For the best hotels in Bangkok, the Mandarin Oriental has been replaced by the Capella Bangkok, which is the best hotel in Bangkok.
Any hotel that the entrance is a shopping mall... no thanks.
If you want a central Bangkok hotel with a pool... stay at the Waldorf-Astoria. It is half hotel room and half residential condos.
I have stayed in all of these. Plus the Four Seasons.
I do not like Park Hyatt's because the high-end ones are filled with people using points to stay in them
