    nice one you put the video back up, I got one sent to australia, arrived in about 2 weeks, no packaging foam around the box, but it survived very nicely, worked first go, bluetooth connected no issues with samsung s7 android. Haven't hooked up solar or load yet but looking good, a real shame we dont have access to same products you have in usa, our population way way smaller I guess is the issue.
    On the bright side we know what is coming eventually.

      @@BradCagle bro the victron was kinda life changing in a way. I mean I know that sounds weird but when I was having the erratic voltage jumping up and down and charge controller turning itself off and just blinking with the powmr I was worried to walk away from it with it hooked up thinking it might destroy my batteries and when it was the leaf batteries I worried about fires. Now with the victron it just charges smoothly and everything just works.

    Another nice find Brad.
    I was impressed with the last 24V battery builds efficiency that I am now building a 48V system for my camper trailer. I'm using a different approach to solar charging - one mppt boost converter per solar panel (4 solar panels) all feeding the 48V battery. A little on the edge, but I think it will work. The boost converters were pretty cheap, but multiply x 4 and it gets up there. Still, I'll have 4 completely independent solar chargers, so this must amount to exceptional reliability.

    • @BradCagle
      @BradCagle  Рік тому

      That's a sweet idea Ben! I just picked up a 20ft camper trailer myself. There's so much crap on the roof I'm trying to figure out how to get the most solar up there.

    • @MiniLuv-1984
      @MiniLuv-1984 Рік тому +2

      @@BradCagle Good luck with that. My camper has a roof rack that swings sideways and puts the solar panels in the vertical, so I've had to hinge the roof rack so I can flip it horizontal again. Adding struts at the moment to make the solar panel flip a little easier.

      I questioned using this on a 12v RV because of it being positive grounded. I was told by some at Rich solar that it is unusual to be a positive ground but that it doesn't matter as long as I don't ground it or the panels. There is no grounding wire anyway. 3 days in it is working

Unfortunately neither of the USB ports will charge anything (tried conencting it to multiple 12v batteries with no luck as well as multiple USB cables and devices) Despite going thru the settings and setting it to "custom" to adjust the charge parameters for my 12v ,3S 18650 Li-Ion battery (which the voltage range I want to opperate it at is 9.6v-12.6v which means im running the individual cells to 3.2v-4.2v) and it will not charge it. Primary charging is usually done at the absorption setting.
    Heat sinks work MUCH better when they are straight up vertical.
    And a year or so later (27 Dec 2024), Sunthysis has mostly disappeared. Amazon has the 50 amp controller ($85.99 just before I posted this) and a lot of negative reviews of that unit. "Worked until it didn't" is NOT a review you want to see on any product of a manufacturer when you have another of their products. Still some Sunthysis pure sine wave inverters and some solar panels but I think they are singing their swan song. Disappointing when they looked so good at the start :-(

I would say either put fan on the load side to help with the heat on it or mount it to an aluminum panel or something to help dissipate the heat. A small 12 volt computer fan should do it I think.
    I wanted to check to make sure I got it right, when it says max input 260 or 400 watts or whatever it is rated at, is that the solar panel input or max of what it will put into the battery?

    If this is in actuality an MPPT controller, it will be the first with usb ports…
    Every other “mppt” controller that has usb ports is just a pwm controller with an odd algorithm. Fake…

      I've seen the pwm ones that are labeled mppt you mentioned. This one is real. I opened it up, and it has inductors and the PV voltage is in the correct range, etc..
