It really bothers me that Gibson doesn’t do more with there amazing bass models of the past. This Epiphone sounds and looks great! Hope they do more… even if it is on the Epiphone end of things. Not that epiphone is bad, just wish they would release the Gibson counterpart along with it. I had a 78’ ripper bass many moons ago and god damn I miss that bass… with distortion it’s beautiful
@@Isaacsasmrchannel only reason that it wasn't done in the Gibson factory was because Gibson don't have the bolt on neck machinery anymore, but I can assure you this model is flawless and better QC than the original
@pandyinfrance3065 I adjusted the action that way, it's an easy fix if it's not your cup of tea but I love low action, it's something you won't hear live
Trust me, it does. Sliding pickup makes a huge difference when recording. I’m a proud owner of a 1978 Grabber and will also get this Epiphone when I a find a used one in the future …
Congrats on your Epiphone Grabber purchase!!! Couple of points from my point of view. Agreed on the 1970s Gibson Grabbers fit & finish - the ones I've seen haven't been that great, not worth the "vintage" asking prices imo. To give a current example, I recently picked up a Mexico Fender 70s Telecaster Bass, and the fit and finish on that one is as good as any of my vintage USA, Japan, and Custom Shop Fenders. All that to say, your Chines Grabber's fit & finish looks superb! Other point that I mentioned on your faceCrook post is I'd love to try the new Epi Grabber in a blues environment. So when I do get one, I'll throw on a set of flatwounds, and see where that takes me! Again thanks for demo'ing the new Epi Grabber, sounds fantastic!!!
Can we see how the bridge looks like? When I get mine I will remove that cover the first thing : ) BTW how was the setup out of the box? Did you have to set up anything? Thx!
@ChrisJohnsonChannel I've a few gibson basses, I always use a sweed leather strap so no neck dive, but I'm pretty sure a seat belt strap would have neck dive for sure
@@michaelblaney4461 I get the feeling that they listened to most of the complaints from the original grabber models, that the sliding pickup gimmick wasn't actually that practical, and didn't have really any effect on the tone. Alot of people tape them down, for example thrices bass player. This mm pickup with the coil split is way more practical and hitting the switch does make a big difference tonally.

One thing that would make the bass even better is a series/parallel/split for the pickup.
Nice bass, thanks for video.
Almighty load of fret buzz tho.

Very NICE bass, congratulations I think you definitely found a keeper.

Nice bass! Just ordered one in black! Love its growl and agreed on the slide thingy not making much a difference on the original.
Oh I was really tempted by the black one, nearly pulled the trigger

@@pattonPwr only adjustment I made was a slight tweak to the trussrod, other than that flawless
Hey man is there much neck dive or is it pretty balanced? I had an SG and the the neck goes straight to the floor. And how much does it weigh?

Does the base have neck dive?

Lotta Fret buzz
@@evansteinbach9890 that's my tweak to the trussrod, I have very low action on all my basses.
How much would you rate this bass? And would you recommend a beginner buying one.
@@evansteinbach9890 oh it's a 9 out of 10, and yeah I guess a beginner could buy it if they have the money
The price is ripped off
It's high for an epiphone, but considering how good the finish, sound, and quality is compared to other epiphone basses it's well worth it
Not happy with the pickup
@@michaelblaney4461 oh you have one?

@@The_bass_place Yeah , I was just hoping for the exact model , There is going to be a Mike Dirnt G3 I guess.
