Definitely go for the standard suspension over the overly harsh msport suspension. It rides beautifully even on 19 inch wheels, and handles like a scalple on the raod. Love my 230i non msport.
At last a proper BMW. The M240i is the one I would stump up the money for. it has an inline 6 which is BMW all over. Nothing beats an inline 6 for pure driving pleasure.
Hey Matt, sorry to comment off topic but as customer deliveries of the straight petrol Tank 300 have started is there any chance of getting a review. There’s been nothing I can find since you did the launch video of the hybrid off road in January.
Hey Harry, no stress mate. There are press vehicle loans of the petrol model happening as we speak. I'm driving it next week, but the review will be embargoed until later in July. Stay tuned!!
Typical BMW everything is an extra cost option. Matt, I've noticed you never say whether the engine stop start can be turned off, this would stop me buying anything that this can't be done on.😊
Thanks for the feedback. My commuting doesn’t typically include lots of start-stop stuff and even when it does, I usually leave it on unless it’s hot because I hate the AC cutting out!!
I’ve just picked up my M240 which retails @ $106k. Believe it or not you guys are paying $12k more over there for less spec car. I’m in UK btw. Nice review 👍
Great review! I own one (2023 230i with updated dashboard) and love the way it dandles the corners. The suspension is firm but it's much more comfortable than my 2014 Subaru Forester XT. What I like the most in my 230i is the ZF gear box: I feel like it can read my mind!!
Prices may have changed since I filmed this. And the price you see on my video states MSRP (or before on-road costs) where you might see pricing including on-roads / drive-away.
Hahaha - I mean, context is important. I’ve had a few people say to me that “$100,000 is about what new cars cost these days!” I wish I had their pay packets.
@@therightcar Damn but thats still a hefty price tag imho. Its like 40k in europe with all of the taxes included. I know, aus$ and stuff - but still quite expensive.
I think you could comment on a few things that I didn't see commented on... 1) it's ridiculously heavy despite it's small size! Now 1600kg! 200kg more than the previous model and just under the previous mustang weight! Small sure but she's getting heavy... 2) no manuals except the m2 now.... Although the auto gearbox is said to be a cracker....comments? 3) good lord it's as ugly as sin compared to the previous model 4) see point 3. Cannot be emphasized enough! 5) made in Mexico now.... Not Germany! 6) two omissions as competitors! The new 86/brz and of course the previous f22 model!
Yeah I'll concede the looks are polarizing and may find some fans, the rear arch to rear corner is great and profile is fine and some elements are ok by themselves but it does look to me to not be a coherent design... And overall it's just not good.... But I suppose the m3/m4 front is growing on me... But the BRZ not in the same sort of car? The mx5 has less in common surely..... Only two seats and no roof? Ok turbo and rwd sure but IDK....you're the expert! ❤️
@@applesauceawesome i think, if you compare them with the 220/230i of course the brz would slide right into it. But the 40i for example is just a whole different car. The gearbox is phenomal - its the same zf gearbox as in the g20 and its performance is overwhelming. Dont know where the bad comments are coming from. It can be extremly smooth on the one hand and can be a beast on the other.
@@Errost5 fair. I would consider the rwd 1 series to be a perfect comparison to the BRZ/86 but with FWD 1 series...much less so but I guess the cheaper 2 series is a fair comparison. I suspect the zf criticism is from lower spec cars with different gearbox tunes. I can't stand automatics myself... But found the ZF far less frustrating than most.....

Just bought the 230i m sport x drive and absolutely love it. Go kart feel and practical. Great review
Love this! Thanks.
your review is very great. you did amazing work. very helpful videos
Thank you.

I kind of missed these kidney grills’ size, this is one the most good looking BMWs in production.
Agree.
Gotta give you props Matt for rocking shorts in winter
Thanks. I'm a tough Mountains Man. And this was filmed two months ago :D
Matt could you review the 2023 Honda Civic Hybrid please? Also the new ZRV Hybrid as well would be awesome!
Loving your content so far!!
Hi Cath,
I’ve got a ZR-V review coming next month. Civic hybrid might be a while. I had to cancel it because I have been so busy!

@@therightcar 😂 I’ll be driving mine by then - a bit late to find out if it’s the right car or not when it’s sitting in the drive. 🤣
Bmw never fails to disappoint

@therightcar
I have it in my car and turn it off every time I start up. If I were to buy another vehicle, I would want the ability to turn it off.
Nice video 😊
Nice work ❤

Amazing work they did ❤
Nice review
Great work
Hard work ❤
So expensive but just checked it is in line with inflation from 2014 when the 2 series launched.
Portimao blue?

Good stuff mate. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Great alternative to GR86/BRZ/Nissan Z 😍
I mean I could have listed any of those but they aren’t… luxury.
BMW loving ❤️ brands
Wow Blue Color Looks Amazing 🤩
Excellent good BMW car❤❤
Super cool
Car sales is saying the 220i is 78 K not 68K?.......

What country is that? US prices are 38-50’s k
Hot colour and fiture
Good car
Fabulous
Buteful car
Never has ' under 100k ' sounded so cheap, Matt should be a salesman ?😅

Good
Since BMW share platforms & drivetrains, NONE are lightweight & Civics weigh over 3,000 lbs. these days.
👏
Thats a 2022 model
Wow

Great points. But I disagree that it’s ugly. It may not be as stunning as 2 Coupes of years gone by but it’s got the muscle look going on.
And I didn’t mention the 86 / BRZ on purpose. They’re just not the same type of car in my opinion.
