5:02 It's made clear in game that Nocturnal's curse was removed. It's why the former Grey Fox's wife remembered him. Even while he was still wearing the cowl. It's also why the guild suddenly had a guildhall. When before it didn't have one. The curse was removed in such a way as to make it seem like the curse had never existed.
The fact that Sheogorath remembers being the Champion of Cyrodil makes me think once an era he rreturns to his mortal self instead of becoming Jyggolag
I like to imagine that during the battle of the Imperial City, several people witnessed a Khajiit in elven armor flying through the sky and chugging a bottle of skooma every second, and everyone just agreed not to mention it.

And the severed head has to be Matthieu Bellamont's mother's head. So it's definitely got to be canon that the Hero of Kvatch was both the Grey Fox and the Listener. That can't be good for the mind. I would love more Dagoth lore breakdowns or history lessons such as the Red Diamond War. Until then I shall honor the sixth house and the tribe unmourned
I think Skyrim Sheo’s reference to “Blood” may refer to the slaughter at the Anvil Chapel If you enter the chapel, the place is a mess. With words written in blood on the ground as well Edit: Grammar/Spelling
Well, the Nerevarine and Dragonborn were two heroes of prophecy, while the hero of Kvatch was just a dude who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time
The dragonborn also keeps doing the same damn quest a million times. "Go to x ruin. Get me thing. Kill draugr and spider" they also got the soul and will of a dragon which makes them on a different level of mentality. He also gets a shit ton of emotional support from the bros in sovengard. He goes on a quest of enlightenment during the dawnguard dlc getting the bow of auriel which kinda negates the damage of seeing the soul cairn. The only part of his journey you can really call maddening is going into apocrypha several times but Miraak your literal senpai has been there for thousands of years and he's still relatively sane compared to the hero of kvatch. Tbh I think it's a poor comparison between the dragonborn and new sheogorath. The dragonborn had many saner quests and he is on a different spiritual power level than the hero.
I want to hear Dagoth's take on Potema aka The Wolf Queen. . .cause dang, I don't think old or new Sheogorath wants anything to do with that kind of crazy.
I know this is likely a joke just that's exactly the instability he loves, madness is all encompassing something as simple as a routine or is out there as wandering around. Looking for a specific sliver of bone on a battlefield. There's madness in all forms and shagorath is behind them all
Not to mention, in KOTN you technically die... Only to be brought back, by what I'm gonna call Aedric magic. A mortal who knew they died... Only to wake up, like it was a dream. Probably messed with their head has well. XD So yeah, I fully support this Oblivion is actually a descent into madness story. Theory.
Even before that. When the Hero of Kvatch goes to Choroll and cures Kellen from he's disease. Only to take he's disease for himself and having it untill being cured by the prophet. Imagine wanting to run, fight or do anything in your but feeling like someone is stabbing you in the lungs. That had to have big impact on the Hero of Kvatch and then he DIES during that fight with Umaril

My protagonist is also on an emotional rollercoaster which the Shivering Isles bring to the surface. He's driven down a dark path because he feels useless in peace time. During the Crisis, some Daedric Princes have already started to corrupt him. He joins the Fighter's Guild where he is drugged into slaughtering a village of innocents & even friends by the Blackwood Company. Guilt-ridden, he joins the Arena where at the end he has to kill another friend who won't even fight back. Around that time he also contracts vampirism and his sense of morality is further numbed. It is then, after slaying the Grey Prince, that Lucien Lachance approaches him. He becomes a hired killer and fulfills the more murderous Daedric quests. After that debacle, it is the Thieves Guild that makes him swear off killing. He seeks redemption and cures his vampirism. Raminus Polus then invites him into the Mages Guild and he gets to save Tamriel once again. He's in a good place to become a Knight again but all this trauma resurfaces in the realm of madness.
