I wasn't sold on it at first, but after hearing how well you've presented it, I think I'll give Rivals of Aether a try. It seems like it'll be an interesting game.
Im glad that this video is picking up traction, as a smash player myself, this info was invaluable. Can't wait for subsequent parts. Particularly the character overview. Since smash characters typically keep similar move sets when moving titles, i know what to expect. With a cast of deep characters like this, knowing how each should play is amazing info.
I was looking into this because I love Melee and this game seems like a fresh take on that concept, and it took me a while watching this video to realise you had very little subscribers. You deserve way more going by the quality of this vid
Super super good video. Definitely the one I’ll be sharing around for new players. Also, I don’t think I’ve ever listened to the outro song all the way, I could have sworn that was a remix lol
Smash ultimate is my favorite game of all time so a platform fighter needs to do a lot to stand toe to toe with it. That being said Rivals of Aether easily does so. I’m so glad that this game has gained some serious traction especially with the newly released workshop characters for those without steam.
8:04 damn, a video about Rivals with Spark the Electric Jester music? The culture on this man is off the charts, god damn (Edit) also, really fucking solid video. Can’t wait for the coming parts!
I genuinely assumed you were an established large Rivals UA-camr, I did not expect to see that this is your first hit of a video, very happy to see creators get their chance to shine, incredibly well done video man, can't wait for the rest of them!
Using this to remind me of things I most likely forgot about. Started playing more consistently a week ago to prepare for DE. Thanks so much. This was presented very clear and concisely.
Yo good video dude! Even though I already play the game the video was just really good and keep up the work!!! This can help so many new players coming into the game
Thanks so much. I’ve super excited for rivals competitively. I haven’t done super well in smash and I’m excited to practice this game and this will help a lot
I can't wait for all the new rivals content that will be posted to TouTube. No longer will I have character guides that are over 2 years old at the earliest.
There should've been a tiny textbox in the corner when you showed tempest that said "Not this one." Loved the video, incredibly well produced and edited
I was putting much effort into getting good at smash bros but never really took off with all the mechanics but in rivals all my tactics just work so much better! The gravity seems to be a little higher in this game aswell and there are no ledges. That helps me so, so much. I think the rivals gameplay just feels a lot better aswell!
I love Smash for what it is. A Casual Party game that is also an Hommage to Video Game History. But after trying to play Smash competitively (Sm4sh, Project M and Melee and failing miserably), I can say that Rivals Of Aether knows what it does and it does it very well. Bought it on Steam and on Switch. Let Smash do what it does best. Be Casual and fun. Rivals is the way to go for Competitive play.
So, Long Comment ahead (Apologies) as i now just finished this video, to put my own thoughts and experiences here since it made me think and realize a lot: I got and played RoA: Definitive Edition Day One, I recall at first being anxious and almost skeptical that this game wasnt gonna be meant for me, its very hard for me to try new things that already have a large following, due to fear of success and jealousy that they have and I simply dont (This stems from my own personal issues and abuse ive endured, that i still try to improve daily) and that i would just see it as another “Smash Clone”, especially given the biggest outside supporters of the game are Smash Bros Melee Fans and Pro competitors, And as you (sawtooth) pointed out, Melee isnt the game for everyone nor every competitor, like myself, honestly and personally (In My opinion) While I respect melee for what it is, does, and brought to the table, both for smash bros and fighting games in general, i do believe the game is outdated and overrated, yes, i know that doesn't break a game, but i feel in melee’s case it’s constantly overpushed as a “legendary game” by its fans, some who literally deny for something “past” it and to move forward, rather just wanna stay in place with it, and hey, you do you, thats fine and dandy if you’re happy, just dont be disrespectful and asshole-ish about it (like comparing melee to smash 4/ultimate unfairly) Anyways, i played Aether day one with my Dear friend and i was overall extremely impressed and more relieved, It actually and genuinely feels like a Smash Based/Inspired Game, not a clone, and while a lot of changes im still getting used to and have different opinions about (I personally feel grabs would’ve been nice but oh well) Its been pretty great and fun, Im already working on Maining Elliana And Sylvanos so far, and I definitely do plan on playing more I can see why many people love and are so passionate about the game and why the community, while small, is as strong as Smash bros community, and I respect that, i hope this game continues to grow and reach higher places, i will definitely recommend it to others, along with this video, Amazing work Sawtooth, The Editing And Explanations were great and easy to understand, with enough in-depth info to learn and explore, Im glad i used my time to watch it, I apologize again if this long comment is unusual and weird, but i hope giving my part brings more encouragement since it really helped me, with how already clueless and stubborn i am, and as a big smash ultimate player, You Got My Like and Subscription, Cant wait for Part 2, Stay Safe and Awesome
I feel like this game will be great for the smash veterans who are looking for something new, but I will stay with smash because I really kind of just started with smash4 in 2018 and im now playing ultimate
what is rivals? its a great couch party game that also has an online mode that is unplayable. covid has murdered so many great multiplayer games like this one
Unfortunately I don't agree with your stance on Rivals accessability. As a new player, I stopped playing after just a couple of matches online. Since the playerbase is small (might get bigger now) almost every single player that goes online is really, really, REALLY good. You just get utterly stomped, and it's just not fun. While it's easier to learn different techniques than Melee for example, it was impossible for me to even try to implement those in actual gameplay since I could barely get a single move in at all.
I got high, because I got a 85% on my food safe exam only 5 questions wrong, soo what Is Rivals of Aether, on steam workshop it is the greatest roster of a crossover fighting game of all time, however the community is primarily toxic, I've had multiple conversations with people who say "mmmm doesn't matter I want the artstyle to match the Rivals style its annoying to my eyes and garbage if it isn't.." they call people's work which is updated again and again as mixel garbage and openly mock it, they don't care for the creators sprite style the work they put into there characters, if it's ripped sprites, if it doesn't match the rosters art style, if the character is based on any other pixel art style other then the base rosters, they say it's garbage and that couldn't be further from the truth, you can have up to 999 characters and there all actually interesting and polished and people should be considerate and thankful but instead they insult the artists mock them and say not good enough lol... around 20 characters per series, the truth is the leaders of the community aren't good people, they value who is in there click and likes there style of pixel art and openly mocks and blacklists anyone who doesn't calling them the problem, this goes alot deeper then just that one community when you realise they are also primarily members of the game banana community, if you want the best that roa steam workshop has to offer, check out the collections by the user Beardedyeti13 in the future 999 of the actually best characters on the workshop and being organised to load in by series
- Its not up to the level of slippy whit its fancy new rollback Weellllllllllllllllllllllllllll, its gonna be on rollback, in about 2 and a half months
I like how there is a little of every character on the leaderboard at 11:04 and then there's just Cakeassault chilling at the top with forsburn.
This video genuinely is so professionally made, I can't believe how well you executed this
Jesus, man, this is FANTASTIC! This series looks VERY promising, so I'm hitting that bell button!
I wasn't sold on it at first, but after hearing how well you've presented it, I think I'll give Rivals of Aether a try. It seems like it'll be an interesting game.
LIKED COMMENTED AND SUBSCRIBED!
Idem
yeah same.
This is really good and professionally done!
8:07 i love that you used this song in the background because spark the electric jester 1 is my all time favorite game overall
what a nice video, i really hope that anyone that is interested in the game and comes from smash watched this
Im glad that this video is picking up traction, as a smash player myself, this info was invaluable. Can't wait for subsequent parts. Particularly the character overview. New to FGC and was looking for a game to jump in, this video made me buy the game and try it out. Let see where this journey takes me.
I can't WAIT for the rest of these videos! Can't wait to share them with my friends!
I'd love to see deeper tutorials on each character one day too!
I had no idea u had this in you Sawtooth! This is excellent!
This is really well done thanks for this series for someone who wants to get into rivals

Amazing work, very well done. Thank you!
Using this to remind me of things I most likely forgot about. Started playing more consistently a week ago to prepare for DE. Thanks so much. This was presented very clear and concisely.
You probably already know this, but for any new players looking at the comment section: Rivals has Rollback netcode.

Thanks so much. I’ve super excited for rivals competitively. I haven’t done super well in smash and I’m excited to practice this game and this will help a lot

I've noticed that out of every character Zeterburn is the easiest one to start out as, pretty much the kirby of aethers to me
Except zetter is good
Good video, when’s the next part?
As of right now, my ETA is within the next 1.5-2 weeks. Follow me on Twitter to get updates on how it's going!
Sawtooth sounds good
Why is the player count so low on steam? Especially oce... cant find a game under 100ping
I know i hope they add cross-play one day

You have way too few subscribers for this youtube video quality. So ill add one to the pile C:
it takes so long to get into a pvp match
Have some more viewer interaction, my dude.
