You don't even need to bend when you're using the shoulder roll. Your opponent is going to miss even if you don't bend from side to side. The only thing he's going to hit is your shoulder.
Your opponent isn't going to attack you in 1 line like a robot. A smart one will work angles and try to cut off the ring hence you have to thinking ahead and varying accordingly, working in feints. *smh*
