  • Whats up everybody! Here's a video on a minor and completely UN-Scientific experiment done by me in order to assess the "SAFETY" of the Radian Talon safety selector switch as it pertains to the fitment on "My" AR Pistol. You be the judge...Please share your opinions with me in the comments. If you own this product as well I highly recommend you do some evaluations of your own, before you trust your life to this product.

      @@pope_pius_x6169 if your not military or law enforcement this won’t effect you. Those are positive switches and it locks into safe. If you buy a Radian 45/90 safety, and you look at how it is machined on both sides, you realize that it is the same amount of "safety." Also consider this: How many other weapons do you own that have a 90-degree safety?

  • @opmike343
    @opmike343 4 роки тому +3

    THIS is why it's important to do a proper function test. This isn't the first rifle that will fire with a short throw safety, and there's more out there that haven't properly been tested. Makes me just want to stick with a 90 degree throw as it's hard to determine how these things will behave once you get some wear, tear, and grime on the parts long term.

    • @gutzngunz1897
      @gutzngunz1897  4 роки тому +5

      opmike343 Its worth mentioning just as Garand Daddy explained, experiences vary based on tolerance stacking, proper installation, hard use and many other variables🤷🏽‍♂️. For whatever it’s worth...I moved this exact safety assembly to an Aero M4E1 lower and am experiencing a much better operation. A more positive safety engagement, much less wiggle in the safety, and virtually no negligent engagements or dis engagements I should say.

    This has been a known issue with 45’s for years. I love the idea but it just doesn’t work well with the AR15. The noveske STS was the best design for a safety on an AR ever. It was a 60 degree safety. It’s not well known and they didn’t make for long. I wish they would start making it again.

    Ngl I recently built an Ar from scratch minus the AX556 lower radian offers. After putting their safety in with a Elftmann match Trigger and an Aero Stripped upper with KNS anti rotation tabs that I had to grind and slightly bend in order for it to fit over the machining around the Bolt Release catch on the right side. After following Elftmann's trigger installation manual I found that 1/3 pulls on safe it would light fire. I assumed the trigger set screws weren't set hard enough. Went to the range and sure enough it fired single shot which indicated that it wasn't set right. So I cranked them down as hard as I could..to no avail.... however I watched a video before yours and haven't seen that grand thumb video or just don't remember him saying that.....
    TLDR I never guessed to back off on the set screws which might of fixed my problem before I ordered another $170 trigger after buying this $250 one..... time to experiment at the range and kick brass again

    45° radian is absolutely safe especially if it’s in radian lower but they’re in OEM manufacture of their charging handles and talent safety is they are very very safe in my opinion and I have use the M-16 for A.R. 15 tape platform since 2008 and by now so many companies use their safeties and jersey handles like their industry standard and they are very very safe I have never had an issue as long as you are not a moron and know how to put on a safety selector and properly make sure the detent and spring are tight inside the pistol grip your gun will have zero issues and if you have an ad a spec A.R. 15 why even have it it’s too much trouble to get parts that most likely will not fit anyway you might be able to get some parts to fit but your trigger pins could walk out and he’s talking about shitty shitty lowers that aren’t any good to wear the holes that were cut in the forged receiver set or billet receiver are not the right size that’s way different story then is the Radian on ssafe no it’s called a shitty lower is the problem not the safety and grip which is needed to install your safety if you have a shitty D10 spring or a vent line you could have issues but I’ve even had vent springs and it it is flawless it’s very positive tactile snap at 45 I use 90 for a while and then come up for the 45° and do you know it’s another fucking safety your finger and doing a brass check and not flagging other people at the range you won’t have any issues with any safety is if you don’t do those stupid things

    So my question is; is this simply an issue with the safety not engaging because you have it installed in the 90° setup and not the 45°? It’s 2 separate sets for the safety to lock-in. Curious if this would still be an issue installed for 45° as opposed to 90°

    • @gutzngunz1897
      @gutzngunz1897  3 роки тому +1

      Typo? I think you mean to say…would this be the case if installed for a traditional 90° throw? As opposed to a 45° throw, as is on video? Answer is…yes that should help correct the issue. However like daddy plaid mentioned, this is a tolerance stacking issue. Your lower may vary.🤷🏽‍♂️
