "Always loved the 72 best" :-) Lou
Great Locker and a great specimen !
Happy to read you enjoy this "great specimen !" :-)
Lookin good bro!
:-)
Lou you covered the instructions that were in the interior but blew by the radio that i think had a cassette player. You mention the console and emblem but fail to mention any functional console details. Lou you drive me crazy! Other than the video of the interior you did an awesome job on the exterior.
Bill, "Lou you drive me crazy!" My wife used to say when we were dating...in a good way, and now she just kinda nags, well like you :-)
He has an eight track tape player.
Awesome car..
Happy to read "Awesome car" :-)
All 4 car makers being GM, Ford, Chrysler and AMC offered the Magnum 500 rims as an option in the late 60s and early 70s.
Hi Nicky, Thanks for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
Hi Daniel, Happy to read "Just Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" :-)
WOW! Sweet ride. Where is Walt Kowalski?
Happy to share this "Sweet ride." :-)
great video as always lou. i just cant get enough of watching your videos of great classic automobiles. still waiting for the video of a late model chrysler minivan.
If the demand is there, you never know, Lou
i think everyone is a car person. because from time to time we all have gas. LOL. @@loucostabile

Very nice! I have had a 73 4-speed Gran Torino Sport for the past 48 years. I bought it from the original owner with 11 thousand miles on. It has close to 39 thousand miles on now. Not resorted, but just about as nice as that. I have the original window sticker and all the paperwork.
Hi Harry, Happy to read you have a cool car too. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

My parents former neighbor had a son with a 73 Gran Torino, this body style. I remember it in the late 1970's. His was black with gold stripes down the side, and black interior.

Hi Robert, How nice to drive this Torino in Torino Italy :-) You're welcome, Lou
Great story, Lou! A childhood friend of mines parents had one in medium blue with a blue interior. May have had a 351 Windsor V-8, but was definitely an automatic. Rode to school in it a time or two! Cheers!😁👍🛠️🔧
