Ugh! Don't give people hope on this. Emotional affairs are THE WORST. Run for the hills if you enounter someone doing this because they are probably shady AF!!!
It can't be healed if it is repeated over the time ..it is my fault to keep trusting him again and again .i should have left him the very first time i saw him having emotional affairs.
Your partner does not know you talk You hide your meetings You see them without your spouse They are not a friend of your marriage There is secrecy There is sexual attraction Boundaries are crossed You had to lie to keep going Causes distress in spouse and feels disrespectful
Unless y you in fall in love with that other person it is not an emotional affair. In my eyes . I remember years ago when I had marriage problems I used to talk to a co- worker because he was very understanding .I would be very upset if a councillor accused me of having an emotional affair. The psychological world has gone overboard.
I guess it depends on people/culture. I also have very close opposite gender friend, we have known each other for years so we developed good emotional intimacy.. Formally we absolutely could be accused of having an emotional affair, but we always had very clear boundaries and our relation has always been platonic, so I absolutely don't think that it's an emotional affair
