I think if Ted didn't like the contestants he would work the cryptic clues to either be the car, a canteen of cutlery or an oriental carpet.
"The first three letters of Carnen is car but she has a pet goldfish at home, carpet you might say, but the goldfish was sick so she drove it to the vet in her car but it died so she had it at home with chips, you won a deep fat fryer!"
