I just picked one of these batteries up from Amazon for $57. Seems like a good battery considering how cheap it is. It is going in my 2019 Royal Enfield Himalayan.
keep in mind those ups are usually thermally "optimized" for the battery and runtime they come with. which means they usually dislike running too long without optimized cooling.
That's a lot of potting. What if you can use this battery + a PicoPSU to power the PC directly avoiding the UPS? Sounds like a more efficient way to use it instead of stepping up the 12v to 120v and then back to 12v. Great video!
A company called Archos used to make MP3 players with large rubber bumpers on the corners. always thought it looked cool :D These days there are tiny amplifier modules with bluetooth for not a lot of cash that produce lots of useable power, maybe create a base(bass? LoL) this battery module plugs into that would make the audio for parties and jobs more fun, yet you'd keep the original functionality of a jump-starter... or just make a huge bluetooth speaker out of the thing anyway. Is it really only 4ah? seems to be a tiny rating for such a large pack.
I like that idea a lot about the corner rubber bumpers. I could make those from TPU. What a great 2000s aesthetic in that mp3 player haha And yeah it seems to be something around 4.2ah
@RinoaL yep, same brand... the gap between the gray silicon and the lid had about 3 to 4oz. Of rain water In it... Everything below the silicon looked great... it had me worried for a bet. I'll reinstall the lid now that I feel safe.
Me and Thais forgot to include the video clip of us trying to weld with it, but it wasn't worth including anyway since my inverter kept tripping.
Suggestion: Maybe add "CCA = Cold Cranking Amps" for those that didn't know somewhere. ;)
I'm fairly sure everybody knows that, plus I said it in the video if Thais didn't edit it out. My channel is a battery channel after all.
@@RinoaL I just found your channel whilst lost in a rabbit hole of youtube. Two people watching with me didn't know. ;)
do they know what V or AH are?
@@dalmatianlife yeah, none of that copper-coated aluminum rubbish!
I love these battery videos, I am learning so much! I found out 8 years ago, I can charge a moped battery with just a 12 volt AC adaptor!
Ah, the sound of silly-cone peeling off! Way better than sticky foil, haha - and quite de-pottable. Nice teardown.

A 3d printed TOMY Omnibot housing for your battery would look pretty dope.
You have taken this battery pack way to far, fun and very additive too and up points of view nice video too-DLH

Great video!
this was for a battery backup not for long term powering
It looks like if you detach the BMS and move it over to the side, it will fit in that rackmount UPS.
Yup my thoughts exactly
CCA = Cold Cranking Amps (for those that didn't know)
Does the gray material in the battery only serve to keep everything in place, or does it also have a function if the cells should fail?
Tbh I presume it just has a protective function since lifepo4 batteries dont fail like lithium-ion. They fail much more safely
Dang potting material.

I found out they were not fully sealed, as mine was full of water after a ride in the rain. It's not a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Thats a shame, mine seemed well sealed. Was yours from the same brand?
