impatience is my only weakness.... thanks for what youre doing..... many of us have it difficult to aire and this Project is perfect.. working on a ra29.myself.... once again thank you
No AC. After being caught in hot summer/spring rains with no AC, I've always reconsidered that idea. I admire your commitment to weight savings. Also, disco interlude is the best EVAR!!
We saved about 40 lbs and freed up a horsepower or two, but it's really just a case of wanting to simplify the setup as much as possible rather than chasing weight savings or a reduction in parasitic losses.
omfg do you know how long my bf has been waiting for this shit?! thank you for making it so i can stop hearing about you "neglecting the celica project for a shit s2000"
That's awesome that you actually went on your own acc. Found this vid and left a comment about your bf... He must have really wanted to see this build. I know my gf has heard about it too, I hate it when a channel gets ya excited for something and leaves ya with the car guy equivalent of blue balls. Lol. You must be a pretty attentive girlfriend to know what he was goin on about cause I know my gf wouldn't even know it had to do with cars. Good on ya Hun!
+fuckery abounds That's a shame. Girls gotta get her hands dirty sometimes! ;) We work on heaps of projects together, tbh I was following the build too but he was the one hanging hard for it.
That sounds AMAZING your bf is a lucky man. I would give anything for my gf to have a genuine interest in my projects, I mean she listens but you know her heart isn't there. What would you charge for gf training? Lol
I love the thought of this motor going in there. I first heard about it in my book "Toyota MR2 performance" a friend bought me. It seems like a somewhat "exotic" Japanese motor and I love that.
Being waiting for this episode for a looooooooong time.Nice to see the Toyota build is moving forward(Toyotaku in case my picture didn't give it away haha). This is gonna be a helluva car!Good job guys :)
Killer vid! You definitely need mo' moose on your channel! Not to mention more Canadian ape transmission break dancing! It's also nice to see the celly gettin some love again. I was super cereally stoked when you guyses announced this build but took fo' evah gettin to it. Looking forward to more, great job guise!
Can you do a separate video on: What rack and pinion you used and what adjustments/checks/dimensions you employed to avoid bumpsteer and other steering issues? What are the steps on installing the fortune auto rear coilovers and any body reinforcement needed and the spring or shock locations?
Man, Moose seems like such a fucking cool guy. He's really well spoken and seems like he has a great sense of humor. I love all of the Speed Academy videos, but the Celica Project videos are extra cool because of the Moose.
Disco/funk/soul is such a refreshing change of pace (and way better music), compared to 99% of other car/gear-head videos that always use lame rock&roll, annoying trap/dubstep, mainstream rap, emo, edm, etc.
probably too late but on toymods.org.au you'll find folks tend to use a shortened KE70 cross member and modify the mount plates. gives you RnP steering plus clears the sump.
Hah, if we lived in South Florida the A/C would definitely have stayed! Up here it's really not something we'd use much in a car like this, so figured we might as well ditch it.
Did you guys get around to weighing the skanky sound deadening shit? Someone had put a layer of aftermarket sound deadening on top of the factory stuff on my ra23, so double the fun. Keep em coming boys, really great vids. Many thanks
WD (water displacement)40 isnt a penetrating oil, they do as a company make an actual penetrating oil if you want to use the actual stuff for the job in the future moose.
LOL don't need A/C for the weak! TOO funny. I know where I live now in South Carolina we say the same! Lived in Barrie, ON for a few years and opening the window is enough A/C for me >.
So I got my Blitz supercharger hook up right now, only major issue that I have since it forced induction is the coil packs. I blown out 2 within the last week, well my option is an upgrade. One thing came to my mind is a LS2 truck coil pack setup, so far everything should be a plug in and play with minor wiring, thinking of using capacitors to maintain constant power. Any thoughts?
We've only heard great things about LS coil packs so they're certainly worth the try. AEM also makes some coils and we used them on our Porsche 930 build (You can watch the series to see them) and they are compact and support high HP. Good luck!
I’m surprised you wouldn’t push the motor all the way back to the firewall for better weight transfer on the rear wheels. Those front tires on that car are pretty far rearward and the motor is past the centerline of the front suspension
There are washers, we were just testing fitting quick and dirty style. We'll getter all washered up once we have the trans mount sorted and the whole thing is ready to be torqued in place.
For many cars, power steering is nice to have, but when dealing with a car that will not be doing much slow speed maneuvering (i.e. parallel parking), it's not as big of an issue. Especially for really light cars, like pretty much every stripped out race vehicle ever. I sure as hell wouldn't delete power steering on a cargo van, but on an old celica, sure, why the hell not.
i had a 1500kg battle tank c32 laurel rd28 diesel woth no powersteering sitting on 17x9 volks was easy to drive powersteering is only good at a stand still when driving is fine
I want power steering in my race car, because it's much less fatiguing over the course of multiple sessions. It's also much easier to recover from a slide; you can spin the wheel much faster when the car snaps back and you need to unwind a bunch of steering lock to not shoot off in the other direction.
+David Pratte isnt that gun rated to 1100 nut busting torque? ive been on the fence on getting it. have you ever sheared a bolt head or but off with it? would you say its worth it for a diyselfer?
+David Pratte isnt that gun rated to 1100 nut busting ftlbs of torque? ive been on the fence about getting it. have you ever sheared a bolt head off or a nut off? would you say that its worth for a diyselfer?
it's no copyright music from UA-cam's library and the artist didn't request/require a note in the description, but the song is called "Don't Hate Me" by Jingle Punks.
WD40 is your basic inexpensive lube/penetrant and it has its place in the shop ... My Personal Fav penetrant is Zep45. The Wurth Products rock but are harder to source
Fits the theme of the build, putting modern running gear in a vintage chassis (Resto-mod) Motor is cool, different, and not very common this side of the pond NA motor for a car that was NA Motor and 6 speed tranny is cheap relative to other options - and makes more than enough power for a fairly light car
can someone tell me more about this engine? it looks like an straight four. and it is from toyota. is it competitive with the nissan sr20 engine? why did they use this specific engine?
i'm sorry i just watched the second episode where you pick up the engine. so i got my answers haha :) im new to the channel but awesome videos man. i didn't hesitate to sub haha
Lmao that's rough, but probably true seeing as how he's a videographer that has issues recording sound. It's probably best to keep him busy elsewhere... Lol (adult ADHD is a bitch lol)
Speed Academy you just mentioned it in the video is all haha. thinking itbs or some such? they sound pretty damn good on a 3sge, guy where I live has a nice setup in his ke70 corolla www.themotorhood.com/themotorhood/2015/10/9/retro-runner-screaming-beams-powered-ke70
Nah, that's way more bad ass. They fabricated a whole car from scratch in sheet metal, pretty much. I would hate to think what would happen if project binky were to be crashed.
we love Project Binky. That build is incredible and at a level that's way beyond what we're doing here. Nothing but respect for the Bad Obsession boys!
Dave, nice moves. Keep it up. Proud of you.
Nice reference
Lol thanks!
impatience is my only weakness.... thanks for what youre doing..... many of us have it difficult to aire and this Project is perfect.. working on a ra29.myself.... once again thank you
I know you guys have so many other projects for this channel. But this build is by far my favourite one. I can not wait for this car to be done!
The Moose is loose! Love this series.
THE PRODUCTION QUALITY OF THIS VID IS A1~!
Editing is getting a bit crazy on this channel i love it
No AC. After being caught in hot summer/spring rains with no AC, I've always reconsidered that idea.
I admire your commitment to weight savings.
Also, disco interlude is the best EVAR!!
think it kinda silly, how much power and weight is really being saved versus the convenience.
We saved about 40 lbs and freed up a horsepower or two, but it's really just a case of wanting to simplify the setup as much as possible rather than chasing weight savings or a reduction in parasitic losses.
Yay! been hanging out for this :D
I live for the disco interludes.
God I love this channel don't ever stop
omfg do you know how long my bf has been waiting for this shit?! thank you for making it so i can stop hearing about you "neglecting the celica project for a shit s2000"

I need to acquire myself a Moose. Haha hey guys, love that you're bringing back a classic RA24. First car love right here.
We all need a Moose haha! He's the greatest when it comes to doing work that I don't want to do.
+Speed Academy step by step for the install and wiring for the BEAMs
+Bushwookie NW please
Those clips you added were hilarious lmao!!! Nice finally meeting you at the track yesterday. Hope to see you again soon!
Nice meeting you too!
Being waiting for this episode for a looooooooong time.Nice to see the Toyota build is moving forward(Toyotaku in case my picture didn't give it away haha). This is gonna be a helluva car!Good job guys :)

Loving the Celica build videos! Keep 'em coming.
Like it, looking forward to the next video. I'm waiting for my Blitz supercharger to be shipped for my Altezza build gotta love the Breams.
The Blitz kit is definitely on Dave's radar as a future addition to the build. Let us know how yours works out!
+Speed Academy I sure will
My fav build so far i think ! Good Job :)
Such a cool project, looking forward to seeing it come together. Keep up the awesome work!
one of your better videos
Can you do a separate video on: What rack and pinion you used and what adjustments/checks/dimensions you employed to avoid bumpsteer and other steering issues? What are the steps on installing the fortune auto rear coilovers and any body reinforcement needed and the spring or shock locations?
I was going to put the 3SGTE in my Toyota G-Touring Corolla but I picked a 4AGE 20V silvertop cause it suited my plans down the road better.
can't get enough of this project dave!
Man, Moose seems like such a fucking cool guy. He's really well spoken and seems like he has a great sense of humor. I love all of the Speed Academy videos, but the Celica Project videos are extra cool because of the Moose.
The Moose is like a level up for all our videos!
Really enjoyed that video edit. I know you had Mic issues. But it defo broke up the video and made it feel like it was over in a couple of minutes.
Left us wanting more!
still my favorite channl keep it up guys !
love the editing in this episode! keep up the good work !
I walked away from my TV for a minute, and when I turned back around, there was a digital gorilla dancing on the screen.
pretty sure that's an Orangutan
new videos every week? the last one was 2 months ago, you owe us more.
Hah, well we are working on the Celica tomorrow, so hopefully the next episode won't be too long a wait.
Disco/funk/soul is such a refreshing change of pace (and way better music), compared to 99% of other car/gear-head videos that always use lame rock&roll, annoying trap/dubstep, mainstream rap, emo, edm, etc.
Agreed. Not my thing, but here? It worked. A refreshing change indeed.
Been waiting for this! :D
9:07 looks like there are some new rims back there in those 4 cardboard boxes. JAPAN POWER
I think it was more sporting with the other engine hoist that slowly lowered itself.
Love this build. More Moose!!!
that's probably a silly detail but you guys will paint the engine? btw the editing is better and better hahaha love it!
I think we will probably paint the block so it looks fresh.
David Pratte nice! good luck :D
probably too late but on toymods.org.au you'll find folks tend to use a shortened KE70 cross member and modify the mount plates. gives you RnP steering plus clears the sump.
LOL Moose has permanent crazy eyes.
you can't look him in the eye too long are you start to go insane ;)
When you work with Dave you have permanent crazy eyes : )
Y'all are honestly the Canadian Mighty Car Mods. I just wish you had more interesting accents.
Dave will do the next episode in a thick French Canadian accent, we promise ;)
Speed Academy Yayyy!!!
Ahhh tabernac! Zut Alor! Et c'est parti!
where did you guys get the harness from, doing the same project. any infor would help
We'll cover it off in a future episode. The stock harness came with the engine FYI
Loving it, keep it up
come spend some time in South Florida with me this summer then tell me about deleting ac:)
Hah, if we lived in South Florida the A/C would definitely have stayed! Up here it's really not something we'd use much in a car like this, so figured we might as well ditch it.
Lol agreed.I live in Greece and temperatures in summer can get well over 100F but I don't have an A/C.MAaaaaaan it's a pain in the ass!
Did you guys get around to weighing the skanky sound deadening shit? Someone had put a layer of aftermarket sound deadening on top of the factory stuff on my ra23, so double the fun. Keep em coming boys, really great vids. Many thanks
Just Shy of 40 lbs of sound deadening came out.
been fucking waiting! I want more now
Patience ...we get the episodes up as fast as we can ... lots of projects on the go + work and life seem to interfere with our fun
Moose knuckle 👍🏻
missing 4 cylinders...jk, it's going to be dope. take care!
I'm planning a beams swap on my 91 toyota pickup I live in the gta and would love to stop by your guys shop get some info/motivation haha
Do you have a link for the engine and transmission crossmembers and mounts? There is nothing listed on their website
Do you have a date for the next video?
I LOVE BEAMS :D
I like those socket racks, whered u get them ?
Hey you guys selling the power steering and a/c components? Im interested
Im doing the same swap. How did you guys go around sway bar and steering linkage?
I kinda wish I lived in a place were AC wasn't needed. In this stupid desert people get heat stroke sitting at traffic lights.
I'd rather live in a place where cars won't rust as easily as it does up there in Canada.
True, in the desert its sun rot not rust that's the issue.
Please tell me from which machines have taken the Steering rail and the beam?
WD (water displacement)40 isnt a penetrating oil, they do as a company make an actual penetrating oil if you want to use the actual stuff for the job in the future moose.
What gun is that you were using at 0:23?
but that disco yo.... its just pop'n!
is there any way we can order those mounts ?
Is there a part 2
Probably shoulda fitted it before powder coating. Compromised when you slotted the holes.
It is much easier working on a motor when it is outside on the car.
Sweet!
LOL don't need A/C for the weak! TOO funny. I know where I live now in South Carolina we say the same! Lived in Barrie, ON for a few years and opening the window is enough A/C for me >.
what are NOT cleaning and painting???
So I got my Blitz supercharger hook up right now, only major issue that I have since it forced induction is the coil packs. I blown out 2 within the last week, well my option is an upgrade. that interlude though! 😅
Could you use that exhaust manifold for a twin scroll turbo?
Not without modifying it quite a bit. Probably better off fabricating a simple log manifold for a turbo setup.
is that motor from alteeza RS200
yessir
No washers used for those motor mounts?
There are washers, we were just testing fitting quick and dirty style. We'll getter all washered up once we have the trans mount sorted and the whole thing is ready to be torqued in place.
Ok cool. Great video as usual!
Dave im want to maje the beam work on my 1994 toyota camry is it worth it pls let me know it will realy help my 5sfe is dead so lets see
Do you need a custom driveshaft and engine mounts for this? I have a '78 that i'm looking to swap a 3sge into
Yes to both
+Speed Academy Ok, thank you
I can't decide if it's editing or if the moose just moves really fast.
Haha, bit of both!
Do ppl regret deleting power steering ,i feel i would
I never looked back since. But it is project/purpose relevant.
It all depends on the car and the application.
i had a 1500kg battle tank c32 laurel rd28 diesel woth no powersteering sitting on 17x9 volks was easy to drive powersteering is only good at a stand still when driving is fine

what part of canada are you guys from ?
Toronto Area
Hey, just wondering the make and model of that impact gun you have there.
Thanks
Milwaukee 2763-22
+David Pratte isnt that gun rated to 1100 nut busting torque? ive been on the fence on getting it. have you ever sheared a bolt head or but off with it? would you say its worth it for a diyselfer?
+David Pratte isnt that gun rated to 1100 nut busting ftlbs of torque? ive been on the fence about getting it. have you ever sheared a bolt head off or a nut off? would you say that its worth for a diyselfer?
Moose's gun is the older version but we haven't had any issues sheering off bolt heads or anything like that.
The Torque Builds as you keep the finger on the trigger. You use restraint and common sense like you would with a big-ass breaker bar.
What box is that?
Why you no feature music artist in description?
it's no copyright music from UA-cam's library and the artist didn't request/require a note in the description, but the song is called "Don't Hate Me" by Jingle Punks.
How good is WD 40
not as good as Astroglide, even though my grandpa swore by it.
Pretty shit. Plusgas is superior penetrator!
+mcspikesky well I actually prefer Wurth Rost off but not many are aware of it but anyway. ..
WD40 is your basic inexpensive lube/penetrant and it has its place in the shop ... My Personal Fav penetrant is Zep45. The Wurth Products rock but are harder to source
just asking,why this particular motor?
Fits the theme of the build, putting modern running gear in a vintage chassis (Resto-mod)
Motor is cool, different, and not very common this side of the pond
NA motor for a car that was NA
Motor and 6 speed tranny is cheap relative to other options - and makes more than enough power for a fairly light car
What does Moose drive? Track day car? Drifter? Show car?
The "Fun" vehicles are a 94 BMW M3 Euro Spec or a VFR800
so fucking rad man
where that gearbox is from ?
It came with our 3SGE
LOL... long tube BEAMs all up in Connie Celica...
What is the music used in this video?
Dont Hate Me - Jingle Punks
+Kevin H Tyvm
+Kevin H legendary. Didn't even haveta shazam it
can someone tell me more about this engine? it looks like an straight four. and it is from toyota. is it competitive with the nissan sr20 engine? why did they use this specific engine?
i'm sorry i just watched the second episode where you pick up the engine. so i got my answers haha :) im new to the channel but awesome videos man. i didn't hesitate to sub haha
SR20? The SR20VE? :) The 3SGE is probably a better engine I think (runs away from Nissan fanatics....)
You guys should really invest in Tripod so Dave can actually do something.
It is Safer with Dave behind the Camera (Most of the Time) : )
Lmao that's rough, but probably true seeing as how he's a videographer that has issues recording sound. It's probably best to keep him busy elsewhere... Lol (adult ADHD is a bitch lol)
7:08 Do I spy a F4i?
VFR800
Is moose a mechanic. ..?
Pretty neat swap but the Beams isnt that powerful to be honest. Would prefer sr20det or honda k series
-33 pounds of AC
+2 pure bread Canadians
Build a stepped header Dave...
We're going to build a longtube header for it with turn-up primaries for vintage sexiness.
shot moose is a gun
wiring please!!!!!!!!thank you
Patience haha, that will come in a future video.
if you guys were thinking about forced induction you realy should have sourced a 3sgte engine instead :P
No forced induction, NA is best for the Celica :)
Speed Academy you just mentioned it in the video is all haha. thinking itbs or some such? they sound pretty damn good on a 3sge, guy where I live has a nice setup in his ke70 corolla www.themotorhood.com/themotorhood/2015/10/9/retro-runner-screaming-beams-powered-ke70
wow enough space for twin 88mm 😂😂
Dat lube vid tho
This episode reminds me of project pinky from bad obsession motorsport youtube channel. You should check it up. ;)
Nah, that's way more bad ass. They fabricated a whole car from scratch in sheet metal, pretty much. I would hate to think what would happen if project binky were to be crashed.
I mean that video(disco part is like funk in pinky):)
we love Project Binky. That build is incredible and at a level that's way beyond what we're doing here. Nothing but respect for the Bad Obsession boys!
It's time to get the FUNK out!
I'd take the 30lb weight penalty to have A/C in California lol
Where is the evo VIII?
episode coming soon
+David Pratte thanks man!
who cares celica is finally here!
who cares celica is finally here!
