Thanks for your vid👍🏼 I'm assuming you did not have to replace the rotors on this job? I have 175k on my 2017 Jetta and it'll be the first brake job done. My commute about 55 miles each way but pretty much all freeway. I'm impressed that it made it this long👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for watching and commenting. No, luckily this was a low mileage car. Rotors were nowhere near needing to be replaced. You are well beyond needing to replace yours, if they have never been replaced.
Thank you! I did this for my 2017 jetta rear wheels and the new ones are working great, but I lost my hand brakes. It doesn't work anymore, goes way up and has 10% power (very slight braking). Any idea what the reason could be? It worked perfectly before I changed the pads.
No problem. Thanks for watching and commenting. Check out this video. I am pretty sure it's on track with the issue you are having. ua-cam.com/video/22bgCxmCuuc/v-deo.html
These specific brake pads have a damper installed on the back of the pad that serves same purpose. It would have been redundant to put brake grease on the back of the pads.
@@RoCDIY I did not know that,I will be doing the brakes on my gli tomorrow and will definitely check my new pads to see if they have that. Thanks for replying back and enlightening me it's greatly appreciated!!
@@hirangarcia4656 Glad to help out. Thanks for watching and asking a question. Good luck with the project. I didn't buy them because it was what I wanted. It was all they had at the time, so I got stuck buying the higher-end ones.
Can you push the piston by placing the brake pad on top of it and then using a pry bar or clamp? Thats how Ive done it on old v8 cars. But they usually have 2 pistons. Do you have a link for that tool? Thanks!
@@israelvargas6450 I didn't buy OEM. I bought different brands at different stores (AutoZone, Advance Auto) because they didn't have both front and rear at the same store. These are the ones I purchased... CarQuest Premium Gold- Front GNAD1107 and Duralast Gold- Rear DG340.
Thanks for the calming and methodical explanation. Appreciate it.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Thank you for the kind words. Better than being told my voice is too serious or monotone. 👍
Great video sir! Just finished mine on my Jetta and you saved me $400!
That's what I am taking about. Glad to hear it saved you some money.
Thank you Sir, The presentation is excellent. Best Regards.
Thanks and thanks again for watching.
Thanks Bro..I couldn't figure out the caliper. This video saved me
Glad I could help

Wow, I got mine with 26k miles on it 2 years ago. Now it has 46k. Most driving I do is doordash and just driving to work every day

So out of curiosity, any reason for not greasing the pads? I was always told you are suppose to but did not see you use any.

It would have been nice if you could, but these aren't designed that way. Link- www.amazon.com/Craftsman-Brake-Caliper-Piece-CMMT98365/dp/B0C67NHLV1
@@RoCDIY have you done the front ones? Is it the same?
@@alvaro93364 Here's the link for the front. ua-cam.com/video/5TU0XJaLNTQ/v-deo.html. They are not the same.
Good video but you should also clean and grease the contact areas with suitable grease....
Thx
Are the brake pads for the front going to be the same for the rear?
Front and rear brakes are different sizes and part #.
@@RoCDIY do you have the part numbers for front and back? I have the same vehicle/year

It’s definitely a 13mm I’m doing one right now
What kit is that??
Duralast Gold Semi-metallic DG340
Did you have to put it in maintenence mode?
This model doesn't have an electronic parking brake (EPB). It's manual, so there is no maintenance mode specific to the brakes.
@@RoCDIY thank you
@@phillrayman4461 No problem.
Thanks a lot
