    Could you possibly press the HTV in the desired spot on the garment and then let it cool and then sub? Wasn’t sure if it mattered if the H TV was heated prior to placements.

    • @redgeminipa
      @redgeminipa 2 роки тому +6

      That's actually the preferred, and easier, way to do it. Just tape the sublimation print down so it doesn't shift when closing the heat press (highly preferred) or when using an Easy Press. And, contrary to what she says, pressure is key for good sublimation.

    I was looking for a tutorial on this exact technique. (I need all the help I can get, when it comes to aligning my design to the HTV cutout.) I kept putting in all the wrong search terms, somehow, and kept finding the "press it on the shirt first" instead of sublimating first, and adhering to the shirt later. Your video just happened to pop up in my recommendations just now, and I'm so grateful!

    Great video! I'm curious as to why you didn't adhere the glitter vinyl to the shirt first, then line up the print and then hit it with the press to sublimate it? That would eliminate the need for the Teflon sheet. I really enjoy your tutorials!

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  3 роки тому +21

      I find it hard to line up the design after it's on the shirt, and holding up the shirt to the light doesn't allow light through the same way the teflon sheet does. But if that process works for you, it's totally fine. I feel better knowing that my design is lined up before pressing on the shirt, so I can repress if needed before applying. Hope this helps! ---Becky

    Thank you so much for the great video :) One little thing tho. I was waiting for the reason as to why you need a dedicated teflon sheet for this. I also used my heat press. teflon on bottom, image and butcher paper on top. What I didn't realize is when I lifted the teflon off my heat press it left a perfect melted shape on my heat press pad :(
    but my print turned out beautifully lol

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Charlene! When you say a melted shape, could that be extra adhesive from your HTV coming through the Teflon? That's what I'm thinking due to another viewers experience also. I have not experienced this before but I'm researching this for you guys. I'm wondering if it's because of the higher pressure. But to answer your original question, I use a dedicated Teflon sheet because of the adhesive and the sub ink, I don't want any of that to transfer to my HTV projects. Hope this helps! ---Becky

    Great video. I do it a little differently. I actually tack the glitter to the teflon sheet for a few seconds. It is then much easier to remove the carrier sheet. Then line up your print. You don't need to spray it, you can actually tape it to the teflon sheet.

      Great tips, Buddy! I don't press on the Teflon yet because it's easier for me to line up with just the HTV, but everyone has a different preference! I'm glad you found what works for you and are sharing it to help others! I appreciate you! ---Becky

      Buddy, any tips on this process. I have a design with lots of letters so I am thinking I can press that onto the teflon sheet first. Then line up my sublimation print. Just don't know how it will work when peeling up from the teflon sheet to place on the garment. I imagine there is a risk of all the letters moving around.

    Do you ever notice any loss of saturation when using the tack spray ? not sure if it makes a barrier between the polyacrylic in the glitter htv causing it to not be as vibrant as it can be since the glitter takes away some already compared to easysubli. Nevertheless this must be the smartest transfer technique I've ever seen with no margin of error . I was trying to come up with a solution to ensure a perfect alignment to the htv and this is genius!

    • @redgeminipa
      @redgeminipa 2 роки тому

      She does this a very difficult and time consuming way.
      Mirror the glitter HTV, as usual, then press it for about 5 seconds. Peel off the carrier sheet. Print (mirrored) your sublimation design. Trim if needed, then (heat) tape it down on the HTV you just quick pressed on your item. Press at 400º for 60 seconds with higher pressure. Pressure is one of the keys to good sublimation saturation. That's one reason why it pays to buy a pretty decent heat press.
      Also, check into Honestly Spinking sublimation paper (that's what I'm getting next), and I use Dyenamic Ink sublimation ink found on Etsy for my Epson printer. Beautiful, vibrant colors, especially on white glitter HTV. I just made a Bengals shirt for my husband, and the colors pop. Just to note, I typically use Siser white glitter HTV. It works well, and no loss of vibrancy.

    I was told yesterday (4-11-2022) that you can use any color glitter? not just white. but they use specialty materials which may be different than what you used. OR is there an update on sublimating on glitter? I'd like to experiment with other colors but thought I'd ask first before wasting or purchasing materials. I do have other colors of glitter from a different company. (not the Specialty Materials brand) I think it's Siser but not sure. You said you were using white glitter but something other than standard white glitter? had colored specks in it? or did I hear that wrong? but I think you answered my question. that question was although your glitter had to be cut to a certain spec to fit the design - the sublimation printed out on your printers did not also have to be a specific cut to match, you just needed to line it up with your cut vinyl? and that is because white won't print? just the printed design.??

      After I sublimate on the Glitter HTV, I just press for the recommended 320 degress for 15 seconds to adhere to the shirt. Hope this helps! ---Becky

      Hey Yvonne, unfortunately you cannot, but you can sublimate on Siser EasySubli, which is a matte white HTV meant for sublimation. Hope this helps! ---Becky

    • @DesignBundles

      Hey there! Glitter Iron-on and HTV should be the same, Iron-on is just typically a term used for Cricut brand. I haven't tried Cricut brand, only Stahls and Siser, but it should work the same. Hope this helps! ---Becky

    Okay, so correct me if my thinking is wrong- but this method would not work for images that are more than one piece, yes? I want to make a unicorn head on a shirt for my daughter. But the eyelashes for the unicorn's face are separate/unattached pieces from the unicorn horn and crown. So this method wouldn't work then, right?

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Shawanda! With dark color tees, you can definitely use the sublimation and glitter HTV method, it turns out great. But you won't be able to sublimate directly onto the dark fabric, you won't be able to see the design well. Hope this helps! ---Becky

    • @DesignBundles

      Hi Kilah! This feels more like a vinyl project rather than a sublimation project. The HTV sits on top of the shirt rather than the it being infused like sublimation does. 😊
