      very similar happened to me with my first RT experience. signed up for a nissan sentra with hertz. I get there they give me the keys to a 2019 charger RT blk/blk top package. at first I was annoyed thinking the gas would be much worse and the dodge wasn't on my radar at all. til I drove that car for about 6 weeks. the sound is best I ever heard on a car and the 5.7 is perfect power. a brilliant car and the challenger looks even better

      I don’t think this car is as slow as some people think, With the addition of a quality cold air intake, a decent set of tires and just the stock exhaust system, you can make a nice improvement in performance for a lot less money than buying a much more expensive 392 or Hellcat. A much better daily driver and 375 HP is plenty to get you in trouble with the po po !

      Totally agree. If your older Challenger is in good condition and well maintained, just spend a little money on nicing it up a bit (tasteful mods, wheels, etc.) No need to really upgrade to a whole new Challenger unless your mileage is too high. Even then I might say swap the transmission and keep rollin.

One comment on the steering wheel that no one ever mentions is the little nubs on the backside at the 4 corners that fits my hands perfectly. Question about the paddle shifters. Why would you be shifting during a turn. It was meant for straight line shifting. It you do wish to shift while turning can’t see why you can use the shifter it’s a ratchet shifter anyway... id you watch road racing. You don’t shift while your in a turn you find gear you want before the turn and let it carry you out then shift

    • @PerformanceOnWheels
      @PerformanceOnWheels  4 роки тому +3

      This is a excellent debate! Straight line driving it obviously would not matter. You get into a tight turn with varying conditions, the last thing you want to do is start guessing which direction the wheel is turned. There is a reason all race cars as well as higher end cars have them on the column and not the wheel. If a car is made to take turns, is a higher end car you will find a preference to the column every-time. You want to know where that paddle is and not have to guess. Love your comment! love that you have watched! Please subscribe! I do disagree as well, there are certain tracks and certain situations that your most efficient lap times will require in corner/mid turn shifting.

  • @travis4308
    @travis4308 3 роки тому +3

    It is not minor upgrades lol almost all of the interior was upgraded big time, the rear end lamps and stuff alone is a great reason to upgrade, the hood, the front lamps and splitter upgrade I mean the 8.4 inch u connect is another great upgrade and the transmission hands down is a great update. Def upgrade to at least a 15 ,17 is even better.

      @@PerformanceOnWheels At first, since I'm a BIG "Vanishing Point" movie fan (the original) I liked the '08-'14 better since Kowalski drove a '70. I then slowly got used to those tail lights and now prefer the overall look of the '15+. Not to mention the revised interior which better matches the exterior with its retro yet modern style.
      I just hope they'll never go with a '72+ adaptation which, IMO, were getting uglier and uglier (tail lights oooookaaaay but those facias!). But again, maybe they would be able to do some magic...

    R/T not fast? Seriously? Since when is 0-60 in UNDER 5.5 seconds not fast? Yes the Mustang's & Camaro's are faster. But those two are no longer muscle cars either. For someone who's owned a 2012 Challenger, you lost credibility from saying it isn't fast. Step up to a 6.4 you pay gas guzzler tax and more trips to the pump. You get a Mustang or Camaro and you can't take 3 friends with you.

    • @PerformanceOnWheels
      @PerformanceOnWheels  4 роки тому +2

      My opinion on "fast" is a sub four second 0-60 time. There are TONS of cars that fall into that category. "Quick" cars in my book are 4-6 second cars. Saying it is not fast is not a jab at the car. But there are obviously faster cars. If you call the Challenger fast, what do you call all the cars that are much faster? Thanks for the conversation 👍

    • @gr8cylindergr8t82
      @gr8cylindergr8t82 4 роки тому +1

      Its not fast at all, especially for 2020. Check the competition. You can get a 4 door honda accord or toyota camry with the same performance. I suggest getting the R/T for looking good and sounding good, but dont get it for the performance. 375 crankhorspower (probably 300 whp) in a 4000 lb vehicle isnt going to put you in your seat. Coming from a hellcat owner, id say at least get the scat if youre looking to go fast.

    • @Sportimus
      @Sportimus 4 роки тому +4

      @@gr8cylindergr8t82 What competition? The Challenger is the LAST true muscle car in production. The Mustang and Camaro have evolved into sports cars. They're lighter, more nimble, and are more track minded than the Challenger. The Challenger is a big, heavy, brute. It can handle but not like the others. It's a fast car. Anything that can hit 0-60 in 5.5 or less is fast. People have done it in under 5.0 seconds in their R/T's. Videos on UA-cam can prove it. It's weight fools you as it doesn't push you into your seat, but she can go. Just because some other cars, and even the SRT are faster, does NOT discount the R/T being fast. Camry? 5.8 seconds. Slower. Accord? You're comparing apples to oranges here. Accord weighs a lot less. Fast? Sure. But not the same experience as it's still a 4-door vanilla sedan.

      @@Sportimus i drove the RT its slow as fuck lol. And for the competition im talking about hondas and toyotas that are 4 doors keeping up with the RT. Youre delusional if you think a stock RT in 2020 is fast. This isnt 2005 anymore where 300 wheel horsepower is a lot weighing 4000 lbs. Dont even compare it to the mustang V8 and Camaro, the V6 would give it a run for its money. Not hating on the car just dont buy it thinking its fast. Youre gonna get smoked by a camry or even a v6 with some bolt -ons. And I know what a muscle car is I have a hellcat. Im not saying its not one what im saying is its not fast lol.
