if you wanna continue with more billie you guys should do a double feature from her first album: listen before i go, and i love you (for maximum emotional effect) 😙
I feel like the bridge is a panic/anxiety spiral, the what ifs, the worries about what could have happened or panic youre now carrying about it happening again. Then you take a big breath and remind yourself they are alive, they are ok
Notice how the breaths are so prominent throughout the song until the bridge where there isn’t even a pause for breath. You may find yourself holding your breath, even getting a little lightheaded when you listen.
She wrote this about a friend, it did actually happen to her and one month later, also on the 30th of the month, they wrote this song because it was on her mind and she said to Finneas “I need to write a song about this please, I just have to.” It was her way of processing the experience. I agree that I think there’s a theme of survivor’s guilt, what ifs, and I think that as someone who really really loves cars and to drive, she took it very much to heart (“and so am I”). I also don’t think you’re reading too much into it, the calm after the the crescendo very much fits into the point of the story, like a panic building and a sort of exhausted calmness settling in after the realisation of life at the end of that spiral. I think this song is absolutely masterful and very much an overlooked song of hers. The unfolding storytelling is stunning.
She said on a interview that it was a friend that had a accident she didn’t really go much into detail about it. But she said the accident happened on the 30th and then she wrote this the following month on the 30th.
As Kyle said, "As a piece of art, this was great." This was such a good song. Billie Eilish is another artist I never really listened to until I found these reactions, and I'm glad I did. That crescendo toward the end was very reminiscent of "anxiety thoughts" until the "self-reminder" of "you're alive, you're alive, you're alive..." So good.
This one kills me every single time because the exact same thing happened to me (friend got in a car accident, I drove right past the scene and the ambulances), except my friend was in a "what if" scenario. There was no guardrail and it was in the middle of the night. 18 years old, was out of high school for a month, and then she died. I agree with your "piece of art" conclusion because I can't imagine many people could stand to listen to this one over and over; it's too emotional, but I still think everyone should hear it. I've been bingeing your Billie videos tonight and decided the listen was worth it.
The first time I heard this.. It gave me chills and absolutely broke me at the bridge..I’ve been in a car accident or two and the chaotic bridge like a car spinning out of control.. ugh 🥺
nah she cut it together with multiple clips. she says herself that she usually does that to make the song sound perfectly how she wants it. still really impressive singing tho
Please do “Idontwannabeyouanymore” yes it’s all one word. It is so beautiful and will pull out your heart strings if you have ever felt self conscious. It is just beautiful
Yay! I am reposting my insane comment from last time in case it’s helpful to someone! I tried to break it down by different chapters of her career. Mv = I know a music video exists. Pre-EP: Fingers Crossed (Soundcloud, she was 12 and used titles/lines from the Walking Dead) Don’t Smile at Me (EP), Billie is around 13-15 here Done: Bellyache, Ocean Eyes, Hostage Not Done: Copycat (MV)*, Idon’twanttobeyouanymore (MV), My Boy, Watch (MV), Party Favor *Copycat doesn’t have an official music video. However, there’s an incredible acoustic version from the Mahogany Sessions. I’d recommend doing both in a video because they sound like VERY different songs and because hearing Billie and Finneas live is neat. There’s a version of Party Favor from that same session. Other songs from this period of time Done: Lovely Not Done: Six Feet Under, B*tches Broken Hearts, Bad* *Acoustic Michael Jackson cover for ‘Like a Version’ and it’s so good! When We All Fall Asleep Where do We Go (Album 1), Billie is 15-17 here Done: See me in a crown, Good girls go to hell, When the party’s over, Bury a Friend Not Done: Bad Guy (MV), Xanny (MV), Wish you were gay, 8, My strange addiction, Ilomilo, Listen Before I go, I love you Other Songs from this period of time: Done: Everything I wanted Not done: Come out and play, When I was Older, No Time to Die (James Bond, MV),Lo vas a Olvidar (Euphoria, MV), End of the world* *End of the World is an acoustic cover for BBC1 and I love it so much Happier than Ever (Album 2), Billie is 17-19 here Done: NDA, Happier than ever Not Done: Getting older, Didn’t change my number, Billie Bossa Nova, My Future (MV), Oxytocin, Goldwing, Lost Cause (MV), Haileys Comet, Not My Responsibility (MV)/Overheated*, Everybody Dies, Your Power (MV), Therefore I am (MV), Male Fantasy (MV) *Not my Responsibility and Overheated are related and should be done together Guitar Songs (Acoustic EP), Billie is 20 here Done: The 30th Not Done: TV
‘What was I made for’ for the Barbie Movie happens a year later. Hit me Hard and Soft (Album 3), Billie is 20-22 here Done: all of them! You did it!
This was a great break down. I hope the guys see this. I have agree that... The End Of The World- I love it! The Mahogany session- Fantastic! MJ's Bad- Mesmerizing The Live Version of James Bond, No Time to Die- Incredible!
such an emotional song, like putting yourself in her shoes. coincidentally passing by a loved one's accident without knowing, and finding out later. you would feel so awful. i also really like how the song goes from "you were scared and so was i" (she was scared for this person when it happened) to "and so am i" (she's now possibly anxious in general, or at the very least about accidents occurring either to her loved ones or even herself)
One of the most heart wrenching and beautiful songs that her and FINNEAS created. I try to stay away from hearing it cause, knowing that it really happened, breaks my heart and I end up in tears EVERY TIME! Thanks for reacting!! 💙
Always love the vids! Highly suggest reacting to billie eilish’s live version of wildflower (Amazon musics one) the vocals are INSANE and should be shared with everyone!❤
so glad you did this one! when I sit down and really listen to it it always makes me cry. you should do TV next as it was released alongside the 30th. aaaand once again requesting you watch Your Power (with music video) 💙
this song punches me straight in the face every time. my mother was in a horrible car accident about 7 years ago now and she survived but was left with permanent brain damage and bodily changes.
Great reaction. I love this song. And I love your Billie Reactions. But... "It's called a crosswalk..." almost made me fall out of my chair. I'm stealing that one as one of my go-to jokes.
Would love to see you react to some live versions of Billies songs now youre so far in, her stage presents and the staging she comes up with is amazing!
Ya’ll should definitely do TV next! And after that I highly recommend the happier than ever album, it has some really good ones like “Goldwing” or “not my responsibility”
Ive listenes to this a 100 times, but everytime i watch your videos i discover new things about the songs youre reacting to. Keep up the great work guys! I recomend either «oxytocin» or «billie bossa nova» two very diffrent songs. Beautiful pices!
Wow. I'd never heard this one! It is very personal to me. I was in an accident on the 30th of December, 2022. Thankfully I was traveling home during the day instead of at night, and it wasn't actually storming that day. In fact it was uncharacteristically warm for December. I learned to drive in winter conditions, and have been driving them for 40 years with no issues. Having said that, I had just corrected after getting pulled into some melted and sloppy ice, and was fine, when I was suddenly crashing through the four foot bank of snow on The opposite side of the road and downward towards the meadow below. Thankfully my vehicle is heavy or it would have been a far different result. I stopped several feet down, sideways, just short of the telephone pole and fence surrounding the meadow, through the driver's window was snow, through the passenger window was the been and sky. My seatbelt was locked tight. I had my phone in my pocket and took it out to call for assistance. I posted a funny about my predicament, not realizing it was about to become a bit more serious. I got a couple calls out without reaching anyone. Called my Mom, and my phone died. The car had died shortly after coming to a rest, with the window down. It was warm, remember? After about two hours the sun dropped behind the trees and it got cold. I cut my seatbelt so I could reach my emergency bag in the back for a blanket, water, etc. I guess I should explain I couldn't just climb out because I'm partially paralyzed and need a cane to compensate for one side of my body. Finally a highway patrol stopped to check on me! He said he almost didn't realize I was down there, but decided to stop and check the break in the berm! I told him I'd called my mom so we could get a tow truck, but she should have been here long ago! He looked up at the road and shouted that it was me.... My mom has been driving back and forth but not seeing my vehicle... Anyway, six hours later the truck showed up and pulled me out! I was tired. I was cold. And I was sore. But alive. I've often wondered what if.... At night, not able to call, not able to reach my emergency bag..... Thankfully, I'll never know.
Thanks for the reaction guys, this is a very emotional song for me. I would love for you to react to more of Billie's songs like: listen before I go, TV and I love you, I think you'll really like it.🤗♥️
If you guys are hoping to continue with more Billie, I highly recommend watching some high quality live performances, her and Finneas are both incredible live.
Tbh you all need to listen to billie more she is so god damn talented songs like tv, male fantasy, getting older then more youre vibe songs like xanny or maybe ilomilo We Love Billie and me and a lot othersLobe watching y’all react to her
I love and hate that the bridge is the best audio panic attack I've ever experienced. Beautiful, but if I knew anyone who listened to it on repeat, I'd be a little worried about them.
i love your reactions so much!! some amazing songs by billie to react to: my future, your power, chihiro, idontwannabeyouanymore, tv, male fantasy, i love you, listen before i go, wish you were gay, and copycat
I agree with not listening to it repeatedly. I love this song. It's emotional, it's really beautiful, but it's way too sad for me to want to listen to it more.

Yup. This is the clearest panic attack I've ever heard set to music.
Right. Like a stream of consciousness.
Notice how the breaths are so prominent throughout the song until the bridge where there isn’t even a pause for breath. You may find yourself holding your breath, even getting a little lightheaded when you listen.

Thank you so much but that’s sad😞
The bridge sounds exactly like a panic attack you'd have thinking of the "What if's" ..
Right. Like a stream of consciousness.
100%
She said on a interview that it was a friend that had a accident she didn’t really go much into detail about it. But she said the accident happened on the 30th and then she wrote this the following month on the 30th.
The accident was November 30th, 2021, iirc
TV next omg

I’m so sorry for your loss 🫂
The first time I heard this.. It gave me chills and absolutely broke me at the bridge..I’ve been in a car accident or two and the chaotic bridge like a car spinning out of control.. ugh 🥺
One of my favourite Billie songs, absolutely beautiful
YESS!! new reaction to billie! i was just about to see what's new and now i will enjoy the video :)
So pleasantly shocked you guys checked this song out! Highly slept on
Y’all should listen to No time to Die from Billie because 😫 her vocal the lyrics are just so perfect
Its so unbelieveble to me she sang the Bridge in one breath
nah she cut it together with multiple clips. she says herself that she usually does that to make the song sound perfectly how she wants it. still really impressive singing tho
@@obeseparrot4266 She probably does this in her Songs but i know she did it in one breath also Not Sure where i saw It tho
Love you guys, found you through Billie. Your reaction to Chihiro made me cry because it was so relatable. Her music has saved me in so many ways.
i love that song so much, i get in the last part goosebumps EVERY time🫠
the 'and remember' killed me dead LMAO
I love your Billie reactions!! You guys are some of the funnest reactors I've found, and the way you analyze the songs is really appreciated.
The ending here was my favorite 😂 Kyle dying of laughter and Eric yelling 😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
Please do “Idontwannabeyouanymore” yes it’s all one word. It is so beautiful and will pull out your heart strings if you have ever felt self conscious. It is just beautiful

The Live Version of James Bond, No Time to Die- Incredible!
the rambling on of the lyrics while the music builds and builds in the bridge is probably in my top 3 for things Bille's made. it gets me
The bridge is supposed to represent a panic attack, asking a bunch of questions in rapid session 💔
Thank you for another Billie upload! Def check out TV as well
The way I stopped whatever I was doing just to watch this, The 30th is one of her greatest songs ever
You should react to lost cause and billie bossa nova their are one of my favorites in her last album ❤
