    Thank you for sharing this. I thought my 16 month old was a bit behind with the old milestones but with the updated milestones she is right on track. :)

    Wow didn’t know she was a spokes person for CDC. I encourage parents to do your own research the real reason behind this change.

      Amen to that!! Sorry but the truth is vaccines, technology( tablets, tv, and phones!!) and all the toxicity in our foods and soils contribute to autism and developmental delays!!! Also the amount of times full time parents don’t get to spend with their kids.. the stay at home moms are the lucky ones

      I really feel it's the vaccines, look up the vaccines schedules from the beginning (early 1900s) to today. Even for my wife and I as born in the 80s, it's scary how much more junk they inject your kids with today. I hate it.

    I love what you’re doing here, you’ve taught me so much. I and my baby are forever grateful. I wish I would have found your channel sooner. May I please have a copy of the old 2004 - 216 mile stone check list. 😅

    Awesome video, Kaleigh! This is a big deal when it comes to child development and I definitely think you brought up some really good points about the shift that's going to need to occur in regards to communication between parents and medical professionals. So interested to hear about ASHA reaching out to the CDC about the inconsistencies - definitely worried about that! Overall, I hope the changes serve to get more early intervention services to those who need it, but time will tell! Well done! 👏

      @CarnahanFam  2 роки тому +1

      YES! YES! YES! You are so right! I’m interested to hear about ASHA’s resolution with the CDC too and will post an update as soon as I know more! And yes, only time will tell! The best thing we can do is keep ourselves informed and hopefully spread the word to others so they can be informed as well! Thanks for being a part of this great community! So glad to have you here! 💛

    Hi so happy to see you again thank you for the updates and info . It’s so helpful for me if you guide me on how to get my child to sit on the car seat and remain seated she hates to sit on it and it’s very hard for us during every ride make her cry but we don’t want to compromise with her safety we felt that it’s kind of forcing her to sit on it I can’t able to handle please advise me pls

    I have a question. So I have a sixteen month old little girl who would rather have me read books to her than play with toys. Is this normal? Should I limit the books I read to her? What suggestions do you have?

    • @CarnahanFam
      @CarnahanFam  2 роки тому +1

      Reading is one of the best things you can do for your kiddos 💛 My suggestion, keep reading! And you can incorporate play INTO books using nursery rhyme books and doing the hand gestures, acting out the story as you tell it (3 Little Pigs is my FAVORITE for this!) or even simply interacting WITH the pictures! We do this last one ALL of the time! Is there a cookie on the page? Great! Pretend to pick it up and take a bite! It’s such a good cookie, now you want to share with your little girl, offer her some cookie! Show HER how to participate in imaginative play and take a bite too! Smell the flowers, pet the dogs, brush her hair, there are ENDLESS ways you can play with stories! ❤️

    I sought some help for my daughter through my pediatrician. They sent out several referrals supposedly. And the place that was supposed to receive it claims that they never did receive the referral. Also I was told that my daughter couldn’t get help before age 3 because they didn’t have the resources. My daughter is going to be two years old. And she barely says dada she babbles but that’s about it.

    • @CarnahanFam
      @CarnahanFam  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Chelsey! Thanks for reaching out! I’m not sure what the timeline is that you’re looking at in regards to the referrals and follow up but in most states, a referral isn’t even required for an evaluation, so you may not even need it! Also, in regards to your daughter getting help before the age of 3, if you are in the US, what you were told is absolutely not true and likely illegal.
      To make a long, legal story short, there is a law IDEA (Individuals with Disability Education Act) that protects individuals from birth to age 21 and their right to receive a free and appropriate public education (and early intervention services). If a state ACCEPTS the federal funding to support these programs, they are agreeing, “as a condition for the receipt of such funds, the provision of a free appropriate public education (FAPE) (i.e., specially designed instruction provided at no cost to parents that meets the needs of a child with a disability) and an accessible early intervention system (a statewide system to provide and coordinate early intervention services for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families).” IDEA also requires families receive the following services at no cost:
      1) A simple evaluation to see whether a full evaluation is needed and
      2) Comprehensive developmental testing to see whether a child needs early intervention services
      So if your daughter hasn’t been evaluated, definitely be her advocate and make sure to get it for her because she (and you) are entitled to it by law! If by chance she has been evaluated and she doesn’t qualify, I’m sad to say sometimes that is the reality! 😔 But there are LOTS of AMAZING speech language pathologists who have VERY informational Instagram pages and of course, you can always request a reevaluation. You’re fighting a worthy fight Mama! It’s not an easy road but 1000% WORTH IT for your daughter! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

      @@CarnahanFam we live in Arizona, they have not evaluated her. When I spoke to the speech therapy office manager lady. She advised me that even if they were to get a referral from my pediatrician like they were supposed to but never did, they do not have someone who is on a qualified level for children under age 3 that can see her. We have an appointment soon with the pediatrician. I will seek more help and also probably a new pediatrician.
