I am glad you mentioned this. I only buy structure decks and play myself with them. Not interested in booster pack, I just want structure decks that consist with 25th Anniversary nostalgia and it seems like they don't want to perhaps even give us the old school starter decks of yugi and kaiba due to 25th.
The Jack Atlus structure deck got me back into Yugioh after a 10 year hiatus. For what it is worth nostalgia products do have merit in player retention.
There's a very good reason Konami uses blue eyes/dark magician yugiboomer stuff in ALL their marketing. It's literally the icon of the Master Duel app, it's all over the storefronts for the game, it's in all their social media... the tragic part is that people will see that and then meet face-first the wall that is modern Yugioh, with no opportunity to play the game as they remember. It's like a contradiction.
@@steel5897 yeah… at least the Jack Atlus support was decently competitive. I enjoyed playing it and slowly updating it with new extra deck monsters. I love the DM era but 5D has it own set of younger fans as well and seeing that structure deck was an impulse buy I didn’t regret lol
I started yugioh back in the day with the original yugi and Kaiba starter decks. Loved the game for a long time. Stopped playing around 5ds. Just recently got back into it with the fire kings structure deck. Bought 3 and made a deck then bought extra stuff for upgrades. Loving playing again. So much fun
It's crazy that it's May and we haven't gotten any structure decks for 2024. I'd love to see more good anime structure decks, especially if they go through a bunch of characters that haven't gotten much love in the recent years.
I would love an update to the Fortune Lady/Carly Carmine archetype. It got a small update in 2019, nothing since, and it's not even close to being able to keep up with the modern game. Other 5Ds archetypes have seen updates, like Blackwing and Earthbound Immortal (and the myriad of updates Yusei's and Jack's archetypes have gotten), so I think if they're looking for more, it would be a great choice. It's a unique archetype that deserves more love.
The fact that tactical try decks cost 10 DOLLARS A POP with lightning storm, 3x ash, 3x maxx c, 2x called by with generic staple extra deck cards?? It's literally crazy and I was thinking Konami TCG WOULD NEVER want to print this lmao. You can buy just 1 of each archetypes (Eldlich, Cyber Dragons, and Live Twins) and got 1-2 playsets of staples AND 3 ready to play decks. TRUST ME the OCG players in my country went freaking crazy and buying out pre orders of this when the card list of cyber dragons released with many staples. These products will LITERALLY SELL LIKE HOT CAKES and TCG Konami would be dumb if they never release it on the west with their marked up staple price
I would get in on that if it came over here. I'm not really into Eldlich, and I can't stand Cyber Dragons, so I would probably go with Live Twins. It kind of has a Pokemon 3 starter choice vibe to it, and that sounds like a lot of fun. It would be even cooler if local places held little tournaments with those three decks as the theme.
@@emissaryofcharybdis105 Correction it was 2 Maxx C and 2 Ash blossom. But yeah Live Twins is pretty cool and I agree there should be events promoting this decks, considering it will open floodgates of new players in the TCG if it will ever release over there
@@butterguardian7063 Out of the 3, Live Twin would be the most different from things I've played thus far. It'd be my first Link-centric archetype, for sure. Knowing that, and if local places did events for it, I might even go to them. I'm strictly a Master Duel player, but I HAVE built the decks I use IRL, despite not actually playing anyone with them.
pot of prosperity common is the most unhinged thing that I can't think of, and they did reprint them on tactical try deck, gotta buy 3 of them just to collect some staples 😂
2024 is about halfway over, and no structure decks. Hope they aren’t secretly ditching them altogether in the TCG, because the OCG has had 4 in the past month alone.
I was honestly surprised that Konami never did what Pokémon does with their structure decks, of providing a code to allow the deck to be used online, it would make easier for players who are starting Master Duel from scratch. I also think a structure deck only format would be cool and may be more ideal for younger players to get around the costs involved in playing meta decks.
As a MD player it feels surreal to get so many of these "UR" staples for so cheap with these decks. But then again we get SP Little Knight for the same price as any other UR card, meanwhile you TCG guys need to choose between getting that card and paying rent this month so it's all good.
Playing competitive yugioh is far more affordable in MD. I personally don't have multiple accounts, but it's technically a way to cheat around the pay wall. It blows my mind how many people are willing to complain about the price of the physical game when there are alternatives.
You could also play 100% for free on YGO Omega. Master Duel us only played because it's "official" from Konami. But it lacks best of 3, TCG banlist, new cards and fast card resolve. I quit MD a while ago to only play on Omega and it's so much better. And it has a ranked ladder too. Plus I can play any deck I want. Best of 1, Maxx C (and OCG meme format in general) plus the fact that I need to pay/farm gems completly ruins it.
Would not mind (and would highly appreciate) a dual structure deck release of Joey's red eyes and Pegasus' Thousand eyes. Hell maybe a toon one would be cool too.
Personally, I am a casual player and one who likes to collect decks for fun, so yeah, structures decks have always been my favorite product and I'd like to get more based on anime characters or old archetypes that are bit hard to find right now. I actually like the idea ofthe Tactical-Try, since for example I don't have an Eldlich nor Evil Twin decks.
Not structure decks, but the "rental decks" in Over the Nexus (WCS 2011) were great as well. I had been playing casually before that, but I think they were the first exposure I had to archetype-based decks running duplicates of the best cards (tho they still weren't FULLY optimized)
I love how Legacy of the Duelist lets you either build your own deck or run an anime-appropriate deck for all the duels. It feels like having structure decks up against each other to me, in a great way.
Personally, I'd love to see some lore style duel structure decks. albaz vs despia, goblin bikers vs diabelstar, ancient gear vs neos, shinking sarcophogous vs egyptian gods.
Maybe Konami should be asking the fans what structure decks they would want to see. Polling, questionnaires, and so forth. More interaction with the player base might help to let them know what people want updated in a structure, and what they would go out and buy. I was thrilled when I learned about the Traptrix update/structure version, and another structure deck ended up being my absolute favorite archetype, Lair of Darkness (though it REALLY needed some creative tweaks on my end). I remember also wishing the Icejade update was put into a full archetype structure deck, as I think people would love it if they got some instruction on how it works. Structures have had a massive influence on me as a player, so I would gladly contribute on my part if Konami regularly addressed the fans over what structures should be made.
>Konami >Asking the fans HUH?!? YOU WANT MORE DM NOSTALGIC! HERE YOU GO, WHAT STRUCTURE DECK YOURE TALKING ABOUT? *Komoney raughing their way to the bank*
There’s no “overprinting” of staples. That should not be something that’s discouraged. Cards like evenly, TTT, and lightning storm should be PENNIES just like how in the first structure decks, staples like snatch steal were printed with everything. We need to copy Pokemon in this regard, where they have cards like Professors Research reprinted to oblivion making the game so much more excessible
it will never be like pokemon, since by the time they reprint staples they become completely useless after releasing a secret that take the spot of the old one, hence the game prices remain the same all the time, if not worse
Yeah Konami is being weird about releases this year. We are 13 days away from rarity collection 2, and a month away from this years battles of legend with no promotion or updates. It makes me wonder if there will be delays
I'm also concerned about Terminal Revenge, not just because the website glitch situation, but because I fear that the reprints they choose for the set might be a miss, but yeah no info does kinda suck, especially since Terminal Revenge comes out before Animation Chronicle, and on that tangent, like Monstrous Revenge I feel that the set shouldn't really have the "Battles of Legend" label imo.
@@tylerkennedy8564 I just saw the reddit post, from a day ago. I'm glad they are starting the openings, however that is 11 days before product release. As a consumer, wouldn't you like to know what you're buying a bit earlier? Especially in the current climate where stores are dropping your product due to bad returns? Konami is acting like they are Apple, when in actuality they are starting to get the same reputation as a SoundCloud rapper. If you wait till 11 days before a product release to promote it, what audience are you trying to capture?
@@silversalamence10 I still want Terminal Revenge and yes, the main Yugioh website hasn't been updated yet. I mean, Battles of Legends: Chapter 1 is really good and I got some good cards because Target and Best Buy have those. I haven't purchased a single set of Monstrous Revenge and I am curious how good it is.
@@MadeInChina06 i was thinking something leaning more into the Dark Clown aesthetic. Also, did they make a Performage structure deck? Not trying to sound sarcastic, genuinely asking.
I think the Tactical Try decks would work better in the TCG than most think. There's still a lot of people who would pick them up to try a deck they never felt interested in investing the money into building AND it provides an easier way to perform the structure deck tournament idea you brought up (as it brings the entry price down to just the cost of 1 structure deck). Tie in the structures with Master Duel (with branding or potentially even using incentive rewards for buying the deck physically) and there's a LOT of potential on the table.
I feel like they made the structure decks anime related would go better than having to buy them from booster sets like an example I would use is adding the new clear cards put into a structure deck instead of in anime only booster set I think would make it easier for people to play the game that way
I know this is unrelated but I really miss back in the day how they would release several collector tins at once for different characters with different promos I really think they should bring that back
More structure decks would be amazing! They're so good for Domain Format, usually just gotta pick the right deckmaster and add about 20ish cards and you can play!
I think the problem is that the TCG just doesnt want to release the Tactical Try Decks. They don't know how to make those products worse without pissing off the community, so they just aren't going to release them at all. Not to mention that with Maxx C banned in the TCG, you'd have to adjust the non-engine cards in there out of necessity and idk if Konami would be willing to put 2 copies of Prosperity into a structure deck, not to mention that Spright Blue and Spright Jet are still money cards on the secondary market. Printing those would also be bad for vendors, even though I think its EXACTLY what the game needs to get people into paper play. The reality is that with the way the secondary market works in the TCG (where there's just not as big of a collector's market as games like Pokemon), the game pretty much makes its money off of whats competitive. So printing stuff like the Tactical Try decks in the TCG goes against their financial interests because the culture of the TCG community is just vastly different from the OCG. There's a large sect of players in the TCG community who outside of the DM-5Ds era don't care that much about the anime. Hell, I started playing in 2021 and only really watched the original series for the first time after learning the game. I have ZERO nostalgia for the anime and care more about the card lore. I only care about the DM-era stuff because I think the story of the original manga/anime was really good, I genuinely think it holds up well. But anyways, the collector's market problem could be easily resolved if Konami started also locking alt arts behind rarities like statlight rare, collector's rare, what have you (as well as just started printing more alt arts in general). Just rarity bumping beloved cards like Dante or what have you at stupidly high rarities isn't enough anymore I think. Konami needs to do a better job of fostering a collector's market so that the player base can suffer less. Konami also needs to further capitalize on people who enjoy lore-based archetypes. Stuff like the Albaz, Aluber and Ecclesia alt arts are a step in the right direction, Konami needs to really milk alt arts for what they're worth tbh. The best thing that Konami did right lately was print alt arts of the Evil Twin link monsters. I'd highly recommend that they do the same for archetypes like Dragon Maid, Tearlaments or Labrynth for example. THATS the sort of shit that modern day collectors in this game would want. Thats one of the big things about the Pokemon TCG and why their collector's market works. Their collectors want all the different arts of their favorite Pokemon. For whatever reason, Yugioh isnt willing to embrace that and its partially affecting the price of the game. Like, if Konami printed a copy of Incredible Eccledia that showed her eating a Hungry Burger, i'd be willing to fork over 100 dollars for a single copy if they locked it behind a collector's rare or some shit. It'd look really good in a binder and it'd surely raise in value over time so long as Konami doesnt get too crazy with reprinting alt arts. Not to mention that vendors pulling it from cases of a given product could use it to further cover the expense of the case, which would help bring down the price of the rest of the cards.
My buddy pararel rare alternate evil twins arts in ocg is 5million idr how much is that? Roughly 4.6k usd. "Can't have transferred to md" Go look at tactical try eldlich, it doesn't have maxx c, Konami ocg is dead set that maxx c is not meant to be played everywhere, you don't want to play maxx c in deck like eldlich or vaylantz.
That was loaded and not probably better suited for an in-person conversation. You say the TCG is more competitively minded, yet we can't get competitive decks like Tactical Try because they can't figure out how to make it less competitive? That's counterintuitive. They are not above giving out high end reprints in structure decks as they are usually welling points and we just got rarity collection where they were willing to give every card 7 different prints so the value of everything involved was extremely cheap so I don't byt that they are being stingey. Also, the comparison to pokemon is fair, but it's not just about alt arts. They have fans who buy into toys, video games, movies, and yes, even the anime, which the main story followed the same character for 25 years, so people were attached to those characters. Nostalgia is a huge part of it, and the brand doesn't center itself exclusively around a card game, least of which are the most competitive, hard core players.
Crimson King was a special case to me, a LOT of bad reprint, no handtraps or good board breakers but amazing structure in the sense 3 of them give you the full deck A good deck to me, for this perspective
At this point, I'm surprised they haven't just gone through every character from the anime/manga seasons and just make structure decks for everyone. Can have some new and retrains of cards since there are many retrains of DM cards nowadays and can just both update older monsters, reintroduce people to the various characters, both main and side, and people can use monsters they were fans of but have become (or were never) viable. Things like when Team 5D's vs. Taiyo were old cards had some spotlight helps with both nostalgia and see something new/updated. Also we still don't have Bastion's Fire Dragon >.>
The Jack Atlas structure deck is probably the craziest one I’ve seen in recent memory, the fact that it just GIVES you Red Supernova Dragon is insane in itself
It's odd that Konami hasn't released a structure deck this year. As a casual Yugioh fan who has returned to collecting cards after a 20-year absence, I will be down for this year's structure deck because I like collecting Yugioh cards, that's exactly one of my hobbies.
@@gamerwolffang2722I work at a Walmart, as far as I’m aware the only structure decks cheater than $10 are the reprints of older (and bad) decks (saga of blue eyes) for $8
Honestly it be nice if they fixed the CyberDark archtype to work better with the cyber dragon archtype, like for example give them the ability to attach level 4 and lower dragon and machine monsters, make more cyber cards that support them both like seriously there meant to be one archtype not separate.
@@eslin2845 but anyone who has watched GX knows that Zhane ran both together,so it’s obvious they should Function same in irl format as they do in anime.
I think structure decks can be used to help players like myself both get back into the game, and also explore new archetypes at a low entry price. The Egyptian God decks got me into collecting and playing in 2020, and then Albaz Strike fully got me (and coworkers) back into YuGiOh and going to locals! I tend to build decks based of cards I like, and I’m open to explore since I’m not too concerned with playing beyond local. Having structure decks that both reprint good staples, and have interesting cards I think would be a big win for middle ground players in the TCG!
@@TheRecklessMetalhead Lair of Darkness was a structure deck too, but I think they dropped the ball on it big time with how many tribute-based cards are out there that they could have used. It also got an update with the new Lady of Lament monsters, so it's become far more formidable overall. I think if they did a second run with the new Lament Lady monsters and more tribute-focused cards like Painful Escape, Mystik Wok, Ballista Squad, and Share the Pain, it would really be a scary contender.
@@Frogleeoh it’s honestly not awful even now. It asks very little of you; easy search, easy pop, goes battle well. Even the synchro is passable, just the restrain sucks.
Cyber Dragon and Ligtsworn got a lot of love. I'd like to see Summoned Skull come back and reclaim it's former glory. Gusto + Beast Tamer ; Gishki + Nekroz ; Beetrooper ; Jinzo... So much cards or archtype to support... It's hard to pick only one.
something that i have seen a lot of confusion about is that the tactical try out decks is just a rental, you do not get to keep the deck they just lend you the deck for the event
I've been hoping for a water structure deck too, but I would personally like a Marincess deck. I like that strategy a lot and structure decks are always great ways to get into a new strategy. Just buy three and you basically have what you need to get started. Then you can upgrade your deck over time. It's a cool and fun way to build decks and play the game. I hope they don't get rid of structrue decks any time soon.
I want them to advertise the structure decks with animated shorts of an original character playing the deck, showing off the main strats and a couple of combos leading to win! That along with anime archetypes and decks would be AWESOME! I would love to see sets of 2 decks that you could play off, watching your videos of the structure decks going against each other having legit back and forth was so fun!
Have been looking into that topic aswell and the TCG has an Lightsworn Structure Deck coming that seems to be super old in the OCG but allows us to get reprints of monsters that are too old and expensive to buy.
Another idea is they could start releasing short lore videos about the structure decks. I think an issue with modern yugioh is that people who don't already play don't really have a way to get attached to a deck other than playing it. Thats why so many returning or new players gravitate to DM and blue-eyes because its the only decks they know and have some kind of connection with. Another example is a lot of people like the albaz and world chalice lore but i garentee you not a single person who doesn't already play the game knows anything about either of those archetypes
Spot on with what you said about being in Yu-Gi-Oh or out of it. As a returning player I just found it so difficult to get back into the game that I ended up just going to other tcgs. I feel like structure decks should serve to bring in new players and bring back old players but I just don't see anyone doing that. Either structure decks don't feel playable in competitive Yu-Gi-Oh or competition from other TCGs is to strong to bring in player bases with that product.
It can sometimes feel like a game where it takes a crew of pre-existing friends like Team APS to actually enjoy the fun of structure decks, battle packs, limited formats, cubes and the like; both Konami's store support policy and the store communities that ingrain around it make competitive Advanced basically everything. Just finding a group of friends that care about enjoying a game more than eternally prepping for the next tournament shouldn't be such a frustrating aspiration, and Konami being so begrudging about making accessibility products like structure decks and punishing people for daring to buy into the game with them really isn't helping.
Salamangreat SD is releasing tomorrow and will have good reprints, I'm grabbing it for the triple tactics thrust foil. We never had it above Rare here in OCG.
Structure decks will always hold a special place in my heart, I was always too late for the starter decks but never missed (and had the most fun with) the structure decks and this video has definitely brought me up to speed on what I’ve missed this in this decade so far.
I still remember the zombie madness deck when i played old school yugioh. It's such a great starter deck I almost won at my locals just with the structure deck.
If they do bring in the tactical try decks, i feel like it'll be like the box set decks like they had in 2016-2019(legendary dragon decks, legendary Hero decks, etc)
Honest they have yet to do barian Emperor decks yet or they could print and release each anime character deck that would booster sales I mean alot of theses Characters are very much In very high demand
I've been thinking the model of buying 3x structure decks should go away. Make it more expensive and change the ratios. A playset of all the new/meta/engine cards. Get rid of all the filler. Provide sleeves maybe so that it's ready to play out of the box and is a viable deck from just 1 box.
I lost my mind at the Traptrix structure deck. I hard mained Traptrix BEFORE the support for years and it was tough but I found success. Now they're just leagues better, and I'm so happy for it.
It'll be smarter to do 3x deck in one box. Because Konami will be using less resources to create boxes which means they'll be saving money. It seems they're going on the saving money route due to the changes of size of the structure deck.
@@markcoroneos7811 The idea supposedly is that it's less about paying for 3 products, but rather about physically taking 3 products off the shelves to help stores free up that real estate faster. Starter/structure decks in general don't tend to make nearly as much profit as booster packs, especially ones that are only priced around $10-$15. Oftentimes they may even be considered to be loss leaders.
@@markcoroneos7811 We already kinda had those and were good. Legendary Dragon Decks and Legendary Hero Decks was just that. Something like Try-out Deck Collection or similar names could work for them.
I hate that structure decks have no duplicates and a lot of filler. Buying three of those is NOT budget when you live in other countries like Brazil, and I wish they were a bit more like Pokemon's starter decks. Those actually have duplicates and reasonable FUNCTIONAL strategies out of the box. A single ygo structure is more expensive than a pokemon starter and considerably less playable. Having to buy three feels terrible here.
nothing hit like Albaz Strike, They need to drop Swordsoul and Ashened as a structure deck.. with 1 random secret from the decks monsters to give it a chase.
I bought the 3X Traptrix one because it seemed complete and I like collectibles. You basically have to build Branded at this point that structure is doodoo.
Yes especially seeing whats in the new blue-eyes deck in the ocg it would be nice if structure decks were exempt from forbidden / limited rules as long as they only run cards listed on their contents.
Two structure decks I hope we get is a Ra deck and a Exodia deck, its weird we got a Slyther and Obolisk deck, and Exodia is getting a bunch of support. Also, make the Ra deck a brdige deck that you could combine all three of the god deck to make a god deck. Also, would love some Zexal Decks. Of course make the Main Three(Yuma, Shark & Kite), but it would also be cool to make the Seven barrian decks, with maybe a Don 1000 deck.
The OCG Actually did release a ZeXal Themed Deck back in 2021 with a new Utopia Form to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh ZeXal Anime. UNFORTUNATELY the TCG didn't even bother printing it and the cards from the Structure Deck went into Brothers of Legends.
They should make the small archetypes that won't have a huge card pool (say the new Shining sarcophagus Yugi stuff) into a structure deck rather than a booster. They could've made bank off a Yugi Muto Shining Sarcophagus Structure Deck
I love playing a Cyber Dragon Deck. Cyber Strike was the first Yugioh deck I ever bought, when I got into the game a year ago. I'd love to see another version of the Cyber Deck made, but i think Konami more interested in the 25th anniversary right now. 2024 going into 2025 they seem to be printing more large retro box sets. I think once that subsides, you'll see a new series of structure decks.
I agree that structure deck-only tournament support would be huge. The old pokemon tcg online (haven't looked too much at the new one, but could be there too) supported starter deck tournaments. You were incentivized to buy the newer ones or ones with better staple supporter cards, but type match ups did matter too and so counter picking the "meta" starters was also an option
I would love to see them make new support for the Orichalcos archetype in a structure deck. I believe that archetype has a LOT of potential to be competitive.
We are getting Structure Deck R of the Lightsworn in June. Japan also announced Tactical Tri Decks for Eldlich, Cyber Dragons and Evil Twins. Also just today they announced a new Blue Eyes Deck with 8 new cards. This in combination with the cards from new Rarity Collection II, like the Bingo Machine look pretty good to me. Yea, we got no dates for any of those in the TCG, but we got several good cards this year already and going forward, so I'm not really looking for another structure decks besides that at the moment. Guess no big problem here.
Yooo, Konami recently released an errata version of "Max C" now only available in the OCG. It's called "Multchummy Purulia" But boy is it going to be wild in TCG Effect: "If you control no cards (Quick Effect): You can discard this card; apply these effects for the rest of this turn. ● Each time your opponent Normal or Special Summons a monster(s) from the hand, immediately draw 1 card. ● During the End Phase, if you have more cards in your hand than the number of cards your opponent controls +6, shuffle random cards from your hand into the Deck equal to the difference. You can only activate the effects of other "Multchummy" monsters once the turn you activate this effect."
As a ygo player who only plays with structure decks and have been running structure deck tournaments since 2020, it's pretty concerning that a structure deck hasn't been announced yet. However, they recently announced Advent of the Eyes of Blue for the OCG so there's hope
I think they need to add code cards like Pokémon does which gets you packs in master duel and for the tryout deck or other decks moving forward, they include a code card that essentially gets you the same deck in master duel, maybe even unlocks a tutorial mode or something to teach you how to use it.
Dark Worlds were one of the top decks back when it was released, then again in when they got their 1st Structure. When the deck got the 2nd Structure it was in a time where it could not shine people were siding hate for Tear which unfortunately hit Dark Worlds much harder. But something I wish Konami would do is release a 3x Structure Deck Deluxe thing where it'd come with Sleeves, a rubber mat (Like the mat from Epic Dawn), a deck box and maybe even a pack that can rarity bump the deck. They could easily sell it for $40 - $60 and people would pick it up.
I love the modern structure decks. They feel so much better then the old ones. I do feel we need new releases of Structure decks. I like them over the tactical try decks because they always have new cards as well as good reprints, while the tactical try decks have the ladder they lack the former. Releasing them in pairs like the Asian-English Decks sounds like a great idea. Rather then having an entire format for Structure decks, having structure deck release events would be a great idea. They should use it to promote getting the games to new players, providing the deck with entry cost and power up packs similar to what are in the Asian-English decks. With Prize Support being additional packs. We would have to figure out how to make it fair for newer players and promote the vets teaching them however, which may be the difficult part.
Having to buy 3 structure decks i still think is a bad business practice that makes the product less interesting. I don't think we will but id love to get the taxtial try decks i don't think the lack of new cards would be an issue, from my locals it seems like so many players want to play a new deck every week if they bought 1 product off a shelf every few mojths and could just open it and play id suspect a lot of players would. At least with the current 3 in the OCG id probably pick up 2 of them and would of got 3 if i didn't already have evil twin stuff from ehen i played them eith Spright
Structure decks are usually hit or miss with rarely in between. You have god tier decks like fire kings and snake eyes, you got good decks like dark world and albaz, some ok decks like rokket revolt back in 2017, then very trash ones like the legend of blue eyes. But for the most part, Konami knows how to make a good structure deck
I feel like doing another structure deck right now would be very difficult due to the current power level of the meta. Obviously when you buy a structure deck you aren't meant to be playing top tier decks, but with things like Tenpai (which could be it's own structure deck realistically) and snake eyes, it becomes challenging to make a good one.
It is interesting how we are now almost halfway through 2024 and we haven’t gotten a structure deck now allegedly next month they are supposed to do a re-release of the realm of light structure deck, but as far as a brand new structure deck, Konami has been silent on it. Also I haven’t been a fan of the new packaging of structure decks since the Crimson King structure deck I missed when the older structure decks had a very straightforward kind of packaging
A huge advantage of commander pre-cons is that someone can just buy them an immediately play with friends, Yugioh needs an equivalent to really get a lot of new players
the ideal solution would be to mark up the price slightly, but then make the contents of the deck look like the 3x structure deck builds people make online. That way they become more relevant to the current meta. This would however mean you'd have to put less powerful reprints in there, to encourage deckbuilding and thinking outside of the box... the structure deck box.
There is a lot to think of but i want to focus on what a structure deck should do. Like you said in the video they usually are designed to bring up to snuff decks which may have gone by the wayside just look at the examples you gave in the video. I do like the idea of the ready made competitive decks and i think they could potentially make them competitive while also breathing new life into a archetype / deck that has gotten powercrept out. I mean you COULD put newer support cards in these competitive decks not just putting in cards that already existed just some food for thought.
I ordered a JP structure deck by accident once (HERO Strike), and have never been able to look at the TCG design with any positive feelings since. The one good thing I can say about the latter is that maybe they're a bit easier to recycle without the little plastic windows (though recycling is a bit wasteful compared to just USING LESS), and attaching the player guide to the back of the mat isn't the worst idea, but just stand any OCG structure deck box and its TCG counterpart side by side. The TCG ones are chunky monstrosities several inches larger than necessary with the art splashed over the front. Meanwhile the OCG boxes are barely larger than the deck itself, have the cards in a little plastic tray with the mat, rulebook and player guide folded up under the tray, and a little plastic window that lets you see the actual headline card instead of a blown-up image of it. Did I mention the quality of the OCG cards? They're not that different on the face of it, but the feel and handling is much smoother--the OCG cards will literally slide off if I try to stack them unsleeved! And that extends to the boxes, find me a TCG Structure Deck box with the shine of an OCG SD box.
I don't know if it's just a local printing problem, but the biggest problem I have with the recent structure decks is that the bottom edge of all cards of all decks is just damaged . Why is nobody talking about that? The structure decks I bought a year ago don't have that.
Hello! Wich would be the best structure deck to pair up against The Crimson King in order to have a balanced/fun/interactive duel? A friend gifted me The Crimson King structure deck and I would like to have another structure deck around the house to play against when casual friends come over. Any tip would be really apreciated. Cheers!
The Crimson King SD is what brought me back into the TCG after a long time, a friend of mine picked up the Egyptian God SDs to play with his brother and another friend of mine got Shaddoll cards and beat my ass, so I still have to improve my Crimson King SD, without straying too far from the theme, so I was thinking about the Bystials, so I at least have something to play through Winda. I also bought a playset of all Ashened cards except Veidos and his spell, because I really like the Dark Souls influence of these cards. Sadly Veidos is too pricey for coffee table yugioh (currently around 60 Euros for a playset without shipping), so I'll have to wait for a potential reprint that will hopefully be lower rarity. I'd love the tactical try decks, simply to make staples more accessible. My friend group doesn't use staples because we try to keep our decks on theme, but picking up cheap imperms and ashes wouldn't hurt. As for SDs yes I'd love to see more of them, but I'd most likely end up not getting most of them, unless I like the archetype/playstyle.
So I'd love a tournament format where it was a structure decks only. Could do something where they have to bring a sealed structure or the tournament supplies a certain stock of them. Then the prizes could be upgrades to the structure or other staple cards that are more expensive/rare/hard to find I've played structures since I started yugioh. I think they are a fantastic way for people to start the game and have a low cost of entry. Tournaments set up around them would also add a fantastic way into the tournament scene with a low cost of entry.
I also have been wondering what new structure decks they might release. I got into YuGiOh through structure decks! I didn't want to spend too much on buying the newest hottest decks that I saw online so I picked up 1 copy each of Crystal Beast, Dark World, Crimson King, Trap Trix and had so much fun with those! I eventually budgeted enough money to get 3x for all of those and even some other structure decks like Blue Eyes, Spirit Charmers. Me and my siblings love playing with all the different decks. I hope they release a water themed one that would be cool
I've been getting a friend into the game who used to play with me at the lunch table, the speed duel boxes with the deck variety has just helped like start his collection and then we've been getting structure decks to expand from there, and in like a month dude has like 6 decks and has taken a liking to heros, cybers, and roids unfortunately 😂
_I think we could all use a little bit more structure in our lives._
I hope we get a galaxy eyes structure deck one day
I am waiting for structure decks for SPYRAL, Sky Striker, and Exosister. I am also hoping for a reprint of the Lightsworn structure deck.
Agreed.
Honestly I just want to see a ritual structure deck, that would be a good idea
I am glad you mentioned this. I only buy structure decks and play myself with them. Not interested in booster pack, I just want structure decks that consist with 25th Anniversary nostalgia and it seems like they don't want to perhaps even give us the old school starter decks of yugi and kaiba due to 25th.
Biggest issue is they dont have the little card windows anymore
Finally someone speaking the real facts.
Honestly yeah
The TCG structure decks never had windows.

Yeah, what got me back in Yugioh was the Obelisk deck, even if the structure deck was cheeks haha

I want a 2 seperate Mai Valentine structure decks. One of Harpie's and Amazonas. A Pegasus structure deck would be cool too

@starknightcorvus Jesus, I didn't even think about the lack of structures til you mentioned it.
Two archetypes I can think of that need love is cloudians and vemons
I guarantee you, if they ever ever decide to bring that over, it's going to have a massive price hike
Probably makes more money in Japan.
@@carljimen codes would be so good, but they would need to add all the cards as they release which would be a ton of work.
True that would be awesome, I would totally by the Krimson King Jack Atlus structure deck if I could use it on Master Duel too, easily
@@shakewellerMD needs to get taken out back imo
Would not mind (and would highly appreciate) a dual structure deck release of Joey's red eyes and Pegasus' Thousand eyes. Hell maybe a toon one would be cool too.
Updated Toons would be awesome; the schenadigan value alone would be worth it.
One of the old 5DS video games on DS, had a thing where each player uses a Structure Deck.
Reverse of Arcadia(WCS 2010)
Not structure decks, but the "rental decks" in Over the Nexus (WCS 2011) were great as well.
I had been playing casually before that, but I think they were the first exposure I had to archetype-based decks running duplicates of the best cards (tho they still weren't FULLY optimized)
I love how Legacy of the Duelist lets you either build your own deck or run an anime-appropriate deck for all the duels. It feels like having structure decks up against each other to me, in a great way.

Exactly. As soon as a card is seen as a staple Konami should see that as a sign to SPAM that shit to hell and back!
The rarity collection openings are literally on Monday lol
@@tylerkennedy8564 I just saw the reddit post, from a day ago. I'm glad they are starting the openings, however that is 11 days before product release.

I know this is unrelated but I really miss back in the day how they would release several collector tins at once for different characters with different promos I really think they should bring that back
More structure decks would be amazing! They're so good for Domain Format, usually just gotta pick the right deckmaster and add about 20ish cards and you can play!
Oh my Lord, you're right...
Context: I've never bought more than one structure deck at a time
Noted
"Can't have transferred to md"
Go look at tactical try eldlich, it doesn't have maxx c, Konami ocg is dead set that maxx c is not meant to be played everywhere, you don't want to play maxx c in deck like eldlich or vaylantz.
Crimson King was a special case to me, a LOT of bad reprint, no handtraps or good board breakers but amazing structure in the sense 3 of them give you the full deck
A good deck to me, for this perspective
Crimson King gave RDA an actual main deck, which was something that was lacking so badly.
@gamingdragonofmordor3770 but is it tournament level ready? I feel like they know they won't ever be competitive and are just giving them away

something that i have seen a lot of confusion about is that the tactical try out decks is just a rental, you do not get to keep the deck they just lend you the deck for the event
Dark Magician Structure Deck with the current cards and the old packaging would be nice.
Literally needed to wait one day to find Old Blue-Eyes is back yet again
Hope the TCG copies the OCG's Tactical Decks recently
Sleeves are useless. that will add up costs on the structure deck and they'll throw in cheap sleeves.
Would be good but all they think is "yeah but....we can just make you pay for 3 products".
@@markcoroneos7811 The idea supposedly is that it's less about paying for 3 products, but rather about physically taking 3 products off the shelves to help stores free up that real estate faster. I'd like that new Exodia archetype made into a TCG SD.
Only if that deck can go against any deck on the Meta format like in Master Duel (like stop the power creep), would I be down for that.
Having to buy 3 actual structure decks is good to go against power creep like in Master Duel, imo.

@@sunhikari8161 this comment hurts me, not cause we didn't get the structure deck, but because YuGiOh Zexal is 10+ years old....
Structure decks need more "yugi and kaiba" decks we don't have "enough"
They should make the small archetypes that won't have a huge card pool (say the new Shining sarcophagus Yugi stuff) into a structure deck rather than a booster.
They could've made bank off a Yugi Muto Shining Sarcophagus Structure Deck
Realm of light is set to be reprinted in June was announced last month
Hooray...
If they do a red eyes or harpie lady structure deck that modernises the decks i will come back to this game.
@@Anastasis-is-here I’m hoping they do Red Eyes along with give it a proper play style
I think a structure deck with a whole new archetype. Or older dead decks making them fully competitive not just playable.
Still waiting for Akiza's deck, like they did with Jack's. No assault Rose Dragon???
Its GX's 20th anniversary, so seeing structure decks for that would be dope
It's called "Multchummy Purulia"
But boy is it going to be wild in TCG
Effect:
"If you control no cards (Quick Effect): You can discard this card; apply these effects for the rest of this turn.
There was also no deck build pack in May, which is strange.
Happily for you a blue eyes structure deck was announced
As a ygo player who only plays with structure decks and have been running structure deck tournaments since 2020, it's pretty concerning that a structure deck hasn't been announced yet. However, they recently announced Advent of the Eyes of Blue for the OCG so there's hope
i kinda noticed older cards were thicker than new ones. the only structure deck i bought back in highschool is zombie madness and ancient gear
I think pairs would be cool. Like a Dogmatika vs Albaz. Or Spellbooks vs Invoker. Or Sky Strikers vs Kaiju.
i think is more cool if is tactical try deck
Paul: "Maybe a triple-set of a Yuma, Shark, and Kite structure decks could be an idea."
Me (a Zexal fan): "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!"
The moment there's a dragonmaid structure deck in paper, I'm a gonner.
There's a retool of an older one coming in June, the Realm of Light structure. It's on their website.
I've been trying to get into Yu-Gi-Oh and just find some structure decks but it sucks they're so hard to find in person
A huge advantage of commander pre-cons is that someone can just buy them an immediately play with friends,
Yugioh needs an equivalent to really get a lot of new players
the ideal solution would be to mark up the price slightly, but then make the contents of the deck look like the 3x structure deck builds people make online. That way they become more relevant to the current meta. This would however mean you'd have to put less powerful reprints in there, to encourage deckbuilding and thinking outside of the box... the structure deck box.
there's many archetypes that Konami have neglect like Fortune Lady, Roids. In Structure Deck the OCG stopped the Structure Deck R
As for SDs yes I'd love to see more of them, but I'd most likely end up not getting most of them, unless I like the archetype/playstyle.
releasing 2 pair structure decks this year would be really cool and a great way for a couple of friends to try out the game.
What I really like with these recent structure decks are the meta relevant cards such as imperm, droll and ash
So I'd love a tournament format where it was a structure decks only.
Could do something where they have to bring a sealed structure or the tournament supplies a certain stock of them. Then the prizes could be upgrades to the structure or other staple cards that are more expensive/rare/hard to find
I've played structures since I started yugioh.
