      Nah, puberty didn't hit them with a truck, it mugged them in a dark alley then dragged them over to it's Yakuza friends who they owed a debt so they could all drop them off a building to smack into the concrete below.

    The first guy's art is like meeting that level999 boss and thinking "I can do it, I can work hard and eventually surpass him!"
    Then the second artist shows up as the level9999 boss and you realise you've barely begun your journey.
    It's both scary and exciting that the skill levels are so far apart between these two, and yet both are way better than me. Art, it takes a lot of grinding for levels. But reaching those points where you can see how far you've come, it always makes it worth the journey. And every milestone counts, each one deserves celebration. From hitting level 10, to 100, to 1000. A long journey is not a reason to give up. A long journey is a reason to be excited. I hate endings, so perhaps I am biased. To know that I will, so long as I put in the effort always improve, makes me know that every drawing I do was worth it. Even the failed drawings were worth it. Where I am now (Level 207 probably) is a place I feel proud of. It's such a low number really, but so much higher than it was 2 years ago. Back when I was only able to do stickmen. I know I can only get better from here, and that's just what I'll do.
    Giving up is the only way to stop yourself from becoming a pro. Giving up is the only way to fail.

It's exciting.

      I'd say I am around level 3/1000. I honestly don't understand how to practise since my drawings look like Kindergarden drawings and I am not sure if drawing completely wrong will make me any better.

    • @gunby9322
      @gunby9322 4 роки тому +1

      GermanSniper Are you still drawing? If so, then there are different ways to practice without being able to draw well yourself. Tracing drawings is actually a good idea as you can get a feel for why some things were made in a some ways, while also being more confident in your lines to make the work cleaner.
      There’s also the ‘DrawABox’ course online. It’s free, and takes you through the basics of traditional (realistic) drawing. The first few lessons are invaluable to any type of drawing style, so try to go through those when you get the time.
      However, DrawABox has no humans in the drawing exercises, but rather mecha and vehicles. Thus, try to trace gestures and skulls in your desired style (realistic, manga, etc..) and keep practicing!
      Drawing will take a lot of time and dedication, and will be frustrating at the start. But you can eventually improve the drawings at a steady and consistent pace.
      Remember, drawing’s main purpose is to de-stress you, not pile on more. If you need to take a break or just don’t want to draw for a while, then stop until you’re ready to draw again.

      Imagine iron man shooting a laser from his hand. A circle would be where the laser originated, in this case the palm. Then draw a center line along the direction in which the laser is going. Now depending on what type of laser, the beam width will be different. Usually I like a laser that grow gradually in size, with the thinnest at the origin. The steeper the line the more powerful the blast will feel. Back to the origin of the laser. If your laser is smooth and streamline and direct (like silver surfer) you’ll connect the circle to the width of the beam using a curve and connects the two and streamlines them. If your laser is explosive from let’s say a laser machine gun, you’ll have have to draw lines or triangular shapes that stem out from the origin, you can now erase the circle and the center line. Usually I leave a hint of the circle left to suggest the source. And from there you simple add the necessary effects, for example for explosive lasers, I like to put outward shooting speckles around the source to give it more character, really darken the source object, cuz the laser is so bright, everything behind it will look much darker in comparison. If the laser is second light source, remember to take that into consideration when shading the rest of your character/thing.

    That's not a sample of real cyberpunk but still for artists who don't actually know the specifications of this genre well it seems to be quite good. I can even admit that the amateur's work was a bit closer to the standards of cyberpunk at least due to the circumstances of the appearance of this genre. It was created at the beginning of previous century - there weren't any ideas of computer's concept! But still it works fantastic, wow ✨

    I love these videos. It's inspiring to see someone learn from the pros even when they're good at drawing already. I feel like i'm in this journey with you as we both learn to draw even better than before through the drawings and pointers that the pros give.

      Being an artist and having artist colleagues (since I’m from an arts school), we actually aren’t very fond of those comments. We know they mean well and people are just trying to compliment the work, but it’s awkward and it kind of makes artists feel guilty. Instead of saying “Man, I give up, I’ll never be that good” try “I’ll practice more.” You don’t have to take my advice though, that’s just my two cents.

      He did extremely bad, i think. I'm an amateur and an amateur is actually almost at the same level as professional. Only difference is amateurs don't get payed and professionals are naturally a tad bit better since they invest in art as work. He's at beginner level, in conclusion. Nonetheless, yes he does have potential.
