Beautiful apartment! Looks really beautiful. I hope this begins the best chapter of your life yet.💛 It was a good experience traveling but I don't think living in your car was working for you.
Yeah, I think I could sleep in my car on short trips, but living in my car full time was just too stressful for me at this point in my life. And thank you!
I'm so sorry I missed your comment! Living in my car wasn't horrible. It was actually quite comfortable. And I think I could have taken better advantage of free overnight parking in places like National Forests if I could afford to "unplug" for a while. But in the end, I had so much work to do that I ended up spending most of my time stressing about where I was going to work and sleep every day. I would do it again if I was a little more financially secure and if I could afford to spend a little less time working and more time exploring.
Very beautiful place! Have you considered trying to keep things really minimal, just in case you want to pick up and go again? I try to keep things as minimal as possible and it really helps when I need to move.
Definitely! I don't need to buy a bunch of stuff to fill all these closets. I want to be able to get my most important stuff into my car still in case I need to evacuate from a hurricane, I hope I can still travel from here as a home base. I did have to sign a 1-year lease, though.
Some fresh scenery and a new start seem to suit you. You just look healthier and more content than your Illinois videos. Of course I still miss Scruffles 🤣🤣🤣 In all seriousness though, I feel like you made a safe decision and probably less stress overall. Of course that is my perspective of being someone that would lose my mind and what remains of my crooked spine by not having a flat bed lol. Good luck on this new chapter.
Thanks Stephanie! Yeah, worrying about where I was going to work and sleep every night was super stressing me out. I really need a home base. And Scruffles has an AMAZING home now. He's so spoiled, and he has a Husky sister and a human baby brother. I miss him, but he's better off in his new home.
Awkward Anxious Jennifer definitely a good thing for both of you. It would be so stressful for both being in transition across country. You did the right thing I think.
Awkward Anxious Jennifer life hands us challenges sometimes that would be incredibly hard with a fur baby to add to the mix. I volunteer in a shelter with people that were forced to rehome their beloved pets. They simply had to so that they could live on little and go where they could. And a million other things can pop up in life to surprise us. You had to put your own oxygen mask on first this time. We can’t judge that. It’s a life curve ball. Good for you for finding him another loving home and for taking care of you. That’s ok too.
I'm not really sure if or when I'll have time to make the drive up there. There are some things I would like to get, on the one hand, but the cost of gas and time - I don't know if it's worth it. I REALLY need to focus on my writing so I can afford the rent. So I'm not sure - I don't have a plan yet.
Hopefully I can keep paying my bills with just writing so I can pack up and head inland at the first sign of trouble! Nice to know I can stay with Mom for a while if I need to.
As far as rent, it's more expensive than Peoria, Illinois but cheaper than Denver. Gas is hovering around $1.97. Milk is more expensive here than Peoria, but seafood is cheaper. Oh, but my car and renter's insurance both doubled. However, Texas doesn't have income tax, which is nice. 🤷♀️
I’m happy for you!
Thanks! I'm excited!
i hated galveston! 😂 but i’m so glad you’re happy there. i’d visit again only for u!
Crazy how different people perceive places so differently! I might hate it when I'm melting all summer though... Only time will tell.
Congrats on the new place!
Thank you!

Love your videos! Could you sum up your car-dwelling experiences?

@@stephie640 Thank you. So many people vilify anybody who rehomes a dog. Sometimes, though, it really is the best thing for the dog.

@@AwkwardAnxiousJennifer I had to re-home my guinea pig when I got married. No one should shame you for it.
I'm glad you were able to get an apartment in a place that you like. Are you going to be able to get your stuff out of storage in Illinois?

Talk to me when hurricane season arrives. I have lots of tips.

Yeah, I would discourage you from staying.

Awkward Anxious Jennifer Gas in Seattle is around $3.70
