    Nice and very informative video. Sleep apnea can be serious as it may impact our overall health and can increase the risk of heart disease due to reduced oxygen supply.
    Snoring can be the main symptom of any sleep apnea. Snoring once in a while is alright, but if you are snoring for a quite long period and if your snoring is affecting your day-time activities and your quality of life, then it is always good to talk to a specialist.

    I have been diagnosed with severe CSA but never knew it to be what I hope is the main cause of my daily struggles over the last several years. At random times of the day, I lose all ability to read or understand spoken language. I personally never linked that problem to a sleep issue but I hope the treatment will reverse it. I am supposed to start treatment here soon so I hope this is going to fix this issue within the next few weeks after I get my ASV.

    Fascinating the way people throw out oh just stop smoking just stop drinking as if for some people that is not a) a hugs struggle and challenge in itself 2) for many people a significant decline in quality of life 3) ignores the substittues which may weigh in if one health compromising habit is abandoned. People ignroe the obvious increase in sugar consumption which usually follows the abandonment of smoking and is one significant factor in the rise of obesity-people not smoking any more!

    • @MedicalCentric
      @MedicalCentric  7 днів тому

      @MrYorickJenkins You’re absolutely right. Overcoming smoking or drinking is a significant challenge and can impact quality of life. Simply stopping isn't always straightforward, and many people experience changes in their habits, such as increased sugar consumption, which can affect health in other ways. It’s important to approach these changes with a balanced perspective, considering both the immediate struggles and long-term health impacts. Support and a holistic strategy can make a big difference in managing such transitions.

    Im starting to think all my mental fog, lost memories, mood swings are due to this. Im 37 just relazing this may be my problem and it could all change by getting better sleep. I rarely get a full nights worth of rest even if I "slept" 8 hours. All of these symptoms of sleep deprivation culimnated over the years is probably what has made me the person I am today. Iamgine actually getting proper sleep. Id prolly wouldnt even recognize the new better version of me. I NEED to fix this asap.

      @MedicalCentric  20 днів тому

      @akiman712 It sounds like you've had a powerful realization, and you're absolutely right-sleep is incredibly important for mental and physical health. Chronic sleep deprivation can have a significant impact on memory, mood, and cognitive function, and it’s common for these effects to build up over time, often without us fully realizing it.
      Prioritizing sleep could indeed make a big difference in how you feel day-to-day. Improving sleep hygiene-like maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, creating a relaxing bedtime routine, limiting screen time before bed, and making your sleep environment as comfortable as possible-can help you get the restful sleep you need. If you still struggle despite these efforts, it might be worth consulting with a healthcare provider or a sleep specialist to explore any underlying issues, such as sleep apnea or insomnia, that could be affecting your sleep quality.
      You're on the right track by recognizing the importance of sleep, and taking steps to improve it could lead to a significant positive change in your life. Here's to a healthier, more rested version of you!

    So idk if it’s sleep apnea but there’s been a couple of times where i suddenly wake up taking big gasps for air and heart rate is all the way up, it last for about 4-5 seconds and it’s a horrible feeling, sometimes I feel like I’m about to die while taking gasps, and the noise while taking the gasps is so unsettling that I have to mask it with the pillow on my face because I don’t want to startle my family.

    It’s been scary af the past year or so. I not sure what’s going on. I went to a doctor a year ago and they suggested a sleep study but it’s $2k so I continued on. I use an inhaler but it doesn’t seem to relate to that. I do chew nicotine gum a good bit so that could relate to it as well. I wake up in the middle of the night gasping for breath, heart pounding, and sometimes it’s just a quick jolt and I’m fine, other times it feels like I’m about to die and it scares the hell out of me. It has affected my sleep a little a because I will be awaken and wait 30mins or more to go back to bed because how disruptive/disturbing it can be and that seems to make me feel less rested when I wake up. I know stress and anxiety has to relate to it

    Idk if it’s panic attacks or what. But ever sense I was little, I’d sometimes have a hard time sleeping at night because I feel like i can’t breath. I’d be trembling and crying so much. Sometimes I’d stop breathing in my sleep or my nose is clogged up and I’d wake up gasping for air. I’ve learned to cope with it over the years and I usually just stay awake until I feel relaxed and then go back to sleep like it never happened, it’s really tiring though and I don’t know what it is
    I’m writing this right now because I was sleeping normally and I felt pretty relaxed, I wasn’t fully asleep but even if I was was my body would wake me up because I stop breathing out of nowhere, and I always feel a bunch of chest pain.
    I get so afraid that I’m gonna die from lack of oxygen, or that I’m gonna die because I stop breathing and my organs might shut down. I think I’m just more paranoid, idk what’s wrong with me

I catch myself not getting proper air in the night and usually just breath really heavily a few times and it's like it catches back up, but that only happens from time to time. I’ve also been waking up with headaches, sore throat, been sluggish and tired no matter how much I sleep. And some nights I wake up gasping for air completely alert and my heart pounding out of my chest. Should I get checked out or am I overreacting?

    • @MedicalCentric
      @MedicalCentric  10 місяців тому

      It's essential to take those symptoms seriously, as they could be indicative of sleep apnea. Gasping for air, morning headaches, sore throat, and persistent fatigue are common signs of sleep apnea. The episodes where you wake up gasping for air and with a racing heart are particularly concerning. It's not an overreaction to seek medical advice in this situation. I recommend consulting with a healthcare professional or a sleep specialist who can evaluate your symptoms and recommend appropriate testing or treatment to ensure your well-being and quality of sleep. Sleep apnea can have significant health consequences if left untreated, so it's crucial to address these concerns.

    • @MedicalCentric
      @MedicalCentric  17 днів тому

      @dantandem It's possible that a severe fall leading to spinal injury or arthritic changes could contribute to sleep apnea, especially if there are lesions or issues affecting the nerves or muscles involved in breathing. While sleep apnea is more commonly associated with factors like obesity, airway obstruction, or neurological conditions, spinal issues could potentially play a role. It’s important to consult with both a sleep specialist and a spine expert to explore this connection further and determine the best course of treatment for your sleep apnea.

    QUESTION.. WITH SLEEP APNEA DUD YOU HAVE MODERATE AND HIGHER PAIN IN MUSCLES AND JOINTS... THAT WENT AWAY OR REDUCED AFTER SURGERY OR CPAP SUCCESS?

    • @MedicalCentric
      @MedicalCentric  9 місяців тому

      Sleep apnea, characterized by breathing interruptions during sleep, can indirectly contribute to muscle and joint pain through symptoms like fatigue, often leading to a sedentary lifestyle. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy, the standard treatment, has been linked to improved overall well-being and reduced fatigue. Addressing sleep apnea with CPAP may, for some individuals, result in better sleep quality and potentially alleviate associated musculoskeletal discomfort. However, the impact on muscle and joint pain varies among individuals, and not everyone may experience direct relief. Surgical interventions are considered when CPAP is ineffective, but their influence on musculoskeletal symptoms is variable. Individual responses are influenced by diverse factors, emphasizing the importance of consulting healthcare professionals for personalized advice and management.

    Does anyone have the problem that the CPAP and/or mouth appliances have reduced their sleep stoppages to almost nothing, but they are still waking up with their head filled with sand/snow/cotton? If this simply because it takes a while for the brain to adjust to the machine so you wake up with a clear head? Because the machine has its own side effects? Or because of an undiagnosed brain condition in addition to the sleep apnea?
