@@sp3v0nhotrocks93 i'm not defending the game, but the German does have lots of Russian weaponry from light to heavy calibers that staged throughout the Cotentine peninsula back there. Not to mention freiwilligen and other second/third class unit from Eastern that carries vary of weapons on their hand stationed in the Normandy coastline. So, those Russian PPS/h sub-machine guns were there and kicking in the action, it just not that many like service MPi.40 but they're there, including rechambered version of 9x19mm Para or 7.63mm Mauser.
Private Kelly whispering "The Lord is my Shepherd" while desperately paddling his raft through a barrage of artillery has stuck with me after all these years. It's seared into my brain.
I love how explosions looked in old games...almost more realistic honestly like fuzzy and shaky and the sound was honestly pretty groundbreaking for such an old game
This mission was a bitch, one of the longest levels in the game. I remember 9 year old me not completing the game because of this mission but years later I would.
This is why I love ww2 till this day. This instilled such a love of history in me, unlike nowadays with battlefield and Cod. How they twist history to fit some kind of agenda.
Agenda? You mean inserting female characters to multiplayer? Multiplayer battles are largely ahistorical in the first place, you either spawn and then run around competing for kills or points in a recreated map based on real places but fictional. So it’s not like they’re twisting anything there so your point is kind of moot. But still yeah, the modern titles are kind of cringe in the way they implement it because they need to appeal to younger generation and a more casual playerbase, but that’s another issue because they’re just greedy
Man, imagine if Activision decides to remaster/remake all the Classic WWII titles into one giant package. Just imagine; Call of Duty- including United Offensive Call of Duty: Finest Hour Call of Duty: Big Red One Call of Duty 2 Call of Duty 3 All rolled into one Remake package, the ultimate WWII single player experience with current Gen graphics... That’s a BIG dream...
this mission is so distinct, i remember playing it as a kid on the xbox original, this game had a very good atmosphere and ambients, and they did a great job with the audio, i remember feeling cold n wet and explored the mission in detail, the whole game, and just killing time.
This mission had to be the toughest one in the game. I remember dieing in the graveyard multiple times. And the sound of the “screaming memis’s” is horrifying.
I remembered when I played this as a child I kept "the lord is my shepherd" quietly to my self for almost the whole mission until the end when I completed it lol
For a while I had all these vivid memories of like really cool looking missions but as I bought cod 2 and world at war for the Xbox, I looked up all the PS2 versions of games cuz I played all those when I was a kid, and I found United assault or whatever it’s called and the PS2 version of world at war but still didn’t find it this... until a few days ago and it’s been nothing but nostalgia trips since, thank you
This mission had all the glooms they could throw. It was after Sgt Hawks' left, no Brooklyn for comic relief. then, it is a night mission, in graveyard (hell the name itself is cruxific hill, some dark ritual shiet), with the intro of almost subjected into death. What a great game.
Zasa Channel LOL 😂 it was the nickname given by Allied Troops for the German Rocket Artillery. Called Nebelwerfers because they sound like Screams when they fire.
Oh god this mission was a pain in the ass to beat, especially the graveyard and the trench hill part. I’ve been getting my ass handed cause there’s barely any health around, but thank god I made through this mission.
That Hurtgen forest campaign....funny enough you also fight through that in the American campaign in COD 2 only difference is you're a Ranger in that story
Just imagine the ptsd the main character got by Kelly's callouts and yelling Also @14:08 that solider seen his friend die ran away like he forget where he was
I waste my time playing this for 3 hours unfinished just for my mom to tell me go outside. Our teamates AI is so dumb. I later have to restart. I was at the last part where i just destroyed the second artillery rocket
found a glitch when i was little. Apparently if you walk a certain distance, the first tank won't explode or some shit. I thought it was cool. could never repeat it
It's quite strange how only you, Smitty, and Kelly are present for this. Where's Brooklyn and Delaney? I looked into the actual battle that inspired this mission, and the First Infantry Division sent the 18th Infantry Regiment. Not the 16th, which you and your squad are a part of. So it would seem three of you got transferred for just this one mission. Did you get on the wrong truck or something?
Always found it confusing when you hovered over Kellys character it said he was a sergeant. But then the Lt. at the end of the mission calls him Corporal. Always wondered what he actually was😂
For sure. Confusingly enough, this game came out in 2004 and COD 2 came out in 2005 I believe. COD Finest Hour from 2004 will always be my favorite though.
if this got a remake with better graphics, improved enemy and allied A.I. as well as more missions and mechanics, it could be best COD to ever exist
But, i think COD WW2 still the best, tough
It already *is* the best cod, story wise at least.
@@danny7921 COD WW2 was horrible 😂😂 you big trippin dawg😂😂

That was Smith saying that, not Kelly.
and Kelly was a sergeant in this mission not private
A Bridge to Far
This was probably the toughest mission in this game
Mainly because there wasn't anyone around to tell you what to do.
@@jeffcarroll1990shock for me it was probably just because of the weapons that the Germans had
@@jeffcarroll1990shock totally, hawk was a pretty aggressive AI and would draw a lot of fire. After he was gone the game got way harder.
Its probably due to ammo shortage
Because there's no Hawkins, Kelly and your character have to take charge because they're both Sergeants in this mission
I love how explosions looked in old games...almost more realistic honestly like fuzzy and shaky and the sound was honestly pretty groundbreaking for such an old game
You really connect to the squad members. I cried when Brooklyn died.

Freaking same here bro.
The BAR M1918 is my favorite gun in this game
I liked the kar98k
Always found this level creepy for some reason.
I think it was the Screamin Mimi's. They screeched like Stukas.
TheFlacker99 (Flak) that, and the fact that I fought through a graveyard while it was raining. It had that creepy atmosphere
they say joker is creepy
What everyone else said, and Bloomfield isnt there to give comic relief.
Rob
Where is Bloomfield at this time?

I wish it lasted longer. More people would have died right?

One of the coolest missions in the entire game, good playing :)
Challenging, rough, and gritty. They dont do single player missions like this anymore

It's missions like this where I wish you could have a shotgun. Something like the M1897. Still adore the M1 Carbine though.
Yeah the trench gun would have been great
This game got me hooked on cod for the past 15 years...
19:49 corporal Kelly? on this map at the start when you aimed at him, his title was already sgt. Kelly
Johnghost B. Probably cause he looks like a corporal, If I didn't know any better I would think that he's private or something
Technical issues, man.
Guess he got demoted for that paddling cock up
0:36 That could’ve been us! Paddle Smitty! PADDLE!

No offense to the guy but his aim gives me anxiety. But thank you for letting me relive part of my gamerhood.
Loved this mission because I never played a shooter game that had rain in it.
Atmosphere throughout this level is amazing.
I remember playing this and It was a challenge
Where was Brooklyn during this mission?
He was sick and got taken off the frontlines
You could call him Bloomfield. And he is from Bronx.
He got deployed somewhere else
The melee in this game is hilariously overpowered
Sound FX in this game is amazing - very gritty and realistic
I remember turning the difficulty up and getting shredded with a burst of mg and I was like nah *switch back to easy*
I didn't have a memory card, i had to play for 5 hours to get to this.
1:13 "Screaming Mimis!" What?
teodorogerald he Is name of die soldier but why his give shit name

From this mission and on, it takes place after the prologue mission.
