@@cloudseer that's a great comparison! I have a tracker (dirtywave m8) and my experience there definitely helped me understand how the per-step automation works on this
@@HellcatTheSavage thanks! Yes you can, but the roll notes behave a little strange when it comes to velocity. Basically you have to adjust the pressure parameter to make the note louder or quieter
thanks for the video. I have some questions please: is it possible to use the 12xt as volca or elektron workflow for evolving tracks, i mean, could you record modulations on the fly (realtime rec) and then return back to the original sounds, without stoping the machine? Other question: wich one is the sampling time limit (when sampling directly on the 12xt)? thanks
@@marioaloe3628 hi! Thank you for explaining that- you can record automation in real time by pressing the record button and then adjusting any of the parameters as the pattern plays. But there is not an easy way to toggle the automation on and off as the pattern is playing. The best way is probably to have two patterns, one with the automation and one without. And the maximum sample time is 40 seconds
@@Jay_Maculate hi again, i've found that at page 102 of the manual rev3:"Notes and parameter lock data on a track can be cleared all at once by pressing clr etc"; is this possible while the sequence is playing? other thing: have you have to stop the sequencer when you want to record changes to a pattern? Many thanks again
@@marioaloe3628 hey, welcome back! i just tested it and yes, you can clear all parameter lock / automation data on a track while the sequencer is player by holding the CLR buton and pressing the track's pad, then selection the "LCK" option. it doesn't pause playback, but keep in mind there is also not a way to undo clearing the data. and no, you dont need to stop the sequencer to record changes - if you have the record button toggled on, then changes that you make while the sequencer is playing will be saved (the manual calls this 'real-time input' or 'real-time recording'). Hope that helps!

Jay that was SO HELPFUL!! You've explained that so well and I'm way more excited to play with P Locks now!

Great tutorial. I learned a lot. Thank you!!
@@sierragold thanks for watching, glad it was helpful!
EXCELLENT, I know some people I could put in parameter lock…
And now I’ll be able to do it!!!

@@EverettVinzant thanks! Parameter locking is a lot of fun on this device!
It seems this device is a tracker under the hood as it behaves very similarly with similar quirks. Perfect.
As in each parameter is an instruction that plays at the step of the sequence.

Good video! Can you adjust the vol/velocity of the root note of a roll (5 pad in your video) it only lets me adjust the roll notes?
