My favourite joke about this episode is the Japanese Emperor. And specifically what he calls himself. In Japan the word for Emperor is "Tenno". But he - this European man who is somehow considered a legitimate descendant of Amaterasu - calls himself "Nihon no EMPERAH". Literally translated "Japan's EMPERAH".
You should watch Cromartie High School. I think it could really fit your humor. You can watch it in Japanese, but also in English. I am normally very anti-dub, but the dub to Cromartie is great. It is like a different show. It is goofier, where the Japanese version always takes itself kinda serious.
