Right.. considering Tidewalls can move and charging tankshock is done on toughness. Can we charge Tidewalls, they don't have a melee stat but would allow breachers to move up?
Almost certainly an attempt to differentiate between railgun and high-yield missile pods. 1x3 missile-broadsides cost effectively 100ppm and 1x2 railgun broadsides cost 90ppm as you're rarely taking that 3rd broadside.
Unfortunately we got slammed for other armies sins looking at you Guard and necrons!!! We will get something eventually but I will revisit kroot at some point to see if I can make something out of a bad situation.
Gotta love having fun kroot rules for a month or 2 and then getting all the toys taken away. War shaper already wasn't amazing and now does almost nothing except be an assassin if you invest the extra points and lock yourself out of one of the other enhancements. Trail shapers have lost the safety they provided. Hidden hunters doesn't cover rampager threat range anymore unless theyre going to give them advance and charge or increased movement. Join the hunt feels like a forced decision of you have to use it on a 20 carnivore blob or lose out with no room for anything else.
I hate to see that Tau have more 2 CP strats across four detachments than Chaos has across eight detachments. Only Farsight will give reduced CP use as an ability while Chaos has all those characters. That is INSANE to me and would have like to see several strats reduced in cost.
Puretide Engram Neurochip gonna do stonks in Retaliation Cadre when it gets clarified. You are right about Chaos though. I collect them too. Nothin' but Lords and more Lords for HQs in that army. I guess it's for lore reasons/ an attempt at making the 2 factions feel distinct and have a different flavour (???) CSM is all about bands of ferocious Warriors being encouraged and inspired to fight for glorious champions and exalted warlords. Maybe GW wants that to be the factions' identity, so they design them to have easy access to free stratagems if they're being led by ferocious warlords, but the stratagrms themselves don't actually do anything too ridiculous or op. And also at the expense of CSM players finding it really really hard to find any units with high AP in that army. ( Seriously, good luck getting any AP higher than -3 unless you're playing 1 very specific detachment and the unit's on an objective. You've no idea how infuriating the lack of AP can be sometimes.😂) Meanwhile Tau units get to sneeze and plop out an insane amount of high AP shots with minimal effort that wipe out whole deathstar bricks with ease, much to my opponent 's chagrin 😂. We make an absolute mockery out of 2+ save vehicles in cover. Even Armour of Contempt barely gets them up to a 6+. Even 4+ invulns only help half the time. The downside being, Tau have to be very careful with CP, and really plan ahead and figure out how and when to use these very powerful stratagems. You know, Like a highly intelligent commander and strategist viewing the battlefield through a holo field in a command bunker reading Puretide's Art of War. (Edited for spelling and grammer)
1 - update the entire kroot model range giving them some of the sickest models out there 2 - give kroot their own detachment with a bunch of flavorful abilities and awesome strategems 3 - the community's reaction is that they're kinda playable. Nowhere near overpowered with clear draw backs and blind spots in their range 4 - raise their points, nerf basically all their strategems ... 5 - no one enjoys playing kroot, time to abandon them for the next 10 to 20 years
Why are vespids still the worst at their specific ability? Like obviously no one was paying attention to tau with this BDS outside of points, or we wouldn't now have a whole ass dead enhancement, but this would have been the time to do it....
These new rules additions are genuinely pointless. They just keep making the game more time-consuming by adding convoluted mechanics instead of streamlining the game in ways that make sense.
...but Hammerheads and Devilfish only come with 60mm round flying bases, and round bases are excluded from having a pivot value of 2"

I had a fond 2 games with the kroot detachment, time to never finish painting them and only run a handful in montka for screening purposes
Man, the lone op nerf, trail shaper nerf and the revive nerf. That hurt me right in the kroot :(

on the positive side for the kroot detachment, they are longer tied to taking an ethereal in every list. so there's that. lol.
My favorite list to play is Mont’ka list tiled Tau-kyo Drift. It is a vehicle heavy list drifting around corners and firing.

but tau vehicles have round flight bases so aren't they, according to the rule, excluded from the pivot rule.
Technically, Hammerheads/Devilfish/Piranhas have round bases... so does that mean they pivot for free?

Broadside point change was on purpose? 3 for 300 while in other cases you pay 90 points per model....

Yes he is very good and arguably better now as he can use his ability on any strat that just targets himself or his unit
