    The first question is tricky. Periodontal disease means it could be the gingiva or the other structures, or all of the supporting structures around the teeth. So both C and D are correct. Inflammation of ALL of the structures are around the teeth.. but since Periodontum is all of the structures around the teeth ..it could mean a person has periodontal disease as well, and periodontitis.. which is an inflamed periodontium which actually describes that. Periodontitis is actually the symptom of periodontal disease. Am I not correct? To me, a person whom only displays gingivitis, we might not call it periodontal disease. Sorry, but I always question the question.

      Good question! Periodontal disease is a vague term because it can mean gingivitis OR periodontitis. If a person has gingivitis, we CAN say they have periodontal disease. Similarly, if a person has periodontitis, we also CAN say they have periodontitis.
      However, when an infection occurs in all parts of the periodontium, its definitely periodontitis. If I selected C (periodontal disease), I would be partially correct as C refers to gingivitis and/or periodontitis. It's the 2nd best answer. I hope that helps!

    Thank you very informative video! So recession doesn’t mean a patient has bone loss?

    • @dentalhygienemadeeasy
      @dentalhygienemadeeasy  Рік тому

      That is correct! Recession could be due to many other reasons such as aggressive toothbrushing, tight mand frenum pull, etc.
