I found super heros with Fu and the planet prison many levels above that movie. The what if stories you do are levels above this movie. I genuinely am looking forward to seeing this movie however. It is going to look great next to the live action dragonball movie in the three dollar bin.
It's kind of funny how Piccolo can leave with Pan whenever he likes, Gohan probably thinks ''mr. piccolo kidnapped me all the time and i turned out ok''
Magenta being Commander Red's son does bring up an interesting question. In the manga, it was stated that Red's short stature made it impossible for him to get a girlfriend. Are we to assume that Red, at the height of his career, actually scored? OMG I just realized something! Magenta is the combined color of red and... violet. Then that would mean... What if... Colonel Violet is Magenta's mother!
This film left me excited for the future of Pan and Piccolo. Piccolo's new form looks awesome and Pan actually WASN'T annoying. Seeing Pan wipe the floor with fully grown men was great
Super Pan is miles better than GT Pan, I hope she never becomes like GT Pan. And if anything, she being polite and well mannered makes far more sense than what she is in GT because Gohan is polite and well mannered.
While I don't hate the idea of Cell Max, I am a tad disappointed that we didn't get his usual sick charm and charisma. It would've been nice to see Cell and Gohan now as an adult interact one final time

Maybe have him sneak absorb people again, including some Z-Fighters and the Androids.
Yeah I'm torn. I'm kinda hoping Perfect Cell himself is still brought back in Super like Frieza was. He just has WAY too much charisma to let go to waste. Maybe he breaks out of Hell or shows up during a Hell arc and manages to escape? DBFZ gives us a taste of how GREAT a modern rivalry between Cell and adult Gohan could be, keeping him in check and antagonizing him like what Frieza is for Goku/Vegeta. I'm wondering where Cell could fit in the present day though... He's a bit too big of a threat to just stay hidden on earth. Maybe roaming the stars? Joins Frieza's new empire and becomes his bodyguard or something?? DBFZ also shows those two constantly trying to one up each other and remain the alpha in the situation lol. Well, I’ll be… my favorite is Marron! The daughter of two of the most sensible characters in the franchise could grow up to be the street smarts version of Bulma. Imagine, Goten in middle school trying to explain why his mother is so strict with him about learning to act normal, and before the words “Super Saiyan” can come out his mouth, Marron blows in like a breeze and says “he hit his mom with a plow, nearly broke her leg.” Now instead of being the half alien whose mother accidentally called a monster, he’s just a farmboy delinquent as far as his classmates are concerned. Just how did Marron get so… cool?! She learned quick, after years of saying the wrong things.
I don't know why but I'm tickled by the fact that Gohan's vision improves when he transforms. If only improving your vision was that easy in real life.
it's not the fandom's fault for spoilers. DBZ has been an international icon for decades now, not having a global release from the get go was a huge mistake that's been repeated again and again lately
Piccolo could say “I’m taking Pan to train in the wild for the next year” and while Videl might have concerns, Gohan would think “well I was left on my own in the wild and survived dinosaurs and training with Mr. Piccolo and I turned out alright.”
I was 16 when i found you masako & im now 27, 2 boys sprinting around the yard . idk why but its really nice ageing with a creator, usually you get 4 years or so of content then drama. But Masako always here to share our love and connect through something that effected so many across the world. While none of us will really know its other, its crazy so many people across the globe share that love at the same time you know
Japan's not really feeling this movie, so I'm pretty concerned about Gohan and Piccolo's relevancy from here on out. It would suck for them to get these massive power-ups just for things to go back to the status quo. But looking at the numbers, it would seem that Japan WANTS things to remain as the Goku and Vegeta Show.
Alas, I feel it might regress back to that. Super Hero tried to dabble with the iconography of Dragon Ball...and the numbers imply that people don't want that...despite many factors against the movie compared to Broly.
@@MasakoX In my opinion, I don't even think it's because Gohan and Piccolo were the stars, but because it wasn't 2D. If you were to look at all the trailers and promotional art, ANYONE could deduce that Gohan and Piccolo were the stars and that Goku and Vegeta wouldn't be playing a big role in the movie. Yet regardless of that, it still sold more tickets than Broly on its first day. So they CAN'T be the reason why this movie isn't doing well.
Not really but Piccolo getting 2, not 1, 2 free powerup from 1 wish and Gohan basically giving up on training and fighting, reaching his full potential. Absolute trash!!!
I just hope we get more of this. I want to see more of the other characters. Not just Goku and Vegeta. Heck Not just Gohan either. I love that Gohan is there too but need more of the other characters. So we can only hope.
@@MasakoX unfortunately so...sigh. But hey at least the fans like us will keep it alive and well. Thanks for all the lovely what ifs MaskaoX. It definitely helps me stay interested in the Dragon ball stuff. Hopefully Xenoverse 3 could give us some content of the side cast. I always did enjoy Xenoverse letting us train under those characters. I can only hope tbh.
I loved the premise behind the movie. And I think the CGI was great. But the marketing fell flat. Like you said, it was a Piccolo movie, but Toei wanted to make it seem like a Gohan movie, which was odd.
The animation is actually amazing. It reminded me of the first tine seeing battle of gods and how different the animation was from the original Z. Everything feels more alive in this movie
Yeah conflicts between Toriyama and the Toei company staff. Toriyama was clear he wanted a Piccolo movie, they wanted more of a Gohan movie. They both improvised into a Piccolo AND Gohan movie, but then they were still split on who should be the central lead. Of course Toriyama is the creator who holds the most power in his hands, so he made sure that at the end of the day, he got the Piccolo movie he truly wanted. And Gohan got to be great as the Secondary Lead pleasing the Toei Animation Staff. They worked it out together and came out with an amazing story that builds on Piccolo and Gohan Bond between Master and Disciple, and in particular they managed to make it perfectly follow up to the previous events in DB Super. This Movie is perfect Pay off to Piccolo training Gohan Pre TOP, Gohan then training with Goku and promising to reach a new form, and Piccolo and Gohan All Out Tag Team Battle against Universe 6 Namekians Saonel and Pirina. This time the roles get Reverse for Piccolo to buy Time for Gohan to Build up the Special Beam Cannon! Man I loved this movie!
It's both their movie really but Gohan got more focus in the marketing for a very simple reason: He is more popular than Piccolo generally speaking (probably the franchise's third most popular character) and he's pretty much a self generating hype machine of a character which Toei is quite aware of.
So first of all… Gohan Blanco is canon. Second of all, I liked the CGI. Yeah it’s not for everyone, but I like how it’s stylized. If you’re gonna do CGI anime it has to have its own distinct flare, something special about the art style that makes it pop. Thirdly of all, the movie was just cool as heck.
It feels like the animation was touched up after that first trailer because it definitely looks better in the final product. Or maybe my eyes just don't work anymore and i'm just seeing things.
@GrandXenoTrue No it was called Blanco fifteen years ago when the near exact design became popular via a South American artist. Though to be fair at this point white was about the only hair color that wasn't taken. Black, yellow, red, blue, pink, green, purple... maybe orange but who wants that. Too close to yellow.
I really loved this movie. It was such a breath of fresh air from the less than stellar writing for the Granolah arc. Gohan, Pan, And Piccolo are such fun characters on screen. Then to see Goten, Trunks, Krillin, and 18 show up was really nice. I loved the Gammas personalities and designs. At first regarding Cell Max I didn't like him but, the more I meditated on it, he was a deadly powerful unfinished, mindless monster. So, his swift destruction was inevitable. He was plenty creepy though, which I loved. I loved the atmosphere around him too. And the final climax of the movie was absolutely memorizing. I can't wait to see it in theaters in a few weeks!
That's why I believe a series goku and vegeta completely in the picture won't be a bad idea they'd be good as the once in a while deus ex machina to show them they still far to go cuz that's pretty much the level goku and vegeta should be on in my opinion
This is totally what I think but to me the manga seems to be becoming Toyotaro’s fan fiction with inserted points from toriyama. Super hero feels like dragon ball again.
It would be interesting to see casual fans of the anime about their take on the movie. I'm assuming most of us that browse DB content creators will support the release, but it would be interesting to see if casual fans just didn't like the CGI, RR army focused villains, goku not being a central focus, etc.
I have a friend who's a more casual DB anime fan, he was skeptical because at this point in the narrative, Goku and Vegeta are exceedingly powerful and the rest of the cast have been left behind in terms of power (especially when you consider Goku can instant transmission just about anywhere in the universe), so it was unnecessary to him. I haven't heard what he thought of it afterwards, but I digress. I feel like that's a pretty common sentiment in the casual fan discourse.
It won't make as much as Broly but unless it bombs REALLY hard it should easily be the second highest grossing DB movie ever simply because it has a wide release, actually I think it's International release is wider than Brolys (which which had much wider international releases than the super limited runs BoG and RoF had) Guessing 80-100 Mill USD by the end of it's global run vs Brolys about 120 mill. To note translated back into Yen it will look stronger than it actually did... just as how now translating it's Yen gross into USD makes it look like it's doing much worse in Japan than it actually is because the Yen is at a decades low point vs the US dollar right now.
as a casual former fan this movie reignited my love for dragon ball. Watched with some friends i used to play with in Ultimate Tenkaichi and a wek later started the saiyan saga with my gf and we're up to the cell games now lol
I feel like this movie has the most passion and ambition than any other db film or dare I say anime. I mean for starters they went full cgi for this film despite the reputation 3D has in anime and took the focus off of goku and vegeta for 90% of the movie. I don’t care if it’s not doing well in the box office this movie is fantastic.
IDK I think it is the weakest of the new era movies. Battle of Gods had a better story, Res F had better fight choreography, Broly was better at working with its characters. IMO Super Hero doesn't do anything special or exceptional in comparison to these films and I think it has to do with it being turned into a Gohan movie whenever it was supposed to be a Piccolo movie. I like the transformations but I really don't appreciate having to listen to Gohan go through the same story arc of needing to be strong for his family that he went through in the Res F saga and the TOP saga. The one thing it does well is that it shows 3D anime can look amazing.
Look, I truly appreciate all the hard work that the animators did with this and I agree it looks good but I still think 2D animation looks waaaay better. I hope this was one-time experiment and future movies (and I hope show too) will go back to Broly art style which was simply a perfect blend of Z and Super's.
I think that will probably happen after the performance in the box office. It's a clear yet sad message that this innovative art style isn't viable in terms of profit. So probably we might see a revision in approach.
@@MasakoX Will probably have to wait and see for it's international perfromance to fully judge in that capacity. The strange thing is.. Toei doesn't seem disappointed in it's performance in Japan going from their public attitude or anything we've gotten from the various insiders and leakers. Seems it was within the margins of what they expected once they lost the Holiday release + Golden Week due to the hack and release delay. If it bombs internationally that'll probably be a different story though.
I loved Krillin's original "I'm gonna protect Bulma and stay with the ship" moment, felt well in character. As did his final resolve to assist the others in battle... Krillin is great!

My one persona grievance is that despite being Cell, it doesnt feel like it is. What made Cell great, dare I say, perfect, was the witty banter and his confident personality, but we don't get that. This couldve been literally a completely original final boss and it would feel the same
I really liked gamma 2 for this reason, he was a really witty character and had a lot of cool moments. His death actually made me feel kinda sad, he really grew on me throughout the film
Stakes have been gone from Dragon Ball for decades now. I just see it for the fighting sequences and cool character interactions. @UCHkksIB-1LsFfy8vk-imE5A End of Z is pretty much non-canon at this point.
Hey masako, I'm the mixed race guy you met at sunnycon we discussed Dragonball manga, Goku black n this new movie, gave it a chance like u said n you're right, it worked n baring one or two times it didn't distract me from the movie. It worked funnily enough n was a good movie 👍🏾
Ngl the final battle of Super Hero felt to me as just “remember when Gohan went super saiyan 2 against cell?” A character Gohan cares alot for is beaten badly by Cell (16 in Z and Piccolo in the movie) heck the transformation is identical to when Gohan went super saiyan 2 with the red line behind Gohan and everything. The transformation is just Teen Gohan SSJ2 just white hair
@@MasakoX the similarities between the transformation for me is way too similar to when Gohan went SSJ2 tho. To me the final battle just felt like “hey remember the Cell saga? You liked Gohan there right?”
I find it funny that people assume all CG animation is cheaper than hand-drawn when Frozen and Tangled were two of the most expensive movies ever made, full stop. It’s only cheaper if you make it cheaper. Same with Disney 2D movies. They cut the budget for larger profits with some of their “dark age” movies, but some of their earlier movies such as Snow White and Sleeping Beauty were massive losses, despite smashing all kinds of box office records. You can make a movie as cheap or expensive as you want. It’s just all in the process.
Glad to see more fans happy that Gohan got the spotlight. Sadly it’s the complete opposite on Reddit. But anyways, thought it was okay, only gripe is I didn’t like how they handled the new Cell and Trunks and Goten.
My only real issue with this movie is Cell Max being a mindless Kaiju. I don't mind people who says it works within this movie. But I can't help but feel like it's such a wasted opportunity to bring back one of the most popular villains, especially since it's Gohan's movie so reunion, exchanges and rematch between him and Cell years after their final showdown would be so much more exciting. And it stings me even more seeing how great they've brought back Frieza. And while Frieza was Goku and Vegeta's nemesis, Cell always felt more like Gohan's.
I get what you're saying, but I feel that Cell Max would've been completely unbeatable if he were fully developed. He is tragically foisted into the world by the desperate Magenta which compromised the integrity of the beast.
Yeah it would be cool to have a good cell instead of this super hero guy maybe a 1st form red and 2nd form blue and 3rd form green cell who then combine to white cell with 3 color eyes that would be fun
@@MasakoX he was fully developed, the only thing he was lacking was the brain. Beast Gohan certainly had enough power to overcome him even with the improvements to his battle ability brought on by a working brain.
Speaking of sensus given to a yelling goat man, there was a way to do that call back in a way that made sense. Goat Wizard: "I'll be at full health as soon as I drain this whole planet's life with... my magic!" Goku: "Don't do that, here's a sensu. I'm still going to beat you you know." There. Now Goku has a GOOD reason to heal him up to full health, preventing deaths. I put two seconds of thought into that.
Gotta love how Cell MAX was a better mindless monster than prior movie villains, Hirudegarn and Broly. I know this channel *might* look down on them as flat characters, but I just find a certain charm to the mindless beast threat.
I remember Piccolo had a throw-away line while fighting the Gammas, that being "why can I see their sound effects?" Was that just a fourth wall joke, or was that explained in any way? And no, 'the Gammas want to be super heroes so that's why' does not explain it.
I absolutely loved it. The only aspect that put a tiny bit of a dampener on it for me were the exact conditions and sequence in which Gohan unlocked his Beast form. It's pretty much the exact same as when he first went SSJ2: Faced with a seemingly unbeatable Cell variant, after an android they just befriended sacrificed his life in an attempt to take him out, but failed, and using the same visuals as well. Aside from that it all fit together for me. It makes sense why they would try to make their own Cell, and Piccolo's supposedly "undeserved" form was really the best established random power-up the Super era has had to date.
Wait if shenron can't bring back machines because they don't have a soul, couldn't he just bring them back 30 minutes before they were destroyed. Like "shenron I wish for gamma 2 to be rebuilt exactly from the moment he was ready to sacrifice himself." I'm a big fan and I always wondered why this couldn't work
I’ve been spoiled, and I still cannot wait to see this for myself. It feels like the movie I have been personally wanting for years now. I really dig the 3D animation and the other characters getting much needed spotlight (my boy Piccolo!!!!) makes me so happy.
I’ve been saying it for a while that a monstrous Cell max was the best 11th hr villain they could use. If they used a character with a brain we wouldn’t of had enough time with them.
I admit, I was a little disapointed when it looked like Pan would be the damsel of this movie but seeing her faking being helpless and helping Piccolo in his plan to get Gohan's mojo back, I kinda love her even more now
I'm surprised Gohan wasn't upset with the whole situation after all was said and done. Like he wanted her to have a carefree life instead of being dragged into battles at a young age
My only complaint is Gohan did not put on the Saiyama costume for the big fight. It was right there, "super hero"," come on! Then again I'm also just a sucker for the color green
As much as I would’ve preferred Piccolo’s power up to come from Dende training to discover how to unlock the potential of a fighter, the wish being to unlock the potential as opposed to a certain other dragon just making you number one, seems alright. It only pulls the potential to the surface and the Namekian bonus coming from a dragon created by a Namekian makes sense.
This movie is really good, original I was skeptical when people said it was better than Super Broly but after watching it I can see why they said it. Honestly, my only criticism is that the Red Ribbon base and villains got destroyed. I would've loved if things were left more open-ended so there could be more. I specially like the fact that Android 21 is canon in some form.
@@jessechatmanchatman1646 In name only. In this movie they were depicted as an organization again. Which is far different from what Dr. Gero was doing with the R.R. name. Imagine how interesting a future movie would be when R.R. headed by Dr. Hado has his creations come to the rescue of the Dragon Team in a future conflict. Or the Dragon Team has to face against Dr. Hado's creations due to a difference in ideals etc. Also the R.R. base was awesome. It's a shame is nothing but a crator now.
If I could create a DB movie, it would be similar to this, but the RR army would use a device to locate the dragon balls and ask Shenron to teleport "all sayans and namekians to the fartest point in the galaxy" (because a sayan and namekian frustrated their plans this time around). And then it would be up to Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, Roshi, 17 and 18, maybe even Uub to defend their planet. Goku wouldnt be able to teleport due to the distance and the humans have their time to shine, with 17 and 18 ending for good the RR army. For fan service I would definetely have Uub training under Roshi for some time, just like kid Goku.
I had the idea that Gamma 1 asks Hedo to reintigrate Gamma 2's leftover parts into him, creating Gamma 0. It's his way of not only getting stronger, but also carrying his Brother's legacy quite literally within himself. It'd make a cool reveal at the very least, and I assume that Gamma 0 would be a Vegito-Type character. Confident, but knows when to get the job done. More jovial and conversational like Gamma 2, which retaining Gamma 1's down-to-business nature.
I really hope moving forward, we get Gohan finally finding the balance in his life between being a family man, a scientist and a warrior, especially after seeing his new beast power, if they revert him back to his old ways, I will be so pissed, I think Gohan has a lot more to add to the story of dragon ball, so hopefully they’ll take a break from Goku and Vegeta and focus an arc on Gohan, Piccolo, Goten, Trunks and Pan, it would be a refreshing direction for the story to go, I look forward to seeing Gohan train to master his new power and to hopefully see him test it against Goku, after all the last time they fought he said he wanted to find his own unique ultimate form, now he has
I think Gohan at the end of the movie, finally acknowledges this. Especially after the climax of the battle with Cell Max, he tells Piccolo that he was right about what he said.
@@windghost2 I really hope he takes it on board, because we’ve seen him acknowledge this before, but he shortly returns to the inactive fighter we’ve known him to be during most of super. Only time will tell

One of the big issues I have is Final Gohan. I felt his transformation was unearned. And I don’t like piccolo’s second design. Woulda been cooler if he look more scaly and had some dragon aesthetics. Even then I probably would’ve kept him at his first transformation, Ultimate Piccolo. And I wouldn’t let Gohan get the final win, it would’ve been a combine effort of a double Makankōsappō from Piccolo and Gohan, back to back. I also dislike Final Gohan’s design. Outside of those complaints and what I would’ve done, I do like the movie
I think I just realized something. I’m probably far off, but think about it. I know Beast Gohan or Final Gohan is probably based on the original Super Saiyan design. Hear me out, he might be based on Xicor as well. Think about it, he uses Potential Unleashed or his Ultimate form which is from the kais. Xicor is a half kai half saiyan, which Gohan is also a hybrid like Xicor. Xicor has a white hair with red eyes as well as Gohan’s new form having the same description. I doubt it, but just thought it was cool to point out.
My biggest concern for this movie is also the gap. Majority of DB fans are spoiled the plot, and some people might not want to see it because of that now. Gohan is my favorite, and I want this to do well so we can get more Gohan.
One of my only gripes with this movie was Cell Max. And I know I'm not alone in this, since from what I've seen, basically half of the fandom has beef with him too. Yes, his design was cool as Hell, but..that's pretty much all there is to him. They could've done something more. Like, maybe have him absorb the Gammas. That would've been a neat concept, and on first watching the trailer and hearing about a supposed Cell return, that was what I thought the movie was going for! Maybe after Gamma #2 sacrificed himself, Cell Max would've stood back up and absorb him. Turning into *Perfect* Cell Max. Imagine how cool that would've been?
Wait that’s not fair, there’s a high quality streaming version or is it literally a phone recording a theater screen. Cuzzz one isn’t even worth trying to watch and the other can be put on my 75 inch 4K.
I would like to see more movies focusing on the supporting cast, like a roadtrip movie with Tien, Yamcha as other characters from the og dragonball like Oolong and Puar
i've really come around on the movie after living with it for a while. i still have my qualms, but ultimately it blurs the line between the uhh... let's say freeform creativity of Super Dragon Ball Heroes, and the regular narrative structure of Dragon Ball Super. and it does that in a very enjoyable way that fans seem receptive to. this could be great for future Dragon Ball stories.

It literally is, if you go super Saiyan your vision does improve. Just power up, bro.
Are you suggesting that transforming is easy?

it's not the fandom's fault for spoilers.
While none of us will really know its other, its crazy so many people across the globe share that love at the same time you know
I have been watching dba sence episode 1. I was in high-school at the time. I'm now 30 with two kids of my own.
I agree! This was a big gamble...but the numbers will tell the cat otherwise, unfortunately. :(
@@MasakoX unfortunately so...sigh.
The CGI here is its own thing and I LOVR that, because every other CG animated movie I see is trying to rip-off Pixar.
@@SinHurr Yeah, but the name isn't Blanco anymore.
The Reason the manga was bad now (in my opinion) is to not overshine the movie. The battle seemed to drag because it was trying to.
Okay, the Visuals on Cell Max's attacks though? It looked awesome!
@@derpfluidvariant0916 especially his purple explosions.
It won't make as much as Broly but unless it bombs REALLY hard it should easily be the second highest grossing DB movie ever simply because it has a wide release, actually I think it's International release is wider than Brolys (which which had much wider international releases than the super limited runs BoG and RoF had)
Guessing 80-100 Mill USD by the end of it's global run vs Brolys about 120 mill.

What if Kami and Nail were singing a spy theme for Piccolo as he snuck into the enemy base
Most passion and ambition in all of anime you don’t watch much
IDK I think it is the weakest of the new era movies.
@@MasakoX I just hope and pray the suits don't blame the lack of The Goku Show for the box artist performance.

My one persona grievance is that despite being Cell, it doesnt feel like it is. What made Cell great, dare I say, perfect, was the witty banter and his confident personality, but we don't get that. This couldve been literally a completely original final boss and it would feel the same
I do agree. However i feel like people would have just complained that this would have been just a cheap copy.

This is just Bio Broly for a new generation
I really liked gamma 2 for this reason, he was a really witty character and had a lot of cool moments. His death actually made me feel kinda sad, he really grew on me throughout the film
My biggest problem with this movie is the fact that there are literally no stakes anymore, until they get to this point in Super.

A character Gohan cares alot for is beaten badly by Cell (16 in Z and Piccolo in the movie) heck the transformation is identical to when Gohan went super saiyan 2 with the red line behind Gohan and everything. The transformation is just Teen Gohan SSJ2 just white hair
I feel that Toriyama saw Gohan Blanco memes when they were new, forgot about them, then tried to recall them and got it half right.
@@MasakoX the similarities between the transformation for me is way too similar to when Gohan went SSJ2 tho. To me the final battle just felt like “hey remember the Cell saga? You liked Gohan there right?”
Yes and I squeed over it.
I just wanna say, i love your form of speech. It's different from other content creators.
Glad to see more fans happy that Gohan got the spotlight. Sadly it’s the complete opposite on Reddit. But anyways, thought it was okay, only gripe is I didn’t like how they handled the new Cell and Trunks and Goten.
wait where on Reddit, there's some complaints about power scaling and stuff but by and large the two main Dragon Ball subs quite liked the movie.

Goat Wizard: "I'll be at full health as soon as I drain this whole planet's life with... my magic!"

There. Now Goku has a GOOD reason to heal him up to full health, preventing deaths. I put two seconds of thought into that.
They should make a few more movies with goku, vegeta and broly in the background. Give goten and trunks a time to shine.
Dragon Ball but with modern-day teenage antics? What could possibly go wrong?
One of my online friends is skeptical about this movie but I think he should give it a chance!
Gotta love how Cell MAX was a better mindless monster than prior movie villains, Hirudegarn and Broly. I know this channel *might* look down on them as flat characters, but I just find a certain charm to the mindless beast threat.
It was great to give Gohan the spotlight again
I swear, there were bits in this movie that make me positive the writers are fans of DBZA
I remember Piccolo had a throw-away line while fighting the Gammas, that being "why can I see their sound effects?" Was that just a fourth wall joke, or was that explained in any way? And no, 'the Gammas want to be super heroes so that's why' does not explain it.
I feel like the new form for Piccolo was nice but the way he had to get it was not. I'm also not a very big fan of the design on the new Gohan form.
I am confused about the new Gohan form, but see where it was coming from. SSJ2 scaled up 50%.

The only major problem I see for the near future is that the animation company behind this film just got bought out by… Nintendo of all things.
Let's hope this the last time the same Gohan issues get rehashed.

The CGI fits the movie pretty nicely.

i've really come around on the movie after living with it for a while. i still have my qualms, but ultimately it blurs the line between the uhh... let's say freeform creativity of Super Dragon Ball Heroes, and the regular narrative structure of Dragon Ball Super. and it does that in a very enjoyable way that fans seem receptive to. this could be great for future Dragon Ball stories.
