Thanks for the video. If I’m using a color camera, will I get sharper images by recording in black/white with the Bayer matrix turned off? Then turn the color back on in AS!
SharpCap takes care of that for you, if you’re shooting in RAW8. You’ll still see it in color while you video but it’s going in as grayscale. I haven’t found anybody who recommends recording in mono, so though that’s possible it doesn’t sound useful.
In Autostakkert, the color is for preview. You can also click the Gear ⚙️ icon and adjust the colors to even out the histogram. Once you hit record, it will go greyscale but still record color.
It takes a little patience, but the reward is definitely worth the trouble. Bob’s Knobs is the way to go however cause having a screwdriver next to the corrector plate freaks me out.
Correctly collimated SCT stays this way for long time. Approach shown here is not optimal. If mirror flop so substantial that scope loose collimation, that can be detected by eye, then scope has to be fixed or rid of.
I’ve always wanted a cyborg to teach me collimation while being heckled by a boy child. This was great, thanks!
Extremely helpful! THANK YOU! :)
Glad you liked it!
So freaking cool!! Doesn’t even look real 😩 thank you for sharing!!

Thanks for the video. Do you use PIPP to crop your raw videos and center the planet before processing in Autostackert?
Did you try collimating your sct using diy artificial star? Already subscribed
What Crayford focuser do you use? Does it fit to the 3.3” sct thread or it needs an adaptor?
Excellent vid well done
Thank you!
