Tobey was gone, and the next 3 films by another actor garfield weren't great so as to catapult his portrayal into the mcu/avengers. Everyone was unsure about the future of spidey. Questions arose on how he was going to be rebooted. Whos going to produce, star, direct? Spidey for a long time was under sony. Add to that, the former producers and directors and writers had falling out issues with studio. And garfield got himself fired for snubbing party invite of japanese ceo of sony. So i can understand akasans reaction perfectly. No one ever expected spidey would be included alongside the other actors. Of course comic lovers know for a fact that spidey is really part of avengers team. It is just that, no one really knew when he would make an appearance in the mcu avengers...
