    I like your videos but you tend to overexplain/overteach. There should be a balance on underexplaining and overexplaining. Sometimes you need to explain things at the time it is needed. Not beforehand. Learning as you explore, as they say, so we know the context of your explanation and motivation of actions.
    So, there you go. A little conservative criticism for an improvement. ;)

      Hey Edward! For this type of video that’s the aim as the game was in prototype form and I had one of the first videos out for it for the campaign. When I do a Showcase of this one in the future it will certainly involve less explanation. Thanks for the feedback! 😄

    So this is basically a boss battler wrapped in a narative campaign. How does it compare against KDM or even Dark Souls.

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  2 роки тому

      That could be one way to explain it high level. It provides much more interesting decisions during battle between dice/cards. It also is easier to get into than KDM. It’s a nice blend of the two games you mentioned but with a whole twist of its own in terms of design, game flow, combat and narrative.

    It feels more like you get a penalty for removing one bodypart because one attack from the rat can be very critical and all you earn is nothing for the side or only 2 animus for the front. For my understanding removing one body part should weaken the broodmother and not reward her with an extra attack?

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  5 років тому

      Consider it a natural reaction to being badly hurt. Makes sense the enemy would adjust after a massive hit. All of the reactions are handled within the stage cards in terms of balance. Cheers!

    • @aedraxis3011
      @aedraxis3011 5 років тому +5

      @@RollingSolo You are right but i really wish it would be a natural reaction on both sides so the encounter becomes more 'realistic'. For example if the broodmother lose a die on one side she can only move half the distance... if you remove the dice on both sides she can't move any more. If you remove the die from the front her vision gets blurry because blood runs into her eyes - now you are allowed to remove one die from every attack.

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  5 років тому +2

      I see what your saying! I like that and hope it has that sort of thing built in. It’s hard to know if all the future encounters may be built like that. This being the first major encounter in the game I assume it’s also the most basic in terms of mechanics for the Broodmother and things will ramp up in future Chapters. I believe what you’re speaking to could exist on the encounter card specific to the ‘thing’ you’re dealing with. At least that’s the logical place for those types of rules to exist but is unknown atm! :)

    Great overview video 🙏🏼, if I may ask about the card you played at minute 30:30, for the 2nd/3rd options , one should pay 4 animus in order to do a single battle flow, or pay 5 animus to replenish combat card decks, isn’t!?

    Yaaay another awesome video, havent fully finished yet but it really helps seeing how the Companions differ to the main characters, with the extra archetypes unlocked as stretchgoals this could give so much extra potential for those characters being nice to plug gaps such as healing or multiple different range attacks. The warbear is very quickly becoming a character I REALLY want to play 😁 Thanks Adam 👍

    By the looks of it the cit and encantor boards are fairly large and I'm guessing they will not both be set up at the same time. Therefore I'm guessing you would need to take one down and set the other up when switching play styles. How do you feel this will affect the flow of the game?

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  5 років тому +1

      You can have them both setup or just focus on one at a time or per play seasion. Setup time for them is no problem and the storage solution they are going to offer is going to make it even better. Hope that helps!

    Thank you so much for finally giving us a gameplay video where we actually do see the cards and gameboard instead of some guys talking next to it 😁👍 now what to think about this game? I'm still not sold on it. Many cards seem to have tons of text on them, and I'm also not a fan of the escalating decks. Going into it with only six hit points seems hard enough on stage 1, how to survive stage 3? But maybe it's also this specific encounter, as I hate enemies that spawn minions and this one spawns a lot... Probably dropping out of this unless they come up with a German language edition. It just does not look fun enough... 🤷 Thank you so much for your great work 👍👍👍

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  5 років тому +3

      Thanks for watching! I believe that’s a part of the fun from my multiple plays. The battle has turned out very differently each time I’ve played it. Six hit points sounds low but when you take into account how hits are divided by defence(so you can handle quite a good number of hits), plus you can use a card in your hand to boost your defence before the attack roll and defence tokens, there’s ways to avoid damage. Of course positioning is key as well. This is also key when making your party of four. Thanks for watching :)

      Hello Clyde! Great question and there’s a a couple reasons. First, I want to avoid spoiling the entire encounter as this is the first major one of the game. Second, I thought it was more important to get an idea of the rules, mechanisms and flow of the combat. Hope it helped you out! Cheers :)

    So.. if the exile would get knocked out, would the player controlling him just sit out the whole encounter? Seems like a player elimination problem to me.

    • @Cloudman572
      @Cloudman572 5 років тому +1

      You could get that player to play the enemy. If you were playing 2 or 3 player then you can continue with the companion "players" or allies.

    • @anthonynelson8397
      @anthonynelson8397 5 років тому +2

      When a player is knocked out, one of the allies steps into the fight. The player would control this ally. There will be 4 characters in combat, including allies.

    So players have to trigger battle flow to move cards around their player boards? I would have guested that during refresh every card moves one space (3 to 2 or 2 to 1) and that players could speed that up with token and/or card play.

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  5 років тому +1

      Hey Jason! Indeed the player triggers the Battleflow. So there’s strategy to getting those cards around and back into your hand. At least the ones your after anyway. :)

    Hi Adam! Thank you for sharing yet more info on this game and helping us see for ourselves if we like the game.
    One question for you: are the parts of the minis in the prototype removable? The one thing that leaves me wondering on the KS page is that they are going to use "HIPS" as material for the minis, and this is the first time I hear of minis being made from it. So I was wondering if it was already in action in your prototype? Thanks again and have a nice Sunday! Regards to Serenity!

    I really wish this had been longer I would have liked to have seen more rounds. It was a let down after going through the full narrative in the previous video. It all most feels as if it was sped up because combat might feel repetitive and boring. This video has me contemplating removing my pledge.

    • @RollingSolo

      Hello! That’s an interesting take. I certainly didn’t want to spoil the entire Chapter 1 encounter. I’ve played it on and off camera a total of four times now and each time it’s planned out differently in terms of the encounter and whether I won or lost. As I mentioned at the start of the video I wanted to highlight the important aspects of the encounter close up with limited spoilers. Other playthroughs released prior to mine already covered the full playthrough at a zoomed out level. Thanks for watching!

      I love the way Defense works to keep you from getting one-shotted based on division not subtraction. With 3 Defense you would have to get hit with 18 damage to go down right away.

      I think it’s very balanced at six HP. With the ability to divide based on defence, plus play an ability card before the attacker role to boost the defence (no animus cost) or use defence tokens...there’s a bunch of ways to prevent damage. Position is also key!

    Not sure about it but I think you were not right according the missed attack of the exile. If you'd have reroled one blank die and got a none blank one then you'd have had 2 blank dice and one of them would have been ignored because of the one crit. That was my understanding of the attack rules.
