    I've used this controller for years and my major problem is there's no setting for total kwh generated for the day. You have to manually connect the un provided cable and connect to mppt tracker software to generate daily kwh.
    Also another major issue is when you get to float and dump a heavy load on the inverter, it cancels float and starts bulk charging again. This takes about 30 seconds and meanwhile the heavy load will be supplied by your batteries during those 30 seconds which can trigger low voltage disconnect of your inverter. Also even though the heavy load was used for say 3 minutes, when it cancels float and reverts back to bulk, it will start absorption charging again for 120 minutes thereby overcharging your batteries

    Good Day Sir, i have a question.
    In a none hybrid setup where you have a felicity inverter and a felicity MPPT controller installed separately, How would the inverter (connected to grid) know when the MPPT is charging so as not to overcharge the battery? is there a way to make both devices (Inverter & MPPT) communicate with each other?

    • @smilinsunsmilinsun8056
      @smilinsunsmilinsun8056  7 місяців тому

      Thanks for reaching out with this very important question.
      The inverter and charge controller are set with the charge limit voltage capacity. If the voltage is set to 58 volts for instance it will never take the voltage higher than that. It is also set to Absorption charge duration. Lets assume that to be 120 minutes , once it gets to that duration it will stop charging. It is also set to current limit. If the set current limit 60 Amps and the inverter is supplying 30 Amps the charge controller will limit its own charge current to 30 Amps which cumulatively makes 60 Amps. It goes on and on.

      Check your panel configurations.
      You did not mention the specifications of your solar charge controller. I presume you are using 60amps 48v solar charge controller or higher?
      Since you have 8 solar panels, your best configuration will be to connect 4 panels in series to get two strings and then parallel the two strings making sure the Voc (open circuit voltage of the panels) is not above 150v (maximum input voltage of the felicity charge controller).
      However, the above may not be the problem. Majority of the solar panels sold in Nigeria are substandard. Many panels will not even produce close to half of their rated wattage. That is why you must buy high quality solar panels. Yes the quality of solar panels matters very much. I had similar experience where my 320w x 8 solar panels (made up of 320wx 4 MS solar panel and 320w x 4 Joy solar panel, both monochrystalline) hardly produces close to 1000w.
      Solution: I had to upgrade my solar panel by buying higher quality new 455w monochrystalline Canadian solar panels from prag in Lagos. I'm currently 100% off grid. I have 24hrs lights.

      @@smilinsunsmilinsun8056 Correct. Spec sheet shows: Compatible for PV systems in 12V, 24V or 48V. So either only use two batteries or obtain a fourth. If you have no other choice, a person could manually cycle the battery connections round-robin style every few hours, where only two batteries are being charged at a time. But that would be very time intensive.

      @wilsoneffiong3243 7 місяців тому +1

      Yes , that is why it's called heat sink. It's supposed to be hot when in use.
      Make sure it's mounted in a good well ventilated location (with plenty of space to allow easy airflow around it).
      From experience, solar charge controller with heat sink are more durable than the cheap fan cool China Solar charge controller. I nearly had a fire outbreak when the fan in one of my charge controller failed while in operation and the charge controller became extremely hot with burning smell. I was just lucky to spot it promptly and shut down the system. I did my research and upgraded my charge controllers to one with heat sink.
      Just provide enough ventilation to your heat sink based solar charge controller and make sure your panel Voc does not exceed your solar charger maximum input voltage.
